Your singing at our concerts was sublime. Directing you was pure joy. Thank you for your focus, and your presence. And thank you for all your preparation. Soon they will be open and catching the sunlight and Spring rain. That is a bit what a concert is like. We nourish the roots of our music through the dark evenings, slowly making sure that all the essentials for a healthy result are there, and then at a certain time we open into the full glory of the audience reaction. Which was wonderfully enthusiastic. Good for you! You came through all of the learnings of the notes, the dynamics, the phrasing changes, and the learning of the languages, and the offering was pure and healthy. My plaudits especially to those for whom this was their first GHC (and maybe their first ever) time of being on-stage performing in front of people. I am doubly happy that the GHC can be a crucible for that amazing experience for you. If you had as good a time musically as I did then I think we achieved something. On another note, I hope that many of you will come and hear John O'Donohue speak (and me play the harp) on Sunday Feb.18. The world is a better place for the wisdom that people like John bring to us. He is a totally engaging, soulful, and funny, speaker. He will be speaking some of his and others' poetry as well. I have no reservations whatever in recommending him highly to you. GETTIN’ HIGHER CHOIR INFO

GHC NEWS & BUSINESS DEAR CHOIR COMMUNITY (Updated repeat of Feb. 3 special) Our new web sites are now live - and we can't wait for you to check them out. http://www.gettinhigherchoir.ca http://www.communitychoirleadership.com http://www.ubuntuchoirs.net They're all interconnected, so if you get to any one, you'll find the others from there. On the GHC site, if you click on "concerts" and then “past concerts” you'll see that you can very easily post comments about the concert, and read what others have posted. Please pass this info on to your guests who attended the concert tonight - we'd love to hear directly from them about their experience. And of course, from you! These websites are the result of months of work by Denis, Gloria, Bill and myself. The sites were designed by Emrys Miller of Rocketday. We are thrilled with them - it feels a bit like giving birth - we can't wait to show our "triplets" off to you all! Happy exploring! ~ Shivon ********************** CONCERT FUNDRAISING RESULTS

Although the success of the concerts can never be truly measured in 'bottom-line' results it's great to know that our efforts resulted in raising substantial funds for the Power of Hope (http://www.powerofhope.org). Over 1000 people came to our concerts and although I don't have all of the financial details completed yet, we did raise well over $12,000. Many thanks to all of you. Gloria Hansen, Director's Assistant and Board Choir, Power of Hope ********************** HONORING FUND - $730 raised. Your generous individual donations to the honouring fund (in lieu of flowers for our guest artists, Shivon and Denis etc.) came to $730. This money will to the Power of Hope for Youth Scholarships to week-end or summer camps. To find out more about these programs visit the Power of Hope website. ~ Gloria ********************** SPECIAL CONCERT APPRECIATION Many thanks to the following who helped make everything look so seamless at the concerts. Door & Floor Angels Dave Platt and Michael Sheeley, for handling the front door so capably. Janet and Trevor Dossett and Anne Ravedin for CD sales Gita John, Program Manager for Power of Hope and her youth crew...Jeremy,Robin, Renie, Kim, Nejmah, Beth, Dean, Meghi, Lini, Iris and Seth - They did all the program stuffing, front door ushering, behind the scenes scampering to make it all work so well. Linda Chan who ushered...and many, many others who offered to help. Accommodation Angels: For the CCLT gang - many thanks to Andrew Alley, Sally Glover and Stuart Nemtin, Bill Huot, Barb Lyall, Kathleen Gunn, Celia and David Cheatley, Erin Robinsong, - you are all awesome. Our out-of-town Choir Leaders where so lucky to have you as hosts. For the PT Songlines gang - Aurelie Sterling, Chris and Bruce Tait, Merrie Christoff and Dale Shpak and many others who offered to help. Your generousity came through and shone for all of us in the choir. Public Relations Angels: This is the 3rd time that Artemis PR and Design has been central to the success of our concerts. For these concerts they did - Poster and Program design, all the press and other public relations well as such positive general support have made a huge difference - and it was all done pro bono. - We can thank them by passing along a recommendation to anyone we know who needs a great PR and Design firm to work with. Ticket Selling Angels: For many concerts, Munro's Books, Ivy's Books and the James Bay Coffee and Book Store have handled our public ticket sales for us. Many thanks to their management and staff for their continued support. ~ Gloria ********************** CHOIR BREAK (Reminder) Remember there is no choir until the week of

post SESSION & concert thoughts ILLUMINATA This beautiful, heartfelt cascade of thoughts from Hilary Leighton, Thursday Alto can be read by visiting the GHC's new site at http://www.gettinhigherchoir.ca and clicking on "concerts" and then on past concerts ********************** Hi

Norm and I attended the concert last night and it blew me away. Hearing Gaia and Pax was particularly touching with the "Treble Makers". They added such a beautiful dimension to Pax and the choir was a perfect backdrop with the quieter volume of voices supporting them. And of course "Holy Angels" brought me to tears again just as I experienced last September when I first heard it at practice. Thank you Shivon and Dennis for giving me such a gift and all your hard work and planning behind the scenes. Pat Todd, Monday Alto ********************** DEAR SHIVON, DENIS & CHOIR Just to let you know how much we enjoyed the evening! It was wonderful! The GHC was GREAT and so were the Treble Makers and the others! It was a FEAST of enthusiasm, inspiring creative peace and love messages for our planet and ourselves, combined with a flood of VITAMIN H. sprinkled all over all of us……It was feeling soooo good!! We are so blessed to have you in our community!! Thanks For Doing This Over And Over!! In deep appreciation for your work and that of the GHC, with best wishes for “Another World Which Will Be Possible”, from Marya Nijland (former HNC Soprano) and Philip Symons….Saturday Feb 3, 2007

The other day I received an email that is being forwarded around cyberspace titled “An Inconvenient Truth – Help List”. It provides an easily understood capsule explanation of Global Warming (the current hot topic) along with a list of things that we can each do in our own lives to help slow it down. It is eminently worth passing on. Rather than send it out as an email however I have posted it to the “Seeds On The Wind Publishing” section of my web site. PAST or DISTANT VOICES HI ALL, Kathy Coster, Leslie Wicks and i are sitting here thinking of you all singing tonight (Feb 2). Although we would love to be with you all, we are very happy to be here in guatemala. The first shipment of 50 stoves arrived 2 days ago and there will be a ceremony tomorrow morning - maybe there will be singing. I always wanted to tell you how moved I am whenever we sing ¨:Mother Mary¨ as I always think of the women of guatemala and how much they have suffered, especially by the impact of Hurricane Stan.

We will write more about our experiences here and about how much difference the money we raised from our wonderful choir has made in so many lives. Our spirits will be in harmony with you all tonight, Mary, Leslie and Kathy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QUOTE BREAK ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin…real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
