My Students Took a SurveyMy students took a surveyOn the Tripod 7Cs.They were asked to answer questionsFocused very much on me.

First among the Cs is CaringAnd with focused concentrationStudents answered how my teachingModels personalization.

Next the topic is ConferringFor this C among the questionsThere are queries asking studentsAbout classroom conversations.

Next the C is CaptivationAnd the survey seeks to findIf my lessons are so interestingThey stimulate young minds.

Clarify comes next in orderAnd my students all are askedWhether when things get confusingUnderstanding comes to pass.

Then there is ConsolidationFocused largely on connectionsAsking students if we summarizeAnd catch our misconceptions.

Challenge is the C for whetherWhen the work gets really toughI insist they keep on tryingEven though the going’s rough.

This includes demands for rigorWhere to understand things bestI press them hard to concentrateDespite their sense of stress.

The seventh of the Cs Concerns the topic of ControlKeeping kids on task and working hardAchieves results twofold.

Yes, my students answered questionsFocused on the 7CsAnd the answers that they gaveShowed that they really do know me.

Some were things I was aware ofOthers, frankly, were surprisingBut the truth was there unfetteredAnd I started analyzing.

I figured out some thingsThat I have never thought to doAnd now each morning that I riseI cannot wait to get to school!

Yes, my students took a surveyOn the Tripod 7Cs.They were asked to answer questionsFocused very much on me.

At first I was a skepticBut I now have come to knowThat my students’ insights really canShow me some ways to go!

Hidden Ambitions

There are things I’d tell my teachers If I only had a chance.Like the reasons I so oftenSeem to drift off in a trance.

What they cannot see by lookingIs that I’m quite insecure.Even when I’m acting machoWhat I’m feeling is unsure.

What they can see is that sometimesWhen I should be concentrating It appears that I’m daydreamingOr just busy entertaining.

My classmates think I’m smartBut just refuse to buckle down,That somehow I like my statusAs the classroom’s premier clown.

And I’m sure my teachers thinkThat I’m just goofing off and hopeless.Even when I’m working hardThey treat me like I’m still unfocused.

Since I act like I don’t careAbout my low grades and performance,No teacher wants to work with meThey all express reluctance.

So I wish I had the courageWhen I’m lost and feeling frightenedTo let teachers know I want some helpTo have my prospects brighten.

If only there was some way I could make a true confessionThat I’m not the clown I seem I want to master all my lessons.

My Practice

Constantly looking for ways to improve engagement and student growth.

Often sought feedback from my students but found it was vague and did not pinpoint strengths or areas of growth.
