New trends in higher (University) education in Civil Engineering:

• Rapidly decreasing number of (registered) students,

• Rapidly increasing part-time students,

• Increasing interest for correspondence/distance/on-line learning,

• Decreasing interest of students for presence to lectures and tutorials.

• Old elite-approach in Humboltian stile: freedom of education and research,

• Eighty-century Napoleon Approach: Strictly defined engineering schools with guaranteed jobs,

• Modern Anglo-Saxon approach as combination of previous two systems.
