Divey Ahuja ISSUE AUGUST 2018 Windows Southend 35.0 District 3011 ROTARY CLUB OF DELHI SOUTHEND FROM THE PRESIDENTS DESK Dear Southenders , Thank you for your love and continuous support. The main focus area for me and my team is the Southend Skill Development Center. I thank you all for the support for this noble cause. At the same time I thank the critics because of whom we were able to select the right policies and vocations and can now be sure that our trainees will be gainfully employed. The second visit to ILFS Skill centre in Okhla was very informative. I request all those members who wish to visit can take the opportunity to see it on 5th Septenber as we are having a Blood Donation Camp there. We had provided 50% Discount coupons for a Health Check up at Escorts Fortis Friends Colony. Few rotarians have already availed the offer which is available only till 30th September. Request you all again to go for this health check-up to lead a healthy life. We have arranged a Family trip to an offbeat and unique destination - Bikaner. We promise lots of fun with exclusive Dinners on the Sand Dunes and by the Lake in the midst of a wild life sanctuary. Look forward to your maximum participation. Warm regards Rtn. Amit Chaudhry President 2018-19 FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR DESK It is indeed a matter of great pride for our District that our very own PRID Sushil Kumar Gupta Ji has been selected by nomination committee to be 2020-21 Rotary International President. It is likely to be confirmed in the month of October. I have firm belief that Rotary will immensely benefit with him at the top. Rotary is taking big strides in our District. Month of August saw a flurry of Rotary activities, beginning with Rotary Day and Membership Development Seminar on 4th & 5th of August. Rotary Clubs of Faridabad & Palwal (Zones 9,10,11,12) joined hands to celebrate Rotary Day at Gymkhana Club in Faridabad. All mobile Rotary projects of our District were brought under one roof to create public awareness of the good that Rotary is doing in society. Live camps were held for general check-ups, blood donation camp and free distribution of artificial limbs to the handicapped persons was done. Friends, it is of utmost importance to enhance public image of Rotary. I urge upon you to also hold community service projects with greater public involvement and exposure. Only then we will attract more service-oriented persons to Rotary fold. Keeping this objective in mind, Membership Development Seminar was held on 4th August at Convention Centre in Faridabad. Getting new members to Rotary is important but, more important is to see that those who join Rotary, do not leave but are assimilated well in Rotary traditions of service and go on to become eminent Rotarians. Retention of existing members is of great importance, if Rotary is to grow. This year our prime focus for WinS Programme is to go back to schools and evaluate the present condition of all facilities installed by our Rotary Clubs in Govt. Schools in last 3 years. I urge every Rotarian to work in sync with our WinS Team so that roadmap for more work opportunities for Rotary Clubs can be created. Rtn. Vinay Bhatia Distric Governor, 2018-19 R.I. District 3011
