NTA 2005
The Cambridge University Press in association with South African Youth Development & Business Chamber (SAYDBUC) will sponsor the Western Cape with cash prizes for the 3 finalists per category at Provincial level

The following amendments are proposed to the following acts:
SASA: South African Schools Act EEA: Employment of Educators Act FET: Further Education Act
We will only highlight the significant draft amendments to SASA and the EEA.

The following amendments are proposed:
SASA Definitions
A few new definitions are proposed ( page 2 ) Section 9
Suspension and expulsion from public school (page 3) Section 35
Norms and standards ( Page 4) Section 39( page 4 and 5)
School fees at public schools Section 41( page 6)
Enforcement of payment of school funds Section 58
Expropriation( page 7 and 8)

EEATo provide for the refinement of the process
of the appointment of educators To provide for an appeal by a SGB against
the decision of the HOD to appoint an educator
Proposed amendments to the EEA
Section 6 ( insertion of a new paragraph 6(aa) to be considered by SGB’s before recommending to HOD)
Section 6 (ab) Submit a list of 5 candidates to the HOD in order of preference
Section 6 (ac) HOD may choose any candidate on the list
Section 6 (ad) Ensure that criteria was appliedSection 6 (ae) Decline recommendation if criteria
was not appliedSection 6 (af) Temporary teacher

Deletion of paragraph b and c of Section 6(3) Insertion of a new section b,c, d and e :
Appeal procedure for SGB’s Period for the appeal Period for MEC to finalised the appeal Discretion of the HOD
