What is DLMS?

Caterpillar’s Dealer Learning Management System (DLMS) is a Caterpillar tool that assists dealer employees, managers, and training administrators in managing Caterpillar learning content for dealer personal growth and professional development.

In order to access DLMS a dealer employee will need to connect to a DLMS campus. DLMS Campuses are web-based interfaces for Caterpillar learning that can be accessed from any personal computer with Internet access and a web browser, provided you have a Caterpillar Corporate Web Security (CWS) ID and password.

You can always find what prerequisites are required for a course by clicking the course name on the path and then selecting the More Details tab. In this case 3 courses are required before I can take the Electronic Components course.

The system will also check to see if you have already registered for a course. If you have already registered a message will appear telling you that you already registered for the course.

How to Launch My Courses or View How to Launch My Courses or View My CoursesMy Courses

• The Launch My Courses and View My Courses are identical in what they do. Many users could not figure out where to launch their courses so we made a duplicate menu option to help them find where to launch courses.

• From the My Learning tab, clicking the Launch My Course is how all courses are launched.

Page 65: DLMS Learner Training- Final

From there the system displays all of the From there the system displays all of the courses that you have registered for in the courses that you have registered for in the Service Campus. To launch the course click Service Campus. To launch the course click the Launch hotlink.the Launch hotlink.

Page 66: DLMS Learner Training- Final

It appears that all courses are listed twice, but it is not really the case. The first title is the course and the one below it is the offering for that course.

Course

Offering

Page 67: DLMS Learner Training- Final

If you click on the course title you will get details about the course. The More Details tab will allow you to see the prerequisites for the course.

Page 68: DLMS Learner Training- Final

Clicking on the offering title will actually launch the course. Notice that on the right of the window you also have a Launch hot link that you can click to launch a course. Also notice that one course does not have a launch hot link. That is because it is an instructor led course with nothing to launch.

Page 69: DLMS Learner Training- Final

There are also three other hotlinks on the table, View Content, Drop, and Results. The Drop allows you to drop a course. A confirmation window will display to make sure you really want to drop the course or not.

Page 70: DLMS Learner Training- Final

The View Content allows you to see information about the course such as what the passing or mastery score is and how many attempts you have to complete the course.

Page 71: DLMS Learner Training- Final

Clicking the View hotlink from this window gives even more details of the course. It shows each individual module that makes up the course, the amount of time you have spent, and the number of attempts.

Page 72: DLMS Learner Training- Final

How to View My Course How to View My Course HistoryHistory

When you have completed a course whether it was successful or not successful the system will move the course out of the My Courses section and place them into the My Course History. By clicking the View My Course History hot link you can see what courses you have completed. You can filter which courses that are displayed by entering the date criteria.

Page 73: DLMS Learner Training- Final

If you completed a course successfully you can click the Print Certificate of Completion hot link to print your certificate.

Page 74: DLMS Learner Training- Final

The hot links under the action column will vary depending upon your role. If you are a learner only and not an administrator or instructor, you will have only one hot link, View Content and not the Edit or Delete.

Page 75: DLMS Learner Training- Final

The View Content hotlink works just like the View Content on the View My Courses. From this window you can click the View hot link.

Page 76: DLMS Learner Training- Final

From here you can view the status of each module in the course, the last time you accessed each module, the time spent on each module, your score and total number of attempts.

Page 77: DLMS Learner Training- Final

How to Search Course CatalogThe Search Course Catalog hot link is used to search for courses that are not in your curricula paths, but you may also be required to take. A good example some of the safety courses in the Service Campus. Notice in this example I entered %Safety%. Searches in the Campus work left to right and the % is the wild character. My search is telling the system to search for any course title, description of a course, or keyword with the word safety somewhere in it.

Page 78: DLMS Learner Training- Final

That is the Simple Search, but there is also the Advanced Search. By clicking on the Advanced Search hot link you can be more specific about your search. A good example is that I am looking for courses and enter my %Safety%. Notice the system returns all languages.

Page 79: DLMS Learner Training- Final

If I add more criteria to my search I can limited the results to safety courses in English only. This time I select English from the drop-down next to Language and the system returns only courses pertaining to safety and are all in English.

Page 80: DLMS Learner Training- Final

Another good example is that I want to take an instructor-led course but I am located in Arizona. I can enter the following and see only the instructor-led courses in Tucson. NOTE: The Location field means the location of the course not your location.

Page 81: DLMS Learner Training- Final

The results tables that are displayed by the system can be sorted by a column by clicking on the column heading. I am planning a trip to Peoria in March and I wanted to see if there are any instructor-led courses the end of March. I can click on the Start Date column and sort the table by start date.

Page 82: DLMS Learner Training- Final

You can also print the results tables, export the table, and modify the table. The export feature exports a .CSV (Comma separated values) file that can be loaded into an Excel spreadsheet.
