DMAI EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Education and professional development are vital to DMAI, since its inception. Over the years, the various programs offered by the organization have evolved with the needs of destination and the industry. As DMAI plans for its 2016 programs, you can expect:
A meeting point exclusively for the DMO community where skilled minds gather and transfer their experiences and knowledge.
An environment of dynamic discussions to distill issues that challenge the growth of destination
marketing and management organizations around the globe.
An exchange of ideas to expand networks and make new connections – forums to drive solutions
and proliferate concepts - that impact destination marketing and management performance.
A dedicated space to inspire visionary growth, challenge practices and question norms for future
enhancement.
SIX reasons why DMOs attend:
1. Unification: Bring the industry closer together to empower the DMO community to serve as an
economic driver.
2. Evolution: Discuss how change and transformation can be best harnessed for the DMO community.
3. Peer-to-Peer Discussions: In addition to speaker expertise, having ones’ peers in the audience
provides key value through best practice exchanges.
4. Experience: Speakers, partners and colleagues not only talk about issues of importance to the DMO
community, but also share personal insights and their expertise.
5. Diversity of Thought: Assemble the best in local insight and national expertise, from a group of
emerging and established leaders who represent a variety of industry and market sectors.
6. Continuing Education: Specific content designed to advance the knowledge and skills of DMO
professionals that includes DMAP industry standards. The Summits also satisfy credit hours toward
DMAI’s Professional in Destination Management (PDM) Certificate.

The Finance, Operations & Technology Summit is both a disciplined focused and cross-functional gathering
of senior level leadership. As operations know no bounds, integrating cross-functional disciplines, while also
targeting the three disciplines, helps to advance operational performance at DMOs. As a result, attending
all three days is favored.
The Finance, Operations & Technology Summit offers:
A MULTI-DISCIPLINE PERSPECTIVE, with a greater focus on interdependencies and doing more with
limited resources, professionals stretch beyond their own immediate role and search for solutions
outside of their comfort zone.
EXCHANGE OF IDEAS, key discussions are highly valued as coveted time to share best practices and to inspire.
SPEAKERS EXPERTISE, engaging practitioners to share their best practices and case studies to exemplify what works, what’s trending and what’s changing, professionals can stay on-top of their game.
