SHEOHAR DISTRICT PROFILE
Sheohar district came into existence in the year 1994, before which it was a part of Sitamarhi district.
Sheohar district is a part of Tirhut division. Sheohar district is surrounded by the districts of Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur,
Sitamarhi and East Champaran. The main rivers flowing through the district are Bagmati and Budhi
Gandak . It is the smallest district of Bihar and the second least populous district of
Bihar after Sheikhpura.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This district was carved out of Sitamarhi district on October 6, 1994.
ADMINISTRATIVE
The district headquarters are located at Sheohar. Sheohar district comprises of only one sub-division, namely Sheohar which
is divided into 5 blocks. o Sheohar

Total number of Gram Panchayats in Sheohar district: 53 Total number of villages in Sheohar district: 207.
Sheohar district is predominantly an agricultural district. Paddy, wheat, maize and pulses are the main agricultural crops raised by
