District 26 celebrated its annual spring conference with a great weekend of learning, competition, and
fun. Led by world renowned speaker, Patricia Fripp, D26 members learned the benefits of using “You”
instead of “I” in their speeches. And, somewhere during the festivities, we had the business meeting
and elections for the upcoming year.
Darryle Brown will serve as the new District Director, Rhea Thompson will serve as the new Program
Quality Director, and Marcia Wood will serve as the new Club Growth Director, with Deborah
Frauenfelder moving onto the role of Immediate Past District Director.

Southern Division Director, and Tom Marrs was elected as the new Metro Division Director. Clare
Kennelley is the new Foothills Division Director, Jacqueline Smith is the new Denver Division Director,
and John Withrow is the new Eastern Division Director. Please refer to Page 6 for a thank you from all of
our elected officers.

Why Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)? – Because Our Members Deserve Well Trained Leadership
As our May elections conclude, our clubs will be beginning a new era of leadership in July. With that
leadership comes preparation which the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) provides. I was once
asked “where is the value in attending training with so many other competing interests in our everyday
lives?” My response was this—“the value is found in changed lives, motivated members, successful
clubs, and engaging leadership.
TLI fortifies those values of connecting leaders with members of their clubs through relationship, club
leaders gain valuable knowledge through an understanding of their duties and responsibilities, as well as
gleaning best practices from other clubs. Lastly, they are empowered for success in enabling each
member and the club as a whole to reach their goals with the guidance essential to long term success.
The biggest values of TLI are that it is free to all club officers and non-club officers and that the club
members get the well trained leadership they deserve.
Every Saturday in the month of June, District 26 offers TLI training for all club officers. It is highly
recommended officers maximize attendance early on to establish their strategic plan for the new term.
TLI make up dates will be offered in July and August as needed, to ensure all of our leaders meet their
club’s success goals. Please register via the constant contact email sent to you or email the District at
[email protected] to indicate you’re planning to attend one of the TLIs. See you then.

THANK YOU, DISTRICT 26 Your New Leadership Team
As we begin the 2016-2017 term, I am excited and honored about serving as your
District Director. I thank you all for your faith in me to lead this highly talented and
very enthusiastic team of Toastmasters to new heights of growth as communicators
and leaders. I believe in all of you that there is no limit to anything you set your mind
to, using the skills you acquired in the Toastmasters organization to achieve your
personal best in every situation or opportunity you encounter that calls for good
communication and leadership. I believe everything we learned here and continue to learn is
desperately needed in this hungry society. Let us expand our reach within our circles of influence and
bring others to toastmasters, so they may also see their lives change for the better and fulfill their
potential in ways they never thought possible. With your help, District 26, our organization can have the
broadest impact and the greatest surge of growth it has ever had. It takes a collective effort for us to
unlock the realm of possibilities. As your incoming District Director, you have my full support to help
make that happen. I want to hear about every success story you have and celebrate with you all as they
occur. I look forward to a remarkable year and I thank you once again for this opportunity.
It has been an honor to serve District 26 as Club Growth Director 2015-2016. Thank you
for allowing me to continue to serve our district in the coming year, this time as Program
Quality Director 2016-2017. Serving in a district role is not about the person who serves
in that role, it is all about helping our members achieve their goals. We have benefited by
the tremendous leadership of those who have held a position in the District TRIO in past
years. These leaders have helped us all grow in our communication and leadership skills.
They have helped make our district stronger and helped each of us, individually, stretch outside our
comfort zone! I am thankful for their leadership and will continue to reach out to them as my Mentors
to help assure YOU remain my primary focus. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as we set our
vision for the next year and beyond, and I look forward to seeing each of you reach your own goals.

Dear past, present and future Toastmaster leaders of District 26, I am humbled by
your choice to have me serve as your next Club Growth Director. I ask for your
support through my journey. My trek will seem daunting at first, but with your help, I
will accomplish the task. Thank you for your vote of confidence that I can serve the
District and all members of the clubs within it. My former supervisor once said, "No
one is a failure. If they can't be a shining example, they can serve as a stern warning."
My fellow Toastmasters, let us all strive to be the former and not the latter. I have seen what great
potential we have when we come together and I know it is my goal to be a shining representative for
D26.
I humbly would like to express my sincere gratitude to The District 26 membership for
selecting me as the incoming Denver Division Director for 2016-2017 year. I count it
an honor to serve fellow Toastmasters and I am indeed humbled you have entrusted
me with such an exciting opportunity. I endeavor to uphold the mission, integrity, and
values of Toastmasters International in my upcoming role as Denver Division Director.
I truly appreciate the opportunity and I look forward to working with many of you in
the coming year.
Thank you for the trust and faith that you are placing in me as your Division Director
as well as your new soon-to-be-elected Area Directors. I want you to know that I take
this shared trust very seriously and am already brainstorming new ways that I can
inspire clubs, empower Area Directors, and partner with leaders in other divisions. I
believe that a great year for us lies ahead! Thank you again, please feel free to
contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you, District 26, for giving me the opportunity to serve as Foothills Division Director
during the 2016-2017 Toastmaster year. My goal will be to serve all Foothills
Toastmasters by diligently supporting Foothills Area Directors. Foothills Area Directors,
you and I will work together to uphold the District 26 mission of ensuring that each club
within the division fulfills its responsibilities to its members. An excellent club experience
means excellent member experiences. I will be your support system and resource person
as you do your jobs in your areas. In the process of supporting your clubs, you will learn,
grow and have fun! After all, Toastmasters is about people helping people so that each of
us can expand our horizons and thrive. I look forward to an amazing Toastmasters year in Foothills
Division in 2016-2017!
Thank you for electing me as your Metro Division Director for the 2016-2017 year. I truly
value your vote and support. I am humbled and honored by your faith in me, and grateful
for the opportunity to serve our members. I am excited about my new role and am already
making plans to support our leaders and help our members have a great experience. I will
always remember to keep our core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence at
the forefront of everything I do. I look forward to supporting the District 26 Trio and
serving our members during 2016-2017 as we strive for President’s Distinguished District.
Thank you District 26 for your confidence in me. I am excited to serve as Northern
Division Director for the 2016-2017 year. Northern Division is small in number, large on
distance and BIG on great members! We have great officer training, exciting contests and
super meetings. I urge you to take the drive through Wyoming and check out some of our
meetings. I know you will enjoy the members and the clubs would love to see visitors
from other areas in District 26. If you are looking for opportunities to speak, train, coach
or just visit, please contact me. I know you’ll fit right into the Cowboy State!!

My selection both surprised and humbled me. I would like to thank all those in
District 26 who took part in the election process. I particularly want to thank Deb
Horowitz who was a tremendous candidate and is a phenomenal person. Over the
last five years, my club has provided me opportunities to hone both my speaking and
leadership skills. Now it is my time to give back to Toastmasters, an organization that
has given so much to me. I am honored to serve all Toastmasters within the Southern
Division. I look forward to listening to you and will do everything I can do to ensure
your success. Together, we will have a lot of fun and will flourish!

WORK LEFT TO DO
by Rhea Thompson, DTM
It has been my honor to serve District 26 as the Club Growth Director 2015-2016. Our extension team,
led by Kathy Schneebeck Dulnoan, has held Kick-Off Meetings, Organizational Meetings and chartered
12 clubs since July 1, 2015. Our retention team, led by Keith Horowitz has assigned 11 Coaches to help
clubs with 12 or less members return to vibrancy.
Our work is not complete; we still have much to do before the end of this Toastmasters year! These
teams are helping our district reach its goals.
We have five weeks to charter more clubs, increase our membership payments and identify those clubs
whose members are achieving their goals, which will help the clubs reach their goal of distinguished
status. I am confident, working as a team, we will succeed and our district will close out this year as a
distinguished district. Will it be Distinguished, Select Distinguished, or President’s Distinguished? Stay
tuned!

RED ROCKS TLI – KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Amy A. F. Knight, PMP
Amy is a dynamic speaker who brings close to 20 years of
project management experience to her workshops and
presentations. She has served clients in an array of industries
from travel services to financial services, and her passion for
making leadership fun shines through. Her easy and pragmatic
style comes from years of hard knocks combined with having
checked a few things off her “life list” like professional musician,
triathlete, and standup comedian.
Amy is a program management consultant and public speaker,
currently working with mergers and acquisitions for Hitachi
Data Systems. Her passion for project management and
organizational leadership has helped her engage audience
worldwide, include CIGNA, Janus Capital Group, Jeppesen,
Newmont Mining Corporation, and Department of Energy
Western Area Power Authority.
At Red Rocks, Amy will be asking “Do you have leadership GPS?” Have you ever been lost? Leaders face
detours and unexpected one-way streets all the time – and we are expected to maintain a steady
course! So how do pioneering leaders reach a destination without going over the river and through the
woods (and out of their minds?) By using a GPS, of course!
Amy Knight will show us how to create our own Leadership GPS – Guiding Principles and Strategies to
help align who we are with how we lead so we can confidently guide ourselves and our team through
any detour. With stories, games, and interaction she will foster an environment in which we can explore
and be creative. We will be able to walk away with the tools and ideas needed to calibrate our own GPS
in navigating our next adventure.

the future.
Brian Fuller will be presenting Creating Connection in Your Communication. Build

Charter Celebration
Please help us celebrate with Navigationally Speaking!
Navigationally Speaking chartered on March 4, 2016 with 37
members. This is a corporate club sponsored by Medtronic Inc.
and located in Louisville. Lori High, our Eastern Club Extension
Chair and Mentor to this club, presented them with their Club
Banner and Charter Member Certificates on April 27, 2016. We
look forward to seeing this club reach President’s Distinguished in
2016-2017!
Dialogue Submission Protocol
The Dialogue is open to any Toastmaster in District 26 to submit an article. Remember this is your
newsletter; however please limit your word count to 250 words. We would also like a picture if you have
one. I have been asked to stay on as Editor for one more year. Doing so, I have decided that we need to set
up a formalized preliminary schedule for 2016-2017, which is listed below. It can be adjusted as needed.
In order to get the publishing date back to the first week of the month instead of the last week of the
month; I am proposing the following schedule for due date for submission and publish dates. If you are
unable to meet the due date, your article will NOT appear until the following issue. This redefined dates
will allow us to work together to get timely information to our members.
The final newsletter for 2015-2016 will have a due date of June 15, 2016 with a publish date of June 22, 2016
for the June issue. For the upcoming year, I am suggesting the following changes. The July-August issue will be
a combined issue with a due date for submission of July 15, 2016 and a publish date of July 22, 2016.
Issue Due Date Publish Date
September August 19, 2016 August 26, 2016
October September 16, 2016 September 30, 2016
November October 14, 2016 October 28, 2016
December November 18, 2016 November 28, 2016
January December 16, 2016 December 28, 2016
February January 13, 2017 January 27, 2017
March February 17, 2017 February 28, 2017

June May 12, 2017 May 26, 2017
July June 16, 2017 June 26, 2017
I have built in some leeway to ensure we can add the late breaking news or if something changes; however,
this will occur at the discretion of the Trio and requires approval before late submission.
