    Business intelligence is dealing with system andtechniques to query, analyze, and report businessdata to help businesses and organizations in theirdecision making. The course introduces students

    to the area of business intelligence and its valuein an organization. Data warehouse and datamining are discussed including algorithms andsoftware, to enable actual application in businesssettings.

    CS 171 : Artificial Intelligence [BI]

    This course is an introduction to the basicprinciples techniques and applications ofprinciples, techniques, and applications ofartificial intelligence. The focus of the course is

    This is an introductory course to learning how toprogram in Flash using ActionScript. It will coverthe fundamentals of the ActionScript 3.0language including introductory topics such as

    declaring variables, writing functions, workingwith operators and using conditional statementsas well as the essentials on more commonly usedActionScript classes such as the MovieClip class,Sound class, Loader class and Array class.

    This course aims to further discuss the essentialconcepts behind game design learned from lastsemester. It emphasizes game balance, theexercise of creativity, and technical execution. All

    CS 195.O1 : Computers andSociety [IM]

    This seminar course tackles contemporary issuessurrounding the ways in which informationtechnology affects, enables, and changesourselves, our relationships, and our ways of life.This semester, we focus our attention on digital

    games. Despite their pervasiveness and theircommercial success, however, digital games stillstruggle for acceptance as more than just trivialpursuits. At best, critics regard games as

    distractions that perform no social or culturalfunction. At worst, games are thought to raise ageneration of socially inept and morallyquestionable game addicts. The purpose of thiscourse is to address some of these questions andconcerns.

    CS 199 : Software/HardwareProjects [BI, IM]

    Gone are the days when we only interacted withcomputers using keyboards and mice. Ourcurrent computer interfaces capitalize on touch,motion, and gesture. The next wave of interfacesis going to expand the bandwidth of interaction

    further to include thoughts, feelings, emotions,and behaviors. Working in teams of two to three,students must familiarize themselves with thesoftware development kits and/or data formats of

    two or more of these devices. Teams must thendesign an application that fully explores thecapabilities and limitations of the devices. Finally,teams must implement and test the design.

    MIS 181.9 : Service OrientedArchitecture [ES]

    This course teaches students how to implementthe business processes they designed, using aparticular technology. Service-OrientedArchitecture (SOA) is an architectural platformthat divides business processes into logical units,

    called services, in order to reduce redundancyand increase agility. It capitalizes on currentinformation technologyweb services, and theliketo bolster companies strategic advantage.

    MIS 189.2 : IT ServiceManagement and ITIL [ES]

    This course is designed as an introductoryoverview for students who want to understandhow IT services are managed in the real world.The course involves a discussion of the key

    concepts underlying IT Service Management andthe best practices documented in the ITInfrastructure Library (ITIL). It introducesstudents to the different processes under theITSM framework and covers how these processes

    should be implemented in different companies.

    MIS 189.4 : Applied Technologiesin Digital Marketing [BI]

    This course invites students to know, understand,and appreciate the basic concepts of digitalmarketing and its benefits in brand awarenessand brand building. It introduces students to the

    different digital marketing channels, such assearch engines, e-mail, blogs, mobile, and more,and how to apply it to various campaigns. It alsoencourages them to discover emerging trends indigital marketing and to prepare them for the

    imminent digital revolution.

    FA 172.11 : Special Topics inDesign Production :iOS Development [ES, IM]

    This is an introductory course in MobileApplications Development, designed for bothcomputer science and non-computer sciencemajors. A particular mobile applicationdevelopment platform and environment (such asiOS and Xcode) will be employed for the courseand students will be taught basic programmingconcepts and development techniques using the

    chosen platform. The course will also tackleinterface design and project managementconcepts to enable students to develop completeapplications.
