ISSUE 145 April 2019
Welcome to our Activity Guide!
Dirigo Pines 9 Alumni Drive,
Orono, Maine 04473 (207) 866-3400
Professionally managed by Grace Management
From the Desk of the Executive Director… A little April Trivia for the month: April is named after the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. In the Roman calendar, the fourth month April is spelled Aprilis, meaning "to open." ... The name Aprilis, then, fits April, because in so many places in the north-ern hemisphere April is the month when trees and flowers begin to bloom and go on to flower. Transportation update: We have been challenged recently on Tuesday and Thursday transports because of the number of medical appointments we have scheduled. Because of this, we will be allowing a minimal number of medical transports on Wednesday or Friday (no charge), depending on availability of time. Please check with the front desk before confirming a medical appointment on Wednesday or Friday so that we can ensure the transport schedule has room. Several residents have asked about the Putting Green and the possibility of having a designated Bocce ball area. We absolutely will be “sprucing” up the Putting Green this spring, and are looking into where and the cost of creating an improved Bocce ball area. Stay tuned for updates on this once we have some definitive information. Hope everyone enjoys our spring as it slowly moves in…
