BOLD is a fantastic opportunity for first-year students who are striving for academic, social and professional success. The BOLD Learning Community is designed to support the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ diverse student population with representation and retention, and you can be a part of it!
The BOLD Learing Community offers three main components:• Orientation course in the fall and seminar course in the spring• 1:1 peer mentoring• Academic and social events with all learning
community students and peer mentors
In the BOLD Learning Community, you will:
• Build community and social interaction with fellow BOLD students• Meet with your Multicultural Liaison Officer for academic support• Network with faculty and staff• Encourage global citizenship through service-learning projects• Critically engage in learning about yourself• Participate in social events, faculty meet & greets, and learn more
about leadership opportunities
Each BOLD student will be matched with a peer mentor. Your peer mentor will be a multicultural upperclassman in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

BOLD is a non-residential Learning Community:• Multicultural students (American Indian/Alaska Native, African
American, Asian American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino/a, Multiracial) in any College of Liberal Arts and Sciences major
The learning community aims to engage multicultural first-year and transfer students who are not recipients of the George Washington Carver Scholarship, Hixson Opportunity Award, Multicultural Vision Program Award, or Science Bound Program. Students are also highly encouraged to participate in departmental learning communities.
