DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY APRIL 8, 2018
From the Pastor’s Pen…
“Be of one heart and one mind. Share everything in common!” What kind of a world is that? How is this way of life even possible?
Through everything he did and taught, Jesus believed in this way of life, He never wavered from his mission to proclaim that the reign of God was possible and to call disciples to preach that message to all the ends of the earth.
We begin to hear the hints of Pentecost in this Sunday’s readings. In 1 John, the Spirit is truth. In John’s Gospel, the Spirit comes upon them as breath. And in the Acts reading, we see the fruits of the Spirit in the way that the community members treat one another.
The prayer list in the weekend bulletin will be included ONE SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH. AS IT IS STATED: included in the list will be OUR PARISHIONERS in hospitals, at home or in care facilities. We pray for the sick and suffering at every Mass. Also, each Saturday before Mass, when the Rosary is prayed, it will be done for the people on this list and for your own intentions.
WELCOME
During the Easter Vigil, one young woman and two men
who have been journeying since last September through
the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
process of study, dialogue, reflection and prayer
embraced fully the Catholic faith. As a parish family,
we the Community of St. Bartholomew, warmly welcome
Loryn Valentino who was baptized during the Vigil. We
also recognize and welcome Jesse Gunter and Adam
Troy who were received into full membership. All three
were also Confirmed and received First Eucharist.
Special thanks and blessings to all who serve so
generously through time and witness as members of the
RCIA Team: Bob Fallon, Connie Renker, Joan
Pavlescak, Gloria Gedeon, Teran Taggert and Cathie
Noga; and as sponsors: James Prahst, Gina Bona and
Sherri Troy. Let us continue our prayerful support for
our new parishioners during their ongoing journey of
faith.
From the Pastor’s Pen for the Youth and
others……
Luke’s “Everything was just absolutely peachy” description of the Christian community can invite several cynical responses: “Obviously it’s gone downhill since then,” or “Good for them; but I don’t see that around here.” If someone asked you to describe your family or a team you are on, you might list positive things like helping each other, being there for one another, and generally being good with each other. You might gloss over or skip saying anything about occasional loud arguments, slammed doors and letting each other down. Luke may have been doing something similar in his portrayal of his utopian community.
Grief Support-Walking the Journey
The St. Bartholomew and Holy Family Ministry of
Consolation is committed to reaching out spiritually to
the bereaved of our parishes and families who are of
adult age over 18 years, regardless of type of loss, parish
affiliation. Through witness, education and support, we
hope, by our presence to help the parish community
understand the needs of those who grieve.
Our 8-week support group known as “Grief
Support, Walking the Journey” is an education and
support program on grief and coping. To date, we
have helped 196 individuals find hope and comfort.
We are a staff of trained facilitators plus a member
of the clergy who is caring, listening to all who enter,
while walking along side you on your grief journey.
The next session will be held on Thursday
evenings, beginning May 10, 2018 thru June 28, 2018.
Should you or a member of your family, regardless of
parish affiliation wish to attend, please fill out the form
below and return it to the Parish Office or place it in
the collection basket.
You may also call Chris Lindquist at 440-268-8020
or Darlene Gannon at 440-785-5841 to register or for
more information.
“Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith - it is the price of Love”
Please return this form by Tuesday, May 1, 2018

On behalf of all the parishioners of St. Bartholomew we would like to say WELCOME to our Parish Church
and Family.
Being a part of a parish family is just one way that we can pray for each other and through that prayer we strengthen our baptismal bonds in the rich traditions of our Catholic
Faith.
We’d like to welcome anyone who is not registered in the parish to consider joining the family
here at St. Bart’s!
If you have been frequently joining us for Sunday Mass we invite you to stop in at the Parish Offices and become a
formal member of St. Bart’s!
Why should I register? Besides being a part of our praying community many times individuals seek sponsor certificates to be a Godparent or Confirmation Sponsor and the first requirement is that you are registered and actively attending Mass at your parish.
It is also helpful, especially in the time of the passing of a love one, when a Funeral Mass is celebrated to have the peace and consolation of knowing your parish family is there with you, praying and supporting you in the time
of loss.
It only takes a few minutes, and our Parish Staff will be glad to assist you in the process. Please stop in and make
the move!
Loose Change for Life…….. Today we begin our

unplanned pregnancy. Some of the clients are abortion
minded; others need parenting support. Please con-
sider supporting this ministry by stopping by a church
entrance to pick up a bottle. Please return your bottles
by 5/8/18. Your gifts will be greatly appreciated. The Middleburg Hts. Food Pantry is requesting canned meats, crackers and portable snacks. This includes but is not limited to peanut butter or cheese cracker packs, graham cracker snack packets and fruit snacks. Sugar, flour and baking items would also be greatly appreciated. As always, any and all donations outside the above are greatly appreciated.
