o Journals/Magazines
o Books/Chapters
Presentations
Standardizations
Invited Papers and Technical report
Other Contributions
The same structure is used on the GreenICN website (http://www.greenicn.org/) to list the
dissemination activities of the project. By clicking the tab named “Dissemination” a menu is opened
listing all publications, invited talks and key notes, standardizations, invited papers, other
contributions, and public deliverables belonging to the GreenICN project. The events and
conferences as well as the meetings and press releases which were used for the dissemination
activities regarding to GreenICN are listed in the beginning of this report to provide the reader with
additional information concerning the dissemination activities.

Prof. Tohru Asami presents GreenICN at e-meeting of FG-DRNRR
Prof. Tohru Asami presents GreenICN work named “Information Centric Networking in Disaster
Areas” at e-meeting of FG-DRNRRI on 18 April, 2014.
The committee is going to finalize their deliverables at the 9th FG-DR&NRR meeting in Fiji (The
University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji) 12-15 May 2014. Based on the presentation, they agreed to
input some pages of GreenICN in their framework document “Disaster Relief Systems, Network
Resilience and Recovery (DR&NRR): Promising technologies and use cases” which will be published at
the end of May. These deliverables will then be sent to appropriate study groups such as SG2 (FG’s
parent group), SG13 (Future Networks), SG15, SG16, etc.
GreenICN helps organizing pre-FIA workshop on Virtualization
Mayutan Arumaithurai (University of Goettingen) along with Robert Szabo (Ericsson Research,
Hungary and participant of the UNIFY project) organized the pre-FIA workshop on virtualization on
behalf of the EU Future Internet Cluster. The workshop was held on the 17th of March (see here for
the Sessions on 17th March) and 18th of March (see here for the Sessions on 17th March) as a pre-
FIA event in Athens.
The workshop had sessions on Standard bodies in virtualization, efforts to control virtualization and
also presentations from 15 ongoing EU projects (See the call for participation for the workshop).

Dr. Ioannis Psaras presented the GreenICN work at the Department of Informatics of the University
of Sussex
Dr Ioannis Psaras presented the GreenICN work on “Name-Based Replication Priorities in Disaster
Cases” at the Department of Informatics of the University of Sussex on the 26th of February 2014.
Members of the group where our work was presented are active in the area of DTN and ad hoc
communications and are also keen on the ICN paradigm. The audience (of around 15 people) liked
the idea of name-based replication and the discussion focused around the adoption of our proposed
scheme in some of their projects.

ICN focus at ICNP 2013
Since 1993, the annual IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols (ICNP) has established
itself as one of the premier conferences in the computer networking field. ICNP deals with all aspects
of communication protocols, including design, analysis, specification, verification, implementation,
and performance. ICNP is a highly competitive conference in computer science where only around
10-20% top ranked papers are selected from all submissions, based on the double-blind reviews by
its program committee composed of highly reputed international scholars in the field of computer
networking.
The 21st edition of ICNP, ICNP 2013 (http://icnp13.informatik.uni-goettingen.de), is one of the most
successful events in ICNP history – it attracted highest number of participants (more than 150
registered attendees) and a highest number of submissions (252), with a highest number of full paper
presentations (46). It was held at the Mathematics Institute at the University of Göttingen, October
7-10, 2013, where forefathers of computer science like Profs. Carl Friedrich Gauss, David Hilbert,
Emmy Noether and Von Neumann taught or worked. It is first premium international conference
organized by the young Institute of Computer Science, which was founded 11 years ago. Prof. Dr.
Xiaoming Fu of the Institute of Computer Science served as General Co-Chair, together with Dr.
Volker Hilt of Bell Labs/Alcatel-Lucent. Prof. Dr. Dieter Hogrefe, director of the Institute of Computer
Science, was the conference finance chair/treasurer.
Of special highlight was the notion of Information Centric Networking (ICN), a key innovation in the
area of future Internet. ICNP’13 had a specific session on ICN and the panel was centric to “The
Future of Information-Centric Networking”, where experts from the academia and industry raised
various opinions and prospects on this future Internet technology. In this domain, the University of
Goettingen is coordinating a new EU research project GreenICN – Architecture and Applications of
Green Information Centric Networking, which aims to address upcoming challenges of energy
efficiency and disaster management with ICN.
