Discussion Question (Chapter 9-1)

As a preschool teacher, I dont use much technology in the classroom. The students are young enough that they dont fully understand the technology, and there is not as much of a need for it. I do think that search engines would hold the most promise for me.

Although the students may not use them, I am able to use them to find various teaching resources. I could use them for finding new ideas for lessons plans or games in the classroom. Search engines also allow me to find resources on discipline or other issues that may occur in the classroom. The students could watch short educational videos found through the search engines.

There are a few weaknesses that they have though. Not all information found through the internet is reliable, so it is important to make sure you use a reliable source. There is also the potential to run across information or content that is not age-appropriate. I believe its important to always watch the videos and look closely at the information given before showing anything to the students.
