    National Disability Employment Awareness Month eachOctober recognizes the societal and work orce contributions o people with disabilities.

    Congress designated in 1945 the frst National Employ thePhysically Handicapped Week; the word physically was removedin 1962 to allow or the inclusion o all Americans with disabilities.

    In 1988, the week was extended to a month and changed its nameto National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
