disabled. She is disconnected with the surrounding, in her world. Necessary to help her to wash clothes, clean herself…

Arumpa Sharlot , 8 years old (balance and coordination problems) In medium nursery in

2010 Born in 2002 in Nganiko Problem: child with

athetoid. She can´t move and take things with her hands properly because of problems with the balance and the muscles motor coordination. But she is always trying to improve by herself, always helping to the other disabled children who are living with her. Very sociable and smiling the most of the time.

Problem: mentally disabled. Also his left side is not ok. His left hand is contractured and he can´t use it properly. Sponsored by Lilianne Foundation through OURS Ngo. He´s orphan. His brother is the responsible person of him

Primary 1

Jumba Isaac , 11 years old (using walker. Also he can´t see well in the long distance) In P-1 in 2010 Born in 1999 in Kabuga Problem: problem in his

eyes. He can´t see well in the long distance. His legs are no enough strong to walk and he can´t extend totally his legs, so he is using a walker (it´s starting to be a bit small) to help himself to move . In the places where he can´t use the walker, he is going crawling(arrastrandose). Trying to get that he uses beds or chairs or things (if they are there, of course) that can help him to support him instead of to go crawling. Sponsored by Lilianne Foundation through OURS Ngo.

Kato Justus, 12 years old(burned right leg)

In -1 in 2010 Born in 1998 Problem: Burned his right

leg when he was a baby. The skin grew and unite the leg as we can see in the photo, so he can´t move the joint of the knee. He moves with the help of a crutch. OURS Ngo check him last 25th of february and they are thinking to arrange a operation for him but they need to arrange the things for the surgery with the parents. Waiting for their next visit the 25th of march.

Nahabwe Asaph, 18 years old(afected both arms and legs. Spasticty and contractures?) In P-2 in 2010 Born in 1992 Problem: in all the muscles of

the body. He can´t move properly, can´t take pencils or another things with the hands (but he is using his left foot to pick up the cup or plate or to write). But he is quiet independient to dress, feed and wash himself. In the beginning of the schoolar term he was quiet happy and smiling, but after a while he started to miss home, and he was crying and no eating and just lied down in his bed, so at the end sister Evangelist called to his parents and they decided to bring his sister to study also in this school. After her sister arrived he is better.

Nasasira Lauben, 11 years old (full prosthesis in left leg)

In P-3 in 2010

Born in 1999 in Kamwenge town council-Kiyima

Problem: long time ago he had a bad fracture in his left leg so they have to cut his leg over the knee. So he was using a crutch to move. Africa Directo Ngo helped to him to get a prothesis on october 2009. He is moving now without the crutch. He was feeling pain in the thigh(muslo) because of the prothesis, so we protected the area with a sponge, so now he is no feling pain. But it looks like the prothesis is bit big. OURS have to check it in the next outreach

Rwatoro Stephen,13 years old (problem in right side)

Kamwenge town council-Bigodi

Problem: his right side is affected, being no so strong as the left side. He can´t use right hand well and it´s dificult for him to keep his weight in the right leg. Before he has had epilepsy seizures. Now taking tablets that OURS provide to him to avoid them.

Ninsima Rovence, 15 years old(post-polio. Wheelchair)

In P-4 in 2010 Born in 1995 in Kyitagwenda Problem: after polio, she lose

strength in her legs and her left leg is shorter. She moves crawling over her knees, so she had a contracture in her knees and now she can´t stretch them. For the long distances she has a wheelchair. On february 2010 she got a new one from VSO-link, the one that is behind her in the photo. It´s starting to be a bit broken because the way where she has to go from dormitory to classroom is very bad for wheelchairs. But she is quiet independient for the daily cares. Very good friend with Niwayamba Midias, also in wheelchair after suffer polio

In P-4 in 2010 Born in 1995 in Mahyoro Problem: same than Ninsima

Rovence, afterpolio she lose strength in her legs. Left leg bit shorter than the other one. She doesn´t have contractures in knees, and she has all the movements of the legs. At the moment using a wheelchair (that is quiet destroyed) for the long distances. In the visit of OURS Ngo last november 2009 they told her that she can improve herself, and maybe is possible for her to move with crutches. Still necessary to check that.

Town Council Problem: in her ankles. She

got operation, so she can move better now. OURS checked her last 25th february 2010 and the only thing that she can do to improve herself, is some stretching exercises with the hips. She didn´t look like happy coming to make exercises with me and to loose classes, so I just explained to her that she can do these exercises by herself in the few free time they have.

Town Problem: deaf. The

mother explained us that before he had a hearing aid for a while and he started to talk, but now it lost that aid. We have a donnor and we will try to get one for him. We make alredy the audiogram and just waiting to receive the money and buy the hearing aid.

Problem: he fall from a tree in 2000 and he got cordon injury. Since then he can´t move the legs, but he can control when he needs to go for toilet.

Kamwenge town council- Kalambi

Problem: problems to concentrate while she is studying or doing other activities. No good in her self cares. It´s necessary to promote motorskills exercises with the hands.

Muhumuza Amos, 13 years old (problem in right side)

In P-3 in 2010 Born in 1997 in Kamwenge

town council-Galiraya Problem: right side affected.

He can´t use well the right hand. After few weeks we started to do some stretching exercises in wrist and elbow, he appeared one day with a braces (muñequera) in the right wrist. We were asking if it was because he was having pain there, but he explained us that it was to help his wrist to keep a proper position. OURS inform us that he only has to use that braces during the night. During the day is better for him to movilize as much as he can the wrist.

Problem: when he was 3 years old he had to get a operation in his right knee because it was swollen (hinchada). After the surgery his leg lose strength (fuerza) and he can extend the right leg as much as we can see in the photo.
