1. Introduction*!

The!EMOTE!project!believes!that!empathic!artificial!embodied!tutors!can!have!a!role!as!learningPfacilitator!tools.!This!represents!an!exciting!new!area,!with!significant!impact!on!technology!and!society.!!

It!is,!therefore,!crucial!that!project's!outputs!are!able!to!reach!the!widest!audience!possible.!This!document!describes!EMOTE's!dissemination!efforts!carried!out!in!order!to!ensure!broad!media!and!public!engagement.!

The!report!is!divided!into!two!sections.!The!first!section!outlines!the!dissemination!activities!carried!out!in!year!one.!Section!two!provides!an!outlook!on!the!dissemination!activities!planned!for!the!second!year.!

*2. Dissemination*Strategy*Overview*!

Dissemination!activities!have!been!conducted!by!the!project!coordinator,!operationalized!by!YDreams!Robotics,!with!a!crucial!contribution!by!each!partner!involving!their!respective!communication!offices!and!individual!networks!of!the!team!members.!!

In!year!one,!the!main!goal!was!to!create!awareness!on!an!academic!and!educational!level!while!laying!the!foundations!for!a!larger!community,!in!order!to!leverage!on!the!widespread!use!of!social!media,!in!year!two.!

This!groundwork!will!be!crucial!for!the!second!year,!as!dissemination!activities!focus!on!the!general!public!and!industry.!The!site!and!social!media!infrastructure!are!now!ready!to!showcase!the!upcoming!demonstration!material.!

The!kick!off!meeting!in!January!2013!provided!project!partners!with!a!platform!to!explore!their!hopes!and!expectations!for!the!emote!project,!an!opportunity!to!focus!on!the!project's!work!packages,!objectives!and!tasks,!as!well!as!discuss!the!technical!requirements!of!the!project!via!a!series!of!subPtechnical!meetings.!During!the!meeting,!participants!also!discussed!project!management,!reporting!and!the!project!website.!

The!design!meeting!was!specifically!focused!on!the!Emote!vision!of!the!learning!scenario,!with!HWU,!JUB,!INESC,!UGOT!and!UOB!discussing!basic!scenarios!and!tutor!requirements.!!

!EMOTE's!second!project!meeting!gave!the!consortium!members!the!opportunity!to!overview!progress!towards!actions!agreed!at!the!Kick!off!meeting,!present!progress!by!Work!Package!(WP)!with!a!specific!focus!on!WP!2!and!the!results!of!the!Mock!up!Study.!Day!two!involved!a!series!of!technical!meetings!(scenario!1!technical!implementation,!NAO!animation/BML,!Architecture!and!engagement!pilot!studies)!as!well!as!a!review!of!dissemination!activities,!the!project!website!and!project!management!and!reporting.!

• The!EMOTE!project!shares!a!mailing!list,!open!to!all!workgroups.!This!ensures!updated!documentation!and!an!open!channel!for!partners!to!track!progress!and!contribute.!Documents!are!shared!via!Google!Drive!collaborative!platform.!The!mailing!list!is!managed!by!partner!UOB.!

4. External*Dissemination*The!external!dissemination!aims!to!ensure!visibility!and!awareness!of!project's!outputs!outside!the!Consortium!boundaries,!i.e.,!in!the!scientific!community,!academic!institutions!and!organizations.!!

The!consortium!produced!a!graphic!identity!for!all!the!communication!materials!(logo,!document!templates,!website).!Graphical!unity!in!all!communications!is!essential,!since!each!partner!contributes!to!the!communication!strategy!on!a!national!and!international!level.!

5.*Industry*Events*Partners!will!search!for!opportunities!to!showcase!EMOTE!at!specific!industry!events!(CeBIT,!CES…).!EMOTE!can!benefit!from!the!ecosystem!related!to!the!project!hardware!setup,!such!as!the!NAO!humanoid!robot!by!Aldebaran!Robotics!or!the!multiPtouch!table!from!Multitouch!Ltd.!
