Assistant Director Adair

Hi All You HOG's

Definitely starting to warm up out there. Hope that doesn't hinder the riding too much. If you go out, stay hydrated.

We are starting our regular HOGs and Dogs at both Tucson Harley and Old Pueblo Harley. Tucson will host HOGs and Dogs the 2nd Sat of the month, and Old Pueblo will host the 1st Sat of the month. This is a great opportunity for the folks on the east side to have a regular place to meet up. Let’s try to get as much support out as we can. Also, the stores are going to start a regular bike wash at both locations. See the list below for upcoming dates and time:

June 5 - Grilling at OPHD - 11am- Till It’s Gone.; June 12 - HOGs and Dogs

@ THD - 11am- Till It’s Gone

Lots of happenings this past couple of months. The Car & Bike Show held at

THD's parking lot on Saturday, May 8th, turned out a large crowd. People

want to get back to a normal life.

Several HOG members worked the food distribution passing out pizza, chips,

and water. The HOG Chapter got lots of donations.

The Mother's Day event at Crossroads Park was a good time for all those that

showed up. Cornhole, Jarts, and other games were played by the guys and

gals. Sharon Hurst held a hula-hoop dance off. Janie Clausen gave her a run

for the money but in the end it was none other than Woodstock swirling her

hips the longest.

We had a Ramada reserved for us. Coffee and donuts were provided and there was music provided by

Detroit.

Ramona is talking about holding another event there in the future, possibly a BBQ or hot dogs and burgers.

Let us know if you'd like to attend something like this.

As Porky Pig would say....."That's All Folks!"

Hello Tucson H.O.G.

Well, it's summer again in Tucson! You all know what that means! HOT weather!

So don't for get to hydrate the day before you ride and during your ride!

We have 96 members! I don't think that's so bad considering things are just starting to open up to what we would refer to as our old normal!

Sandy

Membership Tucson HOG 2021

We only regret the rides we didn’t take.

Head Road Captain Terry a.k.a. BROOM

Saints and Sinners results: Susan Webb got the high hand. Yours truly got the

low hand.

We are heading into our hot weather season where our lunch rides turn into breakfast rides. Still, watch your hydration. It's always important in Arizona.

Road captain candidates Eddie Young and Joe Butler continue to gain knowledge and experience to become full Road Captains.

If you have a ride you would like to take let one of the captains know and we will secure a lead for the ride and get it on the calendar.

Ride safe!

Ladies Of Harley Cheryl a.k.a. Woodstock

Happy Summer TUCSON HOG!!!

Every year in May is a chance for the ladies to get out, be seen,

and ride and enjoy INTERNATIONAL FEMALE RIDE MONTH,

and especially the 1st Saturday of the Month. Last year

everything was put on hold due to COVID. This year a meeting of

ladies was set to occur in Prescott at the Courthouse. There were

a couple of meet-up places, Kristina, Sandy, and I rode in to The

Helmet Center in Phoenix. After getting some photos, listening to

the ride briefing, and saddling up, we took off north to Carefree

Highway riding to Winkelman where there was a planned gas

stop for one of the 3 groups. We were in the group that continued on to Yarnell, stopped on the side of the road

waiting for all 3 groups to get back together. From there we rode as a large group into Prescott! Wow, the line

was long. Once at the courthouse, we sat on the lawn and had our lunch, then went on a scavenger hunt

looking for logos (on t-shirts, vests, etc). We tried to get them all, but halfway into our search one group was

already headed to turn theirs in, which meant they were the winners. Eh, it was fun anyway, and amazing that

a lot of the ladies didn't know about the scavenger hunt (the paper was handed out to each one).

After enjoying the time there, and getting in on a group photo, we began our journey back South. We stopped

to get gas and my bike began to act up. I got a bit further down the road before the bike began

spitting/backfiring, and just totally not what I needed at the time. Kristina was ahead of me, but she stopped at

the Chevron to see if we would continue. After I contacted Lindsay, I told Sandy to go ahead and continue as

she had other things to do that night, Kristina saw her ride by and they rode together. Me? I sat there until

Lindsay arrive with my trailer about 9, I witnessed a guy on a crotch-rocket rear end a car (he was fine, but

apparently the officer didn't think the guy should have been so wasted and took him to a lovely place in his

patrol car). The bike is now back in operation and I am happy about that.

We will see what June has in store for us.

Hello HOG’s!

Tomorrow I drop off my bike for its 20K tune-up. Twenty thousand miles! I know a lot of

you ride that much in a few months, probably. And in past years, I’ve covered more than

in 2020. Here’s to more opportunities in the rest of 2021.

A few weeks ago, my brother and I rode up to Show Low. What a great ride! Not just the

canyon. Also, the approaches to it. And how beautiful the land is up there.

On the way back, though, we saw smoke rising beyond the hills. The closer to Globe we got, the bigger the

smoke. And then, sure enough, there was a fire just north of Globe. Thing is: they ended up closing the road

about an hour after we passed through. Lucky us! I guess we’d have had to go back all the way around

through Payson. Some adventure that would have been. Pays to keep your tank full and your options open.

I do hope to go on a few minor adventures myself during this summer season and maybe into the fall. I’m looking forward to hearing about rides you-all have planned as well.

See you down at the dealership!

International Female Rider's Day Ride to the Helmet Center in Phoenix where our Tucson HOG members met up with other female riders. They continued on to Prescott via Winkelman & Yarnell. All met up at the Prescott Courthouse where they did a group photo and had lunch on the grass. Then the return ride back to Tucson. Cheryl's bike broke down before they got back to Phoenix and had to wait until she could get it towed home.

Date: 5-8-21 Destination: Coolidge - Bikes: 6 - Mileage: 64. LRC: Patrick - Sweep: Jeff Bales The group arrived at Tag's Restaurant where they were met by Susan & Allen Webb.

This was the first HOG ride for new member Al Atlas. Afterwards, they rode back to THD for the Car & Bike Show.

A lot of rides to report on which is nice. I doubt we have that many for next month as the 100 degree days are

back. Doesn't mean you can't get out and ride, just have to leave earlier or go early in the evening.

If you go out on a ride, forward me the info at either [email protected] or at [email protected]. Look

forward to reporting your rides.

I'd like to personally give a big thank you to HOG member Meg Young for her talents on producing a new

patch for our group. Her Photoshop talents are awesome!

At the most recent HOG ROC on line seminar, they asked members to come up with different events to get

members out and ride. Well, yours truly came up with an idea that maybe not all will like or participate in. I call

it the Monsoon Madness ride.

Hopefully (and praying for), a good Monsoon season this year. We could sure use the rain. Now the rule of

thumb is to never pull out in the rain. If you get caught in the rain that's one thing, but never start out to just go

on a ride if it's pouring out.

There was a patch made for riding in excessive heat called the Hellrider's patch. One had to ride for 30 miles

or more when the temperatures were 110+.

The Monsoon Madness patch will be earned if you ride during a monsoon rain for a period of 30 minutes or 30

miles. Take a photo of your odometer and yourself in the rain.

I had a sketch of an idea of what I wanted in the patch and Meg took it and turned it into a beautiful patch. It is

shaped in a half moon and has Monsoon Madness across the top. In the center is a big cloud letting out

raindrops and lightning bolts. There is a curved road with two motorcycles on it.

The artist's rendition is so much better than the actual patch. I took it to Renegade to have them make them.

They first have to digitize the design and shrink it down to a reasonable size. It's costly because of all the

stitch work and colors. As of press time it is still being made so when they become available, we'll put out a

picture of it.

All you have to do is get wet. Or not if you have good rain gear. We've all been somewhere riding when it

rained so let's be careful and have some fun with this.

Summer is almost upon us. Have fun and stay safe!

Safety Ron

Hello Tucson HOG members!

Our future HOG activities and rides are being planned out with a Road Captain

meeting on May 20th so check our calendar often for new rides. We will be

moving to more early rides and breakfast rides for summer to try and beat the

afternoon heat. If you have an idea for a ride that you would like to take,

please contact any of the road captains and we will work with you to get it on

the calendar. I am still working on the 68 Chevelle build in my garage. It’s

keeping me busy but I’m making good progress.

It was great to see all the people at the HD car and bike show. I got to take my

1956 chevy pickup to its first show. It was the pre-restored version and it will

be fun to take it back once it is restored. Keep hydration in mind as we ride in

the hot months coming up. Extra water bottles in your bags is a great idea as you never know when you may

have problems and need the water.

As always please check your bike condition before going out on any rides.

Ride safe until we meet again!!
