Egg Farm Sign – Sept 2014 Description: AIU Project Road sign creation project with the words shipping, receiving, parking and directional arrows included. This project also includes a logo that represents the sign theme. The sign is placed on the roadside in a photograph of my choosing. Design Process: As I typically do in my work, I wanted to be a bit different. I chose a country road scene and placed my custom sign on the side. As I pondered where I would go from here, the thought of a chicken farm popped in my head. I drew up a quick chicken shape and put it on top of the sign. That was all it needed to be complete. The sign (with shadow) & logo chicken were drawn up in Illustrator and placed into Photoshop as smart objects. Software: Adobe Illustrator CC & Photoshop CC

Design Process: The design I have chosen is based on a Biblical scripture in which Jesus Christ speaks to Peter, one of His disciples. He is telling Peter that He has chosen to build His Church on a rock, and that Peter is the one who will lead that movement after He is gone. The idea behind this design is that the type and its background represents that solid foundation. I used the Swis721 font family, with the typeface of Swis721 BlkCn BT. This typeface represents strength, and the method of 3D extrusion also gives the piece a feel of depth and dimension. Also used in this design is the new feature of “TouchType” in Adobe Creative Cloud software. This feature allows the designer the flexibility to transform each individual character in the type in a variety of ways (see close up below). I utilized changing the height and width of characters to fit the form and create the mountain effect of the type. Software: Adobe Illustrator CC

Matthew 16.18 – Aug 2014 Description: For this project I chose a font family and typeface (a font) from that font family, and created an original artistic 8x10-inch design using only characters from this typeface. The subject for this design was open, and I exhibited the personality and versatility of the typeface.
