The Idea:

Creating the routes• Two routes from Atlanta to Savannah

• Start at Sherman’s Battle of Atlanta Headquarters & finish at Forsyth Park in Savannah

• Use existing assets

• Safety first and above all else.

• Keep it as small-bore as possible. Serve the communities and cyclists along the routes. Create an economic development tool on a first name basis.

• Inform in a broader context & also cover the nuts ‘n bolts. Use Kindle, paperback, website, & Facebook.

The Two Routes

• Include US Hwys, State Hwy’s, County Roads, dirt & paved, 2 lane & 4 lane, multi-use paths.

• The Right Wing route is 330 miles and the Left Wing Route is 320 miles. Each route follows somewhat the routes of Sherman’s two armies marching to Savannah.

• Each route is divided into 6 day of riding.

• Depart Atlanta on Sunday morning, Arrive Savannah Friday afternoon.

Along the Way

• 0 Big Boxes, 1 McDonald’s, a few small strip malls

• 4 Cities, 11 Courthouses, 39 Small Towns,

• 26 County & Municipal Parks, 6 State Parks, 1 National Monument

• 206 Points of Interests

• 10,000 Convenience Stores

• 91 recommended small businesses

• 1/3 is early Georgia history and practical information about Southern culture, weather, pests, way-finding, and more.

• 1/3 is maps and cue sheets for the Right Wing route

• 1/3 is maps and cue sheets for the Left Wing route

• 1/12th is the After-Glow. Describes a bit about getting around in Savannah immediately after the ride.
