Mackintosh was one of the most sophisticated exponents of the theory of the room as a work of art, and created distinctive furniture of great formal elegance. Originally commissioned by Kidderminster Arts Festival 2015, with development and sound commissioned by Cryptic 2016, Luminous Birds is a sound and sight spectacular that is a magical experience for all the family!

To celebrate the 2016 Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, Glasgow Mackintosh, in conjunction with our partners at Wireframe Immersive, have created a 3D experience that will allow users to design and interact with a Mackintosh space.

We invite visitors to stand beside Mackintosh and see how his design perspective would be applied today.

The event features two 55 inch TVs showing the walkthrough that visitors are experiencing. Two visitors can experience this at a time. To wear the goggles you have to be aged 12 and over. There will be additional activities for younger people in the Glasgow Mackintosh unit on the first floor of St Enoch Centre where visitors can enjoy an accompanying exhibition: ‘Mackintosh the Innovator: Past, Present, Future’ – a competition run in conjunction with secondary schools in Glasgow.
