Concert BandAll Band Classes ARE part of the Concert Band. Either 6th, 7th or 8th grade band Minimum after school practices (approximately 2 per year the day before the concert) These practices are listed on the band calendar. 3 mandatory performances

• Winter Concert Spring Concert Solo/Ensemble-Spring Concert Band Attire

• Male black dress pants, white long sleeve button down shirt, Black socks, and black dress shoes (no sneakers)

• Female Black dress pants or knee length skirt, white long sleeve button down collar shirt, black dress shoes (no open toe shoes)

Concert Band Fees $35 (includes Blue band t-shirt) Returning band members fee $25 unless a new shirt is needed*We will also be getting Polo Shirts again this year for our Dress Up Field trips. Cost is $15, but we will be collecting this the end of October.

*Band T-shirts are $10.

Marching BandVoluntary participation (Unless 8th grade to opt out of PE)

After school practices (approximately 2 per week)Approximately 8 performances per year

• Home PA football games• KHS/OLHS football game• Holiday Lights at the Beach Parade• Spring travel performance• Strawberry Festival Parade

Marching Band Attire• Uniforms will be provided, but students must wear band

t-shirt and shorts under uniform, black socks and black marching band shoes must be worn at all performances.

• Band Shoes Fee $22Yours to keep-also to wear with for Concert Band attire.

Orlando Florida: Still under approval. April 8 -12 2015. (leaving during Spring Break on Wednesday.)

Cost: @$610.00. Includes Chartered Bus, Tickets, Hotel room, and 3 meals a day. Cost depends on how many students and chaperones attend the trip. Based on 100 people.

You must be in year long band to attend the Spring trip and it is optional to attend. What groups are going- Concert Band and Marching Band.

Year Band and Semester BandSemester Band-Get to take other electives compared to year

long. If you come back in 7th grade band you will be a semester behind compared to year band.

7th Gr. Band- you can sign up for Zero Bell-PE, still take Band and a Foreign Language for High School credit or another class. (example a high school credit computer class)

8th Gr. Band- Marching Band counts as a PE credit. Take band and Foreign Language for High School credit or high school credit computer class.High Schools offer the same electives as middle school and more.

• Ensure happiness of all involved in band program.

Band EssayMusic Student Scholarship Essay Contest through SBO magazine.Due- Dec 19th online. Make a copy after you submit it and turn into Mr. Privette on or before Dec. 19th Topic- “How does your music class prepare you for life?….”

Top 5 Middle Students nationwide will receive $1000 scholarship for anything related to music.More details: go to www.sbomagazine.com then click on 2015 Essay Contest.

2014-2015 Band scheduleBand Monthly and Year Calendar.

Is on the Mr Privette’s Wiki page. Practice Time at homeStudents are expected to practice at home. at least 20 min. at least 5 days a week. Afterschool practice are from 4:00-5:30, they may ride the Activity bus after school home. The buses leave at 5:40.If a parent is not here by 5:35 to pick up their child the student will be put on the bus to ride home. All parents must not park in the Bus loop during Activity Bus pick up. Park in the front please.

• PAMS Band Member Form: (Name, bell, grade)• Top portion … for new students• Middle Portion…….Returning members only!

All Forms and Fees are due on October 1st, 2014
