It is through distribution strategies that we, as an audience,

first get to know about a film. In most big budget films the

distribution deal is secured before filming takes place. This

aspect of the industry deals with the marketing and

promotion of the film through the production of trailers,

posters, film reviews, film festivals, previews

and merchandise.

Positioning

The film was released on 31st July 2013 which is in summers, during holidays. People would go out to watch movies during this time.

The film is rated PG-13 which tells that the target audience for this movie are teenagers and young adult. These age groups would like mystery and drama.

Thousand of copies of film were circulated to the cinemas all around the world.

The movie was a saturate release, it was shown in almost every cinema, all over the world, especially in United States of America.

What is Marketing?

Marketing is the process of communicating the value of a product or service to customers for the purpose of selling that product or service

Marketing The marketing of the movie was done through various methods,

including:

Posters Campaign: Posters usually have a Unique Selling Point. This campaign will help to attract the people towards the film due to the main image on the poster and the cast mentioned/shown on the poster.

Trailer : A series of extracts from a film or broadcast, used for advance publicity. Trailer creates an awareness and curiosity among the people for the movie. Like posters, a Unique Selling Point would be there for a trailer.

Advertising: Media and advertising via internet was done for the movie. It was advertised on different magazines, newspapers, billboards, websites, television (Via Trailers)and the radio, specially in U.S and Europe

Promotion: The film Now You See Me was promoted by the posters and trailers only as it is an adult movie, promotion by toys was not done.

What is Exhibition?This is the stage of the industry where you experience the film itself and the area you are likely to be most familiar with. It refers to the place where the film is seen and since the 19BUs, most films that go on general release are seen in multiplex cinemas. These are cinemas with many screens and have facilities designed to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable. Exhibitors pay attention to local marketing, food and drink inside the auditorium, issues about air-conditioning, sound and vision maximization etc.

Exhibition is divided into two sections:

Cinema: The distributor is paid by the cinema for a copy of the film.

Home: The distributor is paid by the company who is selling the film for a copy.

The distributors of Now you see me (depending on the region) were paid for the given copies to the cinemas and the total sales of the Discs, including DVD’s and Blu-Ray’s.

The film was released worldwide so it was played in almost every cinema over the world, specially in U.S and Europe.

The movie’s budget was $75 m and the box office was $351m which means that the movie made a profit of $276m.
