New York District - A Ministry Network presents the NEXT District Council 2015
Citation preview
61ST NEW YORK DISTRICT COUNCILPOUGHKEEPSIE, NY
I am convinced that there is always a NEXT with our God. He is never done working in us, for us and through us. During our time together we will focus on ministering to the NEXT generation and providing the NEXT resources for ministers and ministries in our ministry network. Dr. James O. Davis and Rev. Rich Wilkerson will be sharing in the main sessions. During the Leadership Forum on Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Davis will share insights on how to reach the audience of today with the wisdom of the ages-the topic of his newest book, Gutenberg to Google. Rich Wilkerson pastors Trinity Church in Miami and has been a national leader in youth ministry, an evangelist and a church planter.
Workshops and panels will be offered on Wednesday afternoon at Faith Assembly’s new Conference Center (the former Casperkill Country Club). These training opportunities will be geared toward taking leadership development, preaching and local church ministry to the NEXT level. I believe that the Lord has greater plans than we do for what HE intends to do in our lives this year.
So glad you're here!

THE CHALLENGE PREACHERS FACE TODAY IS IN KNOWING HOW TO "INHALE" EFFECTIVELY THE BREATHINGS OF THE SPIRIT AND THEN TO "EXHALE" THE WORD OF GOD THROUGH DYNAMIC LIFE-GIVING EXPERIENCES OF THE WORD SO PEOPLE CAN LIVE AGAIN. THE TWENTY INDISPENSABLE LAWS OF COMMUNICATION IS ONE OF THE MOST COMPELLING AND CREATIVE BOOKS ON PREACHING IN RECENT TIMES.
Dr. Davis earned a Doctorate in Ministry in Preaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and two master’s degrees from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. As an author and editor, he has written several books including Gutenberg to Google: The Twenty Indispensable Laws of Communication, How to Make Your Net Work: Tying Relational Knots for Global Impact and We Are The Church: The Untold Story of God’s Global Awakening (coauthored with Dr. Leonard Sweet). He resides in the Orlando area with his wife, Sheri, and daughters, Olivia and Priscilla. They have two children, Jennifer and James, who reside in heaven.

Money Matters: Managing Church FinancesWORKSHOP
Effectively Shepherding & Leading PeopleWORKSHOP
The business of the church is becoming increasingly complicated. Many churches are under the false impression that because they are a church, they are exempt from many HR, payroll and Health Insurance compliance rules. What we don’t know can hurt us.
Ministry comes in many forms; it could be pastoral, or it could be teaching, clinical, or even relationships within the home. The common denominator amongst all ministry positions is leading and caring for people who want to follow one minute and don’t the next. Learn traits to help successfully care for and lead individuals within your scope of influence.

Peacemakers: Ministering to Your CommunityWORKSHOP
Ministry Wives Fellowship Tea: Defining Boundaries - Loving Ministry on Safe GroundsWORKSHOP
Peacemakers exists to move people from desperation and need to a place of sustainability and peace. We partner with individuals, businesses, government agencies and private foundations to bring help and hope to individuals and families who live in a community struggling with poverty, unemployment and crime. We facilitate social service delivery to more than 1,500 people a week through our Miami locations. Peacemakers has helped over 50,000 individuals since we started, and there are currently eight Peacemakers affiliates in six states, with four more sites in process. This workshop will share what we are doing at Peacemakers, and how we are reaching out and making a difference in our community.
As women in ministry, we are called to reach out to those in need, to be hospitable and to give of our time to listen and relate. With so many needs to serve, it is easy to forgo healthy boundaries. This session is a unique opportunity to listen in on an honest conversation about how you can embrace the demands of ministry while intentionally creating the margin in your life needed for your family, your marriage and yourself.

IN MEMORY
KENNETH TINCH
JOSEPH CORTESE
ALAN STEIN
Pastor Joe came to the Lord while in Puerto Rico and met his wife, Aimee, almost immediately after. Pastor Joe and Aimee’s ministry saw many cities as they travelled across America and Latin America presenting the gospel with teachings and music, finally settling at Crossroads Tabernacle in their later years. Even today, their children and grandchildren carry on their passion for ministry.
Pastor Kenneth began serving the Lord as a teenager and sought further training for the ministry through multiple institutions. Once granted credentials with the Potomac District, he and his wife, Susan, began to minister in churches throughout Virginia, wherever the Lord led them. In 1987, they were called to the New York District and devoted their time to Faith Assembly of God for close to 30 years.
LILIAN VICOPastor Lilian began serving the Lord in her home country of the Phillippines, leading evangelistic children’s outreaches and programs. When she felt the Lord calling her to the United States, she jumped at the opportunity and found a home at Bellerose Assembly of God. Here, she immersed herself in the children’s ministries, reinventing programs such as VBS, Sunday School, Kids Church, and community outreaches.
Pastor Al began following God’s call on his life when he attended Central Bible College in Missouri, and he saw his education through to ultimately receive his Ordination with the New York District. He and his wife,
Lynda, served the Lord together from their marriage in 1985. Pastor Al ministered as a senior pastor, as the Presbyter of the Long Island section of New York and through the District School of Ministry.
MELVIN TODDPastor Melvin followed God’s call by attending both Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island and
Southeastern College in Florida. During his time in the ministry, Melvin served alongside his wife, Betty, and ministered as an Assemblies of God World Missionary to Bolivia and Venezuela, as a
senior pastor, as a pulpit supply pastor, and through many sectional positions, including Christ’s Ambassador’s Representative, Royal Rangers Commander, and Secretary/Treasurer.
CHARLIE FULLERPastor Charlie was delivered from over 30 years of tobacco and alcohol use, and at that moment he
gave the Lord his heart and his service. When he felt God’s tug on his heart to minister to the lost, he was obedient to the call, enrolling in Buffalo School of the Bible for his ministry education.
Pastor Charlie served the Lord faithfully at Springville Assembly of God, as he sought to reach out to God’s children through the men’s ministry, hospital ministry and nursing home ministry.
