OPEN DAY

20th June 2014, 9:00-17:00, Park Hyatt, salon 2-4, Busan, South Korea

DNV GL Energy is pleased to invite you to an open day presenting the latest developments inoffshore wind turbine support structure design.

Integrated design for offshore support structures

Studies have shown that lifetime cost of energy savings for

offshore wind of 10-15% are possible using an integrated

design approach. Learn about the potential benefits of a fully

integrated design methodology for offshore support structure

design.

Offshore loads analysis in Bladed

A training session presenting capabilities for offshore loadsanalysis in the Bladed wind turbine design tool including details

of wind and wave modelling, support structure modelling, soil

springs, floating analysis and post-processing options.

Foundations design workshop

A training session describing the challenges for offshore

foundation design and the most adequate design solutions. The

workshop will give an overview of different fixed foundation

types and characteristics trends in Europe and Asia with focus

on installation risks in Korea (West-South, Jeju).

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN OFFSHORE WIND DESIGN

The DNV GL Offshore Wind Design Open Day gives you access tothe latest developments in design methods for offshore windturbine support structures, delivered by expert engineers. Trainingsessions and workshops will be combined with presentationsgiving an overview of the latest design tools and techniquesdeveloped to improve efficiency and reduce the Cost of Energy for

offshore installations.

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHIES

Andrew Cordle is the Team Leader for Offshore Loads Analysis inDNV GL Turbine Engineering. His specialism is in the field of numerical modelling and loads analysis for offshore wind turbinesand support structures. He has rich experience in using Bladedand delivering training courses in the use of Bladed, and hasworked on and managed several major commercial projectsperforming design and certification load calculations for offshoreturbines and support structures.

Jack Giles is the Head of Section for Offshore Wind in DNV GL AsiaPacific region. He is a civil and structural engineer with abackground in marine renewables, and has worked on a numberof offshore wind and tidal energy projects across Europe and Asiafor major utilities and independent clients. After re-locating to Asiahe has focused exclusively on the delivery and development of

offshore projects and training courses in countries and/or areassuch as China, Korea, Taiwan and India.
