Meeting 31st August
Host Elliott Causton
This week meeting was our business
and fellowship (B&F).
Grace –
Two little mice fell into a bucket of
cream
The first mouse quickly gave up and
drowned
the second mouse however, he
struggled so hard that eventually
he churned that cheese into butter and
walked his way out.
Meeting opened with President Nicole
speaking about the hobby-horse and
that if you fancy a rant about
something then grab the horse and
away you go!
Nicole welcomed the club to our
monthly B&F meeting and also welcome
our guest PJ O’Farrell. PJ is a potential
new member and also the father or
Niamh and Caitlin who have both been
Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)
candidates for our club in the past.
Page 3
Dinner was a buffet style which was
delicious as usual but which
consisted of -
Starter - Salad bar, different meats
and fresh fruit
Main – Chicken with mushrooms,
fish, veggies and roast potatoes
After the dinner President Nicole
gave the usual 10-minute comfort
break. After the break we went into
the B&F meeting.
Peter Newson gave a quick
update on the club services
which consisted on two
pudding clubs! And the carnival
which our club has been
attending for a few years now.
Paul Parfrey then gave an
update on the Dragon Boat
event and told us that we are
still in conversations about the
parking with regarding to the
Dragon Boat event and
Swindon Santa fun run. He
then went on to say that we
have our Dragon Boat cheque
presentation evening next
Wednesday (7 September)
and that so far we have 34
Dragon Boat members
attending, which is fantastic!
Elliott Causton then stood up
and mentioned that he will
setting up an Instagram page for
the account which is another
social media tool which links
very well to our existing social
media. This will be very useful in
further promoting the club.
Elliott Causton then went on to
explain that he is currently
having meetings with the clubs
most recent candidate to attend
RYLA, Caitlin O’Farrell. And that
he hopes she will coming into
the club to give a brief update on
her experiences within RYLA
very soon.
Finally, as it was our last Rotary
meeting of the month Nigel
Causton stood up to draw the
numbers for our monthly Club
1000 draw.
Page 4
Nigel went on to explain
that so far the
Club 1000 has raised
£27,809.89,
which is an incredible
amount!

Sunday 28th AugustBudgie 1 was produced onSaturday morning just before
‘elle President’sSummer Soiree’
What a day, in more ways than one, I had been invited so whathappens? It really rains, no really really rains, big time! BUT theshow must go on & it did. We like many others arrived a little latebut relatively dry (that storm had finished) but there was more tocome. Ian Price was seen doing some sort of fashion show bychanging his shirt every so often but continually complaining abouthis wet hair (could this be a “Grecian 2000 moment?) The BBQwas operating from around 4 p.m.; no it was not Grumpy at thehead of the queue, just a bevy of women pushing their waythrough! 6 p.m. saw Roys of Devizes Road Ice Creams beingserve, an outstanding a choice of 2 dollops of what ever took yourfancy. This is where Coe/Causton platoon took over the place. God, are
This is where Coe/Causton platoon took over the place. God, arethey fertile? Granddad Causton took charge of the situation & gotinside the wagon to serve the brood!
Then it was back to normal,
single file queue, all sweetness
& light.
Grumpy just checking they are
safe for the little ones to eat!

Alcohol, apparently the President’sCarer/Minder/FinancialController/Husband keeps asubstantial stock of Prosecco forhome consumption; this isreplenished weekly so as tomaintain a happy household. Thistime it was shared with thepartygoers, naturally nobody wentwithout; iced beer was available aswell as cans & some non-alcoholicwine. Then the cheese coursestarted!
Nicole & Ian.A really good party.Thank you fromeveryone.

There are plans for two.The first, a fund raisingevent, is being planned &organised by RotariansHarper, Horn Jnr & Kilby, tobe held at the SwindonCricket Club Pavilion on 21st
October. I think thatRotarians &/or their partnersare likely to be creative withthe puddings. One grumpymember (not me) asked forcheese & biscuits.Regardless we wait forfurther information. I think thefunds that are to be raisedcould well go towardsanother Guide Dog.

To maintain political fairness!
Dear Wise One:
My husband hasn't worked for the last 14 years. All he does is
get dressed in the morning and hop in his fancy car to visit his
cronies.
I know he`s cheated on me many times with young girls who could be
his granddaughters. I know because he brags about this to me.
He smokes fancy cigars and drinks the most expensive Champagne day
and night.
We sleep in separate beds because he`s always telling me he knows
I`m a lesbian and my varicose veins and big bottom turn him off!
Should I clobber him with my frying pan, or should I leave him, Abby?
Your advice would be appreciated ....
"Mad as Hell"
Dear Mad as Hell
You don`t have to take that kind of treatment from any man. I suggest you
pack your bags and move out a.s.a.p. Don`t resort to clobbering him with
the
frying pan, try to act like a lady!
Remember ......you`re running for President of the United States, so try
acting like it.
Abby (The Wise One)
