The Contour BA (Hons) degree course at De Montfort University (DMU) is the oldest and foremost course dedicated to intimate apparel design in the world.

Contour Fashion BA (Hons) at DMU has consistently led innovative solutions in the wider arena of the intimate apparel industry via fabric technological advances, innovation, production and manufacturing methodologies.

This is a course which engages fashion houses, retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, models and music celebrities in a truly international arena. For 67 years it has produced outstanding graduates in both aesthetic design innovation and technological excellence in the fields of lingerie, corsetry, nightwear, loungewear, menswear, sportswear and bodywear on a global scale for companies including: Stretchline Sri Lanka, H&M Sweden, Abercrombie & Fitch USA, Courtaulds International Group, Agent Provocateur, Clover Hong Kong, Crystal Martin UK, French Connection, Superdry, The Bodywear Office The Netherlands, Wacoal, New Look, George, Triumph Taiwan, Victoria’s Secret USA, Curvy Kate, Donna Karan USA, M&S, LF Intimates and many others.

Our graduates are to be found in every continent worldwide. Others have established own brand labels: Nichole de Carle, Lascivious, Made by Niki, Nicole Gill, Tutti Rouge, Reckless Wolf, By Elena and Lorna Drew.

The course works in parallel with industry partners including The International Institute of Intimate Apparel; an advisory body numbering key figures representing all aspects of the Intimates industry worldwide to support, advise and promote education, innovation, ecological and health issues, research and support for the future of the industry.

Recognised as one of the Top Ten Creative Courses by the ‘Which Guide to Universities’ for the second year running

This academic year the course has been selected to represent creative higher education as part of the GREAT Festival of Creativity – the British Government’s flagship global marketing campaign which aims to showcase the very best of what Britain has to offer - and this June, in conjunction with #DMUglobal, we will be exhibiting work in Brazil in support of the World Cup.

These are just two ways that we aim to achieve our course directives of surpassing the expectations of the intimates industry and fulfilling the demands of the wider fashion industry by nurturing the most innovative graduates in the arena.
