With Atlanta music dominating the airwaves, who would’ve ever expected the next big hip hop su-perstar to surface from Toronto, Canada? With a platinum selling debut album under his belt, col-laborations with some of the in-dustry’s most prominent names and endorsement deals with brands such as Virgin Airlines and Sprite, new comer Drake is quickly becoming one of hip hop’s hottest commodities.

While Drake has broken much ground here in the states, he ap-pears to be just the pre-cursor to a flood of incredible talent that will be soon flooding over our northern borders, and leading the head of that pack is an amazing group of artists known as U.G.O Crew. With an eclectic sound that fuses Hip Hop, Pop and Rock & Roll, UGO has been making music together for over 3 years. Stevano (Afrikan Rapper), Arturo (Brazil-ian Beat Maker) Karina (Pop Singer/DJ) Alessia (Acoustic Guitar/Drum-mer/Singer) and Eric (Rock Guitarist) were brought together in the wake of tragedy. After mourning the loss of his brother and fellow group mem-ber, Stevano returned to music with a renewed determination. Seeking to

form a diverse crew of highly talented artists, he would soon lay the foundation for what would become UGO or Under Ground Official. With their single “Change” Featuring Sean Kingston chart-ing well at radio, their follow up single “Still Fly”, which features Drake and fellow To-ronto artist Big Page, has been gaining tremendous traction in the clubs. Having been nomi-nated for two Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent of a

Grammy, they are currently on the road touring with Digable Planets and looking forward to bringing a leg of that tour here to Atlanta. Remaining unsigned, they continue to make strides like a major label act, holding true to the name Under Ground Official. With 3 records featured on the Who Got Hits Mix CD, check out their music online for a chance to win $500 cash at www.WhoGotHits.com Connect with the U.G.O Crew on Myspace, Facebook and Twitter.com at /UGOCrew. Mike epps!!by shaheta PiCkett

Mike Epps is in the running as one of the funniest men with his original antics. Being a multi-talented actor, comedian, film producer and musical artist he has made his name into a house-hold favorite in a unique way.

Epps brings audiences to laugh-ter and tears with his endless supply of jokes and one of a kind charm. Hailing from Indiana, he made his way up the ropes with roles in movies such as “Wel-come Home Roscoe Jenkins” and “Next Friday.”

When the funny man isn’t host-ing shows like Def Comedy Jam or the BET Hip Hop Awards, you can catch him in his own line of comedy DVDs.

Epps is currently on tour and will be making a stop at the Atlanta Civic Center on February 5th.

Getting his start in promotions as a student at Southwest Dekalb High School, Smurf built his brand in the streets as a member of Neighborhood Superstars. Working his way up the ranks from passing out fliers and tear-

ing tickets to eventually hosting and co-promoting events, he attributes his success to always staying connected to the people. Responsible for Atlanta’s biggest teen parties, The Neighbor-hood Superstars set the stage for acts such as Trillville, Lil Scrappy and Young Capone to ink their first major deals. Eventually branching out to do his own thing, Smurf World Ent. was born and together with Moola Ent. they turned Scores Sports Bar into the hottest place to party on the East-side for two years straight. Now, with a weekly line including Kamal’s 21, Scores, Room Service Lounge, a Grey Goose endorsement deal and requests from clubs all over the city, he jokes about promoters being the new rap-pers. When asked about being a pro-moter he had this to say, “I love what I do. Even after a big party, I’m right back up the next day working and planning the next move.”

Keri Hilson is an American R&B recording artist and songwriter. Born and raised in Decatur, Geor-gia, she began making waves in the music industry by penning hit tracks for several artists as part of a five-person production team known as The Clutch.

In 2006, the beautiful talent made her solo appearance after being signed to Timbaland’s label Mo-seley Music. Her debut studio album, In a Perfect World was released in March 2009 with the successful singles “Knock You Down” (in which she won a Grammy award for her collaboration with Ne-Yo) and “Turning Me On.” The album reached within the top five on the Billboard 200 and number one on the US Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. It was later certified gold.

Hilson is back with her 2010 release, No Boys Allowed, in hopes of reaching more solo success. The album hasn’t had as much stamina out the gate as her first effort. No Boys Allowed debuted at number

11 on the Billboard 200. “Break-ing Point” and “Pretty Girl Rock” are the lead singles.

The songstress explained that, “No Boys Allowed is a deeply personal project designed to bring women to their feet. The provocative title, is not what you may think. It’s not about exclud-ing men. It’s more about women understanding that there comes a time in your life when you want a man. A real man. A grown up. Not a boy. And that’s not a bad thing. I write from a female perspective,

but I’m also telling men what women are really thinking and feeling about them.”

Keri Hilson’s popularity, professionalsim and great looks have also helped her move into other arenas of business. Recently, she replaced Jennifer Hudson as the new face of Avon cosmetics. She has been in demand since her first debut with no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Its no secret that Atlanta sits atop the music industry. Home to mega-stars such as Usher, TI and Ludacris, the city is a magnet for talent. This past November was no different as the Core DJs returned for their semi-annual DJ retreat. While the event drew big names such as Dorough, Diddy, Shawna and many other major label acts, it was a fresh new label out of Rockford, Illinois that had everybody buzzing with its single “Fast Lane”.

After the retreat, we got a chance to sit down with Yung Meech CEO of All In Entertainment to talk about Atlanta and the success of the new record. Being based in the midwest, he explained how

they draw inspiration from music in alot of other regions. Being back and forth in Atlanta partying at clubs like Chocolate, Primetime, Essos, Visions, Obsessions, etc... you can definitely hear the city’s influence in their music. This unique sound may be nothing like what you’d hear from an Atlanta group, but somehow it still fits in with whats being played in the clubs.

Together with group members Yung Monski, Big Breed and Mr.HaterProof, Yung Meech is gearing up to make All In Entertainment a household name in 2011. To download your FREE copy of their new single “Fast Lane” visit AllInEnt1.com

Though Tip may be away for the mo-ment, he’s left plenty of talent behind in his absence like P$C member, AK “Tha Razorman”. For the past few months AK’s new single “Like Uhh!” has been buzzing across Georgia and South Car-olina hitting radio and impacting clubs. When we caught up with AK at the stu-dio, here’s what he had to say about the single and his upcoming project,

“We really didn’t plan on this being a single but the streets jumped on it so hard that we HAD to listen. I think it’s a good introduction for the new this project since the title is “Evolution” and this project is all about me growing beyond just trapping and stepping into the roles of an artist, a businessman and a father. I’m growing every day and just learning as I go. Even from Tip’s situation. So right now it’s all about holding it down for Tip till he get home. Till then I’m just gone be in these streets reminding everyone why Pimp $quad is the Click and the Hustle is Grand!”
