BRIEF INTRODUCTIONDistrict Samba is a newly created district carved out of Jammu

and Kathua Districts in 2007. The brief statistics of the district is asunder:

• No. of Tehsils :- 06 Nos. (Samba, Vijaypur, Ghagwal, Ramgarh, BariBrahmana, Ramgarh)

• No. of Towns :- 04 Nos. (Samba, Vijaypur, Ramgarh, BariBrahmana)

• No. of Panchayats:- 99 Nos.• No. of Panchayats:- 99 Nos.• No. of Villages:- 381 (319 from erstwhile Jammu and 62 erstwhile

Kathua)• No. of Blocks:- 9 CD Blocks (Purmandal, Vijaypur, Samba

,Ghagwal, Bari- Brahmna, Ramgarh, Sumb, Nud and Rajpura)• Geographical Area:- 91375 hectares.• Population:- 318611 souls as per 2011 census.• District Industries Centre Samba started functioning from April 2008

onward.• Total no. of Sanctioned posts in DIC Samba:- 16 Nos.

INDUSTRIAL SCENARIO IN DISTRICT SAMBADistrict Samba due to establishment of Industrial Growth Centre (IGC)

has came up as a new Industrial Hub as it provides infra-structure facilities ofbest magnitude which is pre-requisite for attracting the industrial investment.The site best confirms to the guiding criterion laid down for selection of aGrowth Centre having facilities like transportation, power, water, banking andcommunication. At present there are 736 no. of registered industrial units in thedistrict in IGC and area outside IGC

In the district, the major industrial activities mainly confined to IGChaving the area as given below:-

(A) Phase I with an Area of 2277 Kanals(A) Phase I with an Area of 2277 Kanals(B) Phase II with an area 1217 Kanals(C) Industrial Estate, Samba with an area 20 kanals

Besides this good numbers of industrial units are also established on privateland

(D) Phase III with an area 2763 Kanal 02 Marla is under acquisition out of which713 Kanal 15 Marla has been acquired and handed over to SIDCO and thefinal Award for land measuring 1581 Kanal 03 Marla at village Rakh AmbTali, Samba stand issued by the Collector Land Acquition, Samba and thedraft award for the land measuring 468 Kanal 4 Marla at village Karandi isalso stand approved.

OBJECTIVE & FUNCTIONSThe Main functions of District Industries Centre are as under:

• To motivate, guide and facilitate the entrepreneurs to get themselves registeredwith the District Industries Centre for establishment of Industrial Units.

• Issuance of EM Part-I and E.M. Part-II in favour of the Industrial Units.

• Facilitate the Promotion of MSME units by way of arrangements of financialassistance from banks / financial institutions.

• To implement the provision of various types of incentives being extended by theState/Central Government.

• To help in marketing of end products through SICOP and other GovernmentTo help in marketing of end products through SICOP and other Governmentagencies.

• To ensure that maximum employment in the industrial units is provided to thelocals.

• Provision of employment opportunities to educated unemployed youths throughPrime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

• Identification of land for establishment of industrial estates in the district in whichland at the lowest market rates is provided to the entrepreneur for establishment ofthe unit etc.

• The various incentives available to the entrepreneur under the Govt. of India/StateGovt. Industrial Policy are given on page No. 7.

An area of 2763 Kanal 02 Marla of land comprising of three villages is being acquired under phase-III. An amount of Rs. 68, 98, 34,894.00 has been placed at the disposal of Deputy Commissioner, Samba for acquisition of land. The status of land is as under:
