Manufacturingofsuperconductingniobiumcavitiesofdifferenttypes(elliptical,quarterwave,halfwave,
spoke andCH-mode) is oneof the core competences of RI. These cavities areproduced for all kinds
ofapplicationsandcustomersworldwide. With the installedmanufacturing infrastructureRI is able to

Prototype development of superconducting
cavities involvesinhousemetalforming, turning,
milling and electron beam welding. Achieving
both the mechanical tolerances and the correct
rf parameters (frequency, fieldflatnes, coupling)

Our scope of supplies is completed by RF couplers,
tuners pick-ups and other auxiliaries for all kind of
normalconductingcavityapplications.
In 2010 RI was contracted by DESY to deliver 300
elliptical 1.3 GHz cavities for the European XFEL
project. The contract includes mechanical
manufacturingofthecavities,thesurfacepreparation
for the cold RF test, and the joining of the helium
tanks.
An upgrade of the RI infrastructure includes a 150
