DARE statistics 2011

This year saw a significant rise in eligibility for both DARE (+322)and HEAR (+899) applicants. There were 2551 online applications forDARE through the CAO of which 2160 (84.7%) providedsupporting documentation and were screened.

243 applicants were screened (i.e. supplied supporting documents)for both DARE and HEAR as against 40 in 2010.

Post-entry Supports for Students with Disabilities

• All students with a disability can register with the Disability Support Service, irrespective of whether they come through DARE or not.

• A needs assessment is conducted to identify your specific support requirements.

• Supports may include:

– Orientation Programmes– Learning Support – Assistive Technology– Library Support– Exam Support– Note-taking/Support Worker– Academic Tuition– On Campus Transport– Educational Assistant or Personal Assistant if student has profound physical needs
