Content:In 2011, the DIT established The Lead, Engage, Achieve, Develop (LEAD) module to encourage, promote and support student’s development of a range of employability skills through engagement in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities such as volunteering, mentoring, and involvement in clubs and societies. The LEAD Module aims to recognise and award credit to the important learning that takes place outside the confines of formal academic study and which contributes to an overall enhanced student experience.

Groups of 3-4 students are each assigned a module tutor and negoti-ated a personal action plan related to the development of their selected employability skills. Students are also asked to maintain a personal re-flective blog. The module is assessed through the completion of a 2000 word Portfolio + associated evidence of engagement in activities. The Award will be run for 20 students this year and the application process will begin on the 23rd of September with classes beginning in October.

The LEAD award is a joint project between Campus Life, LTTTC, DITSU and the College of Arts and Tourism
