The Feasts of the Lord
I. BIBLICAL BACKGROUND
(Leviticus 23:23-25) “Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24
‘Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, “In the seventh month on
the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blow-
ing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall not do any labo-
rious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the
LORD.”’” (NASB)
II. ROSH HASHANAH

III. SCRIPTURAL OBSERVANCE
(Leviticus 23:23-25)
IV. JEWISH OBSERVANCE
A. Blowing the shofar symbolizes a call to remembrance and
repentance for the Jewish people.
B. Blowing the trumpet is to remind Jews of Israel’s covenant
relationship with their God.
C. Blowing the shofar is to confuse Satan on the day he ac-
cuses Israel of her sin.
(Zechariah 3:1-2)
D. Blowing the trumpet is to remind Jews of the eventual
regathering of Israel.
(Isaiah 27:12-13)
E. Blowing the shofar will signal the regathering of the
Jewish people from the Dispora back to Israel and the
holy mountain of Jerusalem.
F. Blowing the trumpet on earth on the first of Tishri in
heaven causes three books to be opened.
1. Book of the Righteous (Life)
2. Book of the Wicked (Dead)
3. Book of the In-between
