The Lions of Denton Triangle planted a tree in memory of deceased member Lion Joan Dooley. The tree was planted on the grounds of Highland Baptist Church in Denton where Lion Joan and her husband Don attended for over 65 years. Don Dooley, who is a past Lion, attended the ceremony as well as her son, Rev. Jeff Dooley. Lion Joan was a Lion for over 30 years.

Recently, Ms. Marcela Gonzales from the Tarrant County Meals on Wheels, gave a presenta-tion to the NET Lions at our twice-monthly dinner meeting on October 17

th.

Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization that started in 1973 as a collaboration between 11 faith-based organizations in downtown Fort Worth to bring food to the elderly in the central city area. Over the years, MOWs of Tarrant County has grown and now serve all of Tarrant County, providing approximately 1 million meals each year to some of Tarrant County’s most frail citi-zens. By providing home-delivered meals, professional case management, and other needed items or services to our homebound, elderly and disabled clients, we enable them to remain living independently in their own homes, surrounded by a lifetime of memories. The NET Lions Club decided to help support the MOWs through donating small Christmas gifts to 16 clients of MOWs. The gifts included gray blankets, toiletries including a hair brush, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and deodorant, and a gift box filled with candy goodies. We delivered them to the MOWs office in Fort Worth on Monday, December 11

th.

The MOWs staff was very excited about the gifts and were looking forward to brightening the day and Christmas season for those receiving the gifts, as these gifts were probably the only gift that some would receive. The NET Lions are proud to have participated, and look forward to perhaps expanding this program next year.
