Disneyland student challenge

Our Rollercoaster will be themed Lion King with two loops. The ride will be at Disney Paris’s adventureland. It will feature on board music – Circle of Life (start) and Hakuna matata (arriving at the end) Catchphrase: “put your head in a lion’s mouth if you dare!”

There are three trains with six carriages each. Each carriage can hold four people

The entrance is supposed to be a cave - style entrance.

The Maths

THRC This is theoretical hourly ride capacity and is

very important. This helps us to calculate how many people will be on the ride per hour so we can estimate queue times. There are six carriages to a train, and 24 passengers. The ride time is 75 seconds, therefore 3600/75 = 48 rides per hour. That means that 1152 passengers can ride per hour.

The spirit of Disney Everyone loves Disney and everything about

it. We believe that this ride reflects the true spirit of Disney because of its theme. The Lion King is one of the most successful Disney movies ever making it to the West End as a Musical. And because the music is so popular, we have included it as onboard music.

What happens on the ride

You enter the building which is like a cave. And the boarding station is similar to Indiana Jones roller coaster. As you climb the first hill the track turns pink in the colour of a tongue and in front there is a lions head with the mouth open. You go through the mouth of the lion and the first drop is there. A camera takes pictures as you drop down and at the bottom of the drop there is a loop and a helix turn which should slow it down for the next hill. The next hill is shorter but the chain lift pulls the trains at about 14mph so it has some speed for the second loop. Another helix turn and the train slows down for the exit stop. There is a big sign saying: “Welcome Back! You made it!”. People exit through the photo hut where you can see your photo.
