Beauty in every sense of the word


The Lake is shaped rather like an inverted 'Y', with two 'legs' starting at Como in the South-West and Lecco in the South-East, which join together half way up and the lake continues up to Colico in the North. The first few kilometres of the 'legs' at the southern end of the lake are relatively flat, but Lake Como becomes more mountainous as you head northwards into the Alps.

The area around Lake Como, or "Lago di Como" in Italian, is wonderfully picturesque. Its physical distinctiveness, alongside the natural beauty of the lake has long been appreciated, ever since the Roman times in 196BC. The lake has witnessed many dramatic pasts which today impresses visitors from all around the world and leaves forever a lasting impression of romance, vitality and beauty. It is this essence which today draws many holiday makers, film directors and celebrities to a very special place.


Milan, the commercial metropolis is Italy‟s economic hub and home to neo – classical Milanese palaces, striking contemporary architecture and is also the centre to some of the most famous

fashion houses in the world. Milan offers countless tourist attractions such as Leonardo Da

Vinci‟s Last Supper located in the Santa Maria delle Grazie and the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II which offers a cosmopolitan parade of restaurants, shops and bookshops.

Menaggio, although peaceful and relaxing during the daytime there is still lots to do

in and around Menaggio. The town offers an array of restaurants, shops and cafes set

in old piazzas and medieval passageways. You can enjoy walks through the town and its numerous gardens. Along the way you can take a look at some of Menaggio's

lovely little churches: San Stefano (17th century), San Giusto and San Carlo

accompanied by a beautiful bell tower and the ruins of a medieval castle above the town is also worth a visit. The town also offers frequent ferry services across the lake

for the curious and active visitor.

Varenna is the place to get away from it all, but also to be in touch with the rest of the Lake. For

the romantics, the historians or for those who love peace, tranquility and a history that goes back

thousands of years this is the place. Varenna is an ancient fishing village with close to 1000

residents spread along a steep hillside overlooking Lake Como. Today Varenna is a lovely spot to revitalise after a day of sightseeing by enjoying the lake side restaurants and bars or to simply sit

on a bench with an homemade Italian ice cream!

Bellagio sits at the very tip of the Punto Spartivento (the point which divides the wind). When

you arrive by boat, the whole village is laid out for inspection. The lake side produces a wonderful array of beautiful buildings, red-roofed and with pastel-shaded walls, above which rises the

campanile of the 11th century church of San Giacomo. A small maze of steep, sometimes cobbled streets awaits to delight and confuse. Take time to wander at leisure enjoying the many shop

displays and Italian charm.

Tremezzo is one of the most famous tourist resorts of the area and is situated on

the western shore of Lake Como, opposite Bellagio, with a view of the central basin and the Grigne. The impressive villas and big hotels, dating back to the 17th

century, which stand along the edge of the lake, have made Tremezzo an

international tourist destination. Take a day to visit Villa Carlotta and its gardens, a most visually intriguing and delightful experience.

St. Moritz, 100km distance from Varenna and

Menaggio, drive towards the north of the lake, follow

signs for Chiavenna and St.Moritz.

A spectacular run by cable car that leads to the high part of Como, where you can enjoy magnificent views of the city below. Team Building Activities…

JUNGLERAIDERPARK is an adventure park built in the trees of a conifer forest in Civenna, 15 km from Bellagio, near the springs of the Lambro River. JRP consists of various obstacle courses up in the air going from logs to gangways to Nepalese bridges to lianas that connect tree to tree.

The innovative paradigm of this park is that it offers you a new way of spending some time in the open air, combining fun and physical exercise with nature. It' s the kind of activity that requires concentration, teaches you movement coordination, stimulates your bravery and strengthens group spirit. This activity is suitable for all and requires no special athletic preparation.

The park consists of 4 paths of varying skill levels. The levels change according to the paths height from the ground and the type of path connecting tree to tree. After being equipped with you harness, helmet and gloves by your instructor you will be transferred to a Briefing area where you will attend a demo and where you can gain familiarity with 4 try-out routes. Now you're ready for some adventure! Crossing the paths is done fully on your own under constant supervision from below by

the instructors.

The Lake Como area serves a typical Italian menu, though there are a few specialties in the mountainous areas. The Italian meal will consist of generous helpings and served with a smile. Most locations will have a terrace area where you can enjoy the view as well as the food.

The Pizzeria is the cheapest and quickest eating house serving mainly pizzas. Trattorias serve a more extensive menu but the meals will be straightforward. The Ristorante can vary from somewhere serving a limited range of meals, but of the highest quality to one serving a very wide range of meals

Bennet is a huge store that sells pretty much everything you need to kit your home out, and

provides a large array of technologies, interior

designs, kitchen ware, gardening tools, and DIY utensils. There is a large supermarket where you

will be able to find international food selections and of course, fine Italian produce.

The drive from Menaggio is so picturesque that

the drive to Bennet is a journey not to be missed!

You will drive through all many famous lakeside towns such as Laglio, Tremezzo, Mezzegra and so

on. Without traffic on the road, the journey by car will take approximately 25 minutes to reach

Bennet.

If you decide to take the bus, then you must go

to the main Piazza in Menaggio and catch the C10 number to Como.

BENNET STORE

Parking: Always park your car in parking spaces to avoid fines. You

can park without any limits and without payment on the white line bays,

the blue lines mean that they are fee based and you should obtain a ticket from the parking meter. In case there is a sign of „disco orario‟ that

means that you do not pay but you need to put a note with the time you arrived and there is a time-limit. In Varenna you need to buy in the

Tabacchi shop a parking ticket, on which you will need to scratch the

year, date and time you arrived, the same is valid in most parts of Milano.

SUPERMARKETS: The best and largest supermarket around the Menaggio area is the Standa which

is on the road toward Lungano just outside Porlezza (Piano). To get there from Menaggio take the road for Lungano, after 6km the Standa supermarket is on the left hand side.

There is the Pelicano supermarket too, situated along the main road in Menaggio. There is also the Demeglio supermarket in Lenno along Via Regina Statale. This is situated along the main road towards

Como.


Getting around Lake Como The ferry service at Lake Como is the best way to travel

around the lake. The ferries not only cater for passengers but

some are able to accommodate your car.

Ferries are public transport for residents and visitors. They can be the most convenient and definitely the most enjoyable way to get

to the many small lakeside towns, particular the mid lake area.

Taking the ferry ride is therefore more likely to be a regular event than a one-off excursion.

Bus Service Travelling via bus around Lake Como is simple! There is one bus service – the C10 – that runs from Como up the west side of the lake and then round the northern end, terminating at

Colico on the north-east side of the lake.

Between Como and Argegno, a second bus service, the C20, takes a higher, panoramic, route than the C10, with more spectacular views. After Argengo, it turns inland to Lanzio and the Val D‟Intelvi, while the

C10 continues along the lakeside.

At Menaggio the C10 bus connects with the C12 for Lugano, and then carries on up and round the northern end of

the lake.

The C30 runs from Como to Bellagio (through the area between the east and west branches) and the C40 from

Como to Lecco.

We recommend the day ticket called “BIGLIETTO GIORNALIERO PER IL CENTRO LAGO”, a day ticket, which is valid all day long and allows you to visit Bellagio, Tremezzo, Cadenabbia, Lenno, and Varenna, and stay in each town without any time limit, using boats as well as ferries. With this ticket you can also have a free entrance to the gardens of one of the Villas located in the central lake area.

Malpensa Bergamo Linate By Car: Exit the airport and follow the

signs to Milano. After 10km follow the green signs for Milano. You will pass by the following exits: Busto Arizio, Castellanza and Legnano. Exit at the sign for A9 Como. After 20 km you pass through a pall toll at Como Sud. Do Not exit at Como Sud or the next exit for Monte Olimpino. Exit at Como Nord. Follow this road for 2km down towards a large roundabout in Como town, take the left exit off the roundabout towards Menaggio. Drive approximately 24km until you reach the town of Menaggio. When you arrive at the traffic lights, take the road to the right. You will immediately see our office (Happy Holiday Homes) to the right-hand side, opposite the Banca San Paolo/Intesa.

By Car: Exit the airport and follow the

green signs for the motorway. Then take the motorway / autostrada to Milan (green signpost A4). You will need to pick up a ticket at the toll-station before going onto the motorway. After 35 km you reach the toll-station of Milano, you give them the ticket you got in Bergamo, pay a couple of Euros or give them your credit card and you carry on for approx. another 12 km. Then take the exit for A8, A9 Varese / Como. After 5 km you will come to another toll-station and pay approx. EU 1.80. Continue straight on for another 3 km and exit the motorway at A9 Como After 20 km you pay once again at a toll-station at Como Sud, but do not exit for Como here. Continue and also pass the exit for Monte Olimpino. Exit at Como Nord. Follow this road for 2km down towards a large roundabout in Como town, take the left exit off the roundabout towards Menaggio. Drive approximately 24km until you reach the town of Menaggio. When you arrive at the traffic lights, take the road to the right. You will immediately see our office (Happy Holiday Homes) to the right-hand side, opposite the Banca San Paolo/Intesa.

towards MILANO. After approx. 1500m, you will see two bridges (these are the motorway overhead). Following the signs closely, take the motorway to VENEZIA. Stay on this Motorway and drive for approx. 7 km, you will see the exit for CASCINA GOBBA - do NOT exit here but do take the next one exiting towards TORINO / COMO / VARESE. Continue on this motorway for 5km and drive through a Pay Toll - immediately after the Toll, turn right towards TORINO. Drive on this motorway (pass by the exit for CORMANO, then another exit approx. 12 km after). Finally exit the road towards A8, A9 Varese / Como. After 5 km you pass through another Pay Toll (approx. EU 1.80), drive for a further 3 km and exit the motorway towards A9 Como. After 20 km you pay once again at a toll-station at Como Sud, but do not exit for Como here.
