ABOUT IGUAZÚ
Ranked as the world's second largest ones, Iguazu Falls are located in South America, close to the
point where Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina join borders. The Iguazu River forms a border between
Argentina and Brazil. The majority of the falls actually lie in Argentina (Cataratas del Iguazú ) and the
rest in Brazil (Foz do Iguaçu ). Depending on the time of year, there can be several hundred individual
falls situated on a two mile stretch along a crescent shaped cliff. The height of the highest falls is
equal to a twenty-four story building, about 265 feet tall. The thunderous roar can be heard from
miles away. A major highlight of Iguazu is the fourteen waterfalls that make up Devil's Throat
(Garganta del Diablo.) The force of the water causes spray to rise one hundred feet and results in
ever-present giant rainbows. Iguazu Falls are a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The word Iguazu
come from the Native American Guarani word for "great water." The falls were forms by volcanic
activity approximately 100 million years ago.
The Iguazu falls are part of a semi-tropical jungle ecosystem. Both Argentina and Brazil have created
national parks surrounding the Falls. On the Argentinean side, there are jungle trails and bird hikes.
There are 500 species of birds, 80 species of mammals, and an immense variety of reptiles, fish, and
insects. The butterfly population is amazing. Park wild animals include tigers, jaguars, monkeys,
coatis, alligators, and crocodiles.
DAY 1: IGUAZÚ
Transfer from your hotel in Buenos Aires to domestic airport and fly to Iguazu. Arrival and transfer to
your Hotel. Accommodation at Saint George Hotel 4* with breakfast.
During the afternoon we will visit the Wanda Mines. The Wanda Mines: Amethyst Treasures of
Misiones. In the misted shadow of the largest waterfall of South America, Iguazú, lies Wanda Mines, a
peculiar side attraction worth a visit for those interested in gemstones, geology, or jewelry. Located
just 55 km (34 miles) to the south part of Iguazú Falls, these stone mines are easily accessible . A
knowledgeable local guide leads you down past fantastic geodes embedded in basalt to the caverns
where amethyst is extracted. The mines also contain topaz, quartz, jasper, rock crystal and agate. Pick-
your-own crystal is a no-no, but touching is encouraged, as are pictures posed in the narrow caverns
and arches of the mine. A small gravel lot, a kiosk, small café, and gift shop are the only developments
around the mines themselves. The environmental ramifications of the gemstone extraction at Wanda
Mines haven’t been studied, but it is small scale and delicate extractions forbade the use of heavy-duty
explosives, so environmentalist shouldn’t be too horrified.
The mining here also provides employment to local artisans from the gemstone extraction, processing
and sale of the stones. Tours end at the gift shop, where visitors can purchase polished and natural
stones, wind chimes and jewelry with precious and semi-precious stones.
Return to your hotel and night special Dinner with local food in a local restaurant.

SPECIAL TOUR MENDOZA FOR LACPEC First Departure 12th May – Second Departure 20th of May
Includes: Flights, Accomodation in 4* Hotel, breakfast, Dinners and excursions.
ABOUT MENDOZA
A bustling city of wide, leafy avenues, atmospheric plazas and cosmopolitan cafes, Mendoza is a trap.
Even if you’ve (foolishly) only given it a day or two on your itinerary, you’re bound to end up hanging
around, captivated by the laid-back pace, while surrounded by every possible comfort.
Ostensibly it’s a desert town, though you wouldn’t know unless you were told – acequias (irrigation
ditches) that run beside every main road and glorious fountains that adorn every main plaza mean
you’ll never be far from the burble of running water.
Lively during the day, the city really comes into its own at night, when the bars, restaurants and cafes
along Av Arístides fill up and overflow onto the sidewalks, with all the bright young things, out to see
and be seen. All over the country (and in much of the world), the name Mendoza is synonymous with
wine, and this is the place to base yourself if you’re up for touring the vineyards, taking a few dozen
bottles home or just looking for a good vintage to accompany the evening’s pizza.
Mendoza is 1050km west of Buenos Aires via RN 7 and 340km northwest of Santiago (Chile) via the
Los Libertadores border complex.
Strictly speaking, the provincial capital proper is a relatively small area with a population of only about
115,000, but the inclusion of the departments of Las Heras, Guaymallén and Godoy Cruz, along with
nearby Maipú and Luján de Cuyo, swells the population of Gran Mendoza (Greater Mendoza) to a little
over one million.
DAY 1: BUENOS AIRES / MENDOZA
Flight to Mendoza. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day: free.
Dinner included in a Local Restaurant.
DAY 2: MENDOZA
Breakfast. HIGH MOUNTAIN TOUR (Lunch Included)
The beauty of the Andes has its maximum expression in Mendoza. Very important places, from the
historic point of view and the landscape, make this tour into unforgettable experience. During the tour
you can appreciate the Potrerillos Reservoir and Cacheuta Valley. At 100km (62,14 miles) from the city
one comes to the Uspallata Valley, scene of the Huarpes indigenous settlement in the pre-Hispanic
period and a valley that makes it possible to differentiate the end of the Pre-Mountain range or
Foothills and the beginning of the Frontal Mountain Range. Near here we find ‘Las Bóvedas’ (‘the
Vaults’), historic adobe constructions very well preserved, where Brother Luis Beltrán, chaplain of the
Army of the Andes under the leadership of General José de San Martín, forged the canyons and
weapons with which he would free Chile.
The journey continues as we visit Picheuta, Polvaredas and Punta de Vacas Villages, from where we
access the famous village ‘Los Penitentes’, where we find one of the ski resorts in Mendoza. It works
from June to August and it is a good scene for adventure tourism the rest of the year. There are
chairlifts that make it possible to appreciate a privileged panoramic view of the area.
Further on, in Puente del Inca (‘The Inca’s Bridge’) at 2,720 meters (8,924 feet) above sea level, the
Cuevas River has bored through the mountain forming a natural bridge where on its bank, hot springs
appear on the surface. Near the area, we find the ‘Cementerio de los Andinistas’ (Cemetery of the
Mountaineer). Very close from the border, a magnificent natural viewpoint let us appreciate the
splendour of Mount Aconcagua. An unpaved road that starts from the International Route makes it
possible to drive a few kilometres into the beautiful Horcones lagoon and the Aconcagua Provincial
Park Continuing on the International Route we can see the customs office in Horcones and some
kilometres ahead, already in the border with Chile, we see Las Cuevas village, built in a European style,
at 3,200 meters (10,498 feet) above sea level.
Optional: Between Las Cuevas and the international tunnel that takes us to Chile, there is a road that, if
the weather conditions are favourable, takes us to the Monument ‘Cristo Redentor’ (The Redeemer
Christ), located at a height of 4,200 meters ( 13,780 feet), which symbolizes the brotherhood between
Argentinians and Chileans. We take the same route to go back to the city.
The tour ends back in Mendoza.
Dinner included in a Local Restaurant.
DAY 3: MENDOZA
Breakfast. WINE & FOOD TOUR
In the morning meeting with our host, the wine expert guide, who will join us throughout the tour.
Then start heading for the central agricultural oasis to visit a winery for the selected circuit, touring
their facilities and enjoy a tasting of their wines. The guide will teach the different varietals of the
region, its processes, and the care, breeding and fractionation of different types of wine. It will also
include extensive information on the systems of Vine and irrigation. At noon the second winery visit
and participate in a traditional lunch where we will implement the techniques of wine tasting. The
