    We are required by law to tell you thatbefore we provide cover, you must fullyand faithfully tell us everything youknow or could reasonably be expectedto know that is relevant to our decisionto give you the insurance, otherwiseyou may receive no benefit from yourpolicy.

    your policy

    Your DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy is acontract between you and us and is made up ofthe information and any declarations submitted

    by you to us, the terms and conditions of use setout in or on our DirectAsia.com website, yourcertificate of insurance and these policy detailsand any other written change to these documentsthat is advised by us in writing (such as anamendment). Together, we will call thesedocuments your DirectAsia.com travel insurancepolicy or your policy.

    Your policy is proof of the contract between youand us. It is based on the information given byyou or for you when you applied for thisinsurance.

    This information is shown on your certificate ofinsurance. We will take it that you promise, as faras you know, that the information you have givenus is true.

    You will not be covered for anything that is notdescribed on your certificate of insurance.

    Subject to payment of your premium, your policywill become effective on the date and timespecified in your certificate of insurance andcontinues for the period of cover specified in yourcertificate of insurance, ending at 23:59 standard

    Singapore time on the last day of the period ofcover.

    Please read carefully your certificate of insurance

    and these policy details to make sure all theinformation in your policy is complete andcorrect.

    If you need to change anything, please contact usimmediately.

    The exceptions, exclusions, sums insured, limitsand payment requirements referred to in thesepolicy details apply to all sections of your policy.

    To the extent permitted by law, you will receiveyour policy electronically. There may be somedocuments that we cannot deliver electronicallydue to legal and technological constraints. Thesewill be posted to you.

    We will send you your policy documentselectronically when you purchase a single trippolicy. You can also either go online viawww.DirectAsia.com to view your policydocuments under My Account, call us at 6532 2888 or email us [email protected] to request fora copy.

    Your policy uses words that have definitemeanings. To make sure that you are aware ofthese words and their meanings, please read thelist of definitions set out in section 10.

    your duty to tell us

    The insurance cover under your policy is based onthe information you have given to us.

    When we agree to insure you, to renew or varyyour policy, or to pay your claim, our decisionrelies on the accuracy of the information you giveus.

    If that information is not accurate, we can reduceor deny any claim you make. We can also cancelyour policy and treat it as if it had never existed.

    To avoid any cancellation of your policy or non-payment of your claim, you must answerhonestly, correctly and completely the questionswe ask about:

    o

    you;o any other people who are or are to be insured

    under your policy;

    o the insurance history of you and any otherpeople who are or are to be insured underyour policy; and

    o any events involving you or any other personinsured under your policy that result in a

    claim on your DirectAsia.com travelinsurance policy.

    You must comply with:o all of the terms and conditions in your

    DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy;

    o any amendment to your DirectAsia.comtravel insurance policy; and

    o all of the terms and conditions set out on orin our DirectAsia.com website and which areand shall be deemed to be incorporated byreference in these policy details.

    eligibility

    Unless we agree in writing, each person who is tobe insured under this DirectAsia.com travelinsurance policy must meet all of the followingeligibility requirements from the start date ofyour policy:

    o be named as an insured person in yourcertificate of insurance;

    o you and your spouse must both be between18 and 70 years of age (both inclusive) for anew policy and between 19 and 75 years ofage (both inclusive) for renewal of such apolicy;

    o for an insured child of yours, he or she mustbe between 15 days and less than 18 yearsof age. If your child is unmarried and in full-time tertiary education, that child may beaged up to 24 years of age;

    o be a resident of Singapore;

    o the policy must be purchased before the tripcommences;

    o the trip must commence from Singapore andend in Singapore; and

    o be insurable in accordance with our termsand conditions.

    Please note that an insured person whois a child must travel with at least oneadult insured person for that childscover to be valid. This requirementapplies to both annual travel policiesand single trip policies under familyplan.

    Our family plan covers you, yourspouse and children together under anannual or single trip policy. You caninclude up to 4 children.

    at renewal for annual travelpolicies

    In order to offer you continued cover on yourannual DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy, wemay renew your annual policy automatically atthe premium and on the terms determined by us.You should be aware that we can only considerautomatic renewal when:

    o you have made us aware of and we haveaccepted any changes to your policy details(including those of all insured persons);

    o the credit card details given to us by youhave not changed; and

    o there are no outstanding payments or otherbreaches of your policy.

    Unless we hear to the contrary, we are entitled toassume that the details provided by you to us(including those of all insured persons) have notchanged and that you have the consent of thecredit card holder. We may then automaticallydebit the credit card we have on file with therenewal premium.

    You may opt out of automatic renewal at any timeby emailing us at least 14 days before the expiryof your policy.

    PPF Statement

    Your DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy isprotected under the Policy Owners' ProtectionScheme which is administered by the SingaporeDeposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC). Coveragefor your policy is automatic and no further actionis required from you. For more information on thetypes of benefits that are covered under thescheme as well as the limits of coverage, whereapplicable, please contact us or visit the GIA / LIAor SDIC websites ( www.gia.org.sg orwww.lia.org.sg or www.sdic.org.sg ) .

    is subject to the terms and conditions containedin these policy details.

    Under your policy, a trip is deemed to commencewhen the insured person leaves his residence orplace of business in Singapore (whichever is thelater) for a direct journey to commence his tripand ends:

    o upon his arrival at his residence or place ofbusiness in Singapore (whichever is theearlier); or

    o two hours after the insured persons arrivalin Singapore,

    whichever is the earlier.

    Coverage for trips outside Singapore is subject tothe time limit(s) described on your certificate of

    insurance.If you or an insured person is on a trip outsideSingapore for a period in excess of 182consecutive days (for a single trip DirectAsia.comtravel policy) or 90 consecutive days per trip (foran annual DirectAsia.com travel policy), thenyour policy will not cover you for the period oftime you or that insured person is outsideSingapore in excess of 90 consecutive days (forannual policies) or in excess of 182 consecutivedays (for single trip policies). The cover for

    annual travel policies will reactivate upon your orthat insured persons next trip outside Singapore.

    automatic extension of policy coverIf at any time during the trip the insured personis hospitalised and/or quarantined outside

    Singapore as directed by a doctor, then yourcover will be extended by an additional 30 dayseven if this goes past the original period ofinsurance or past the 90 or 182 day limitsreferred to above. We will also automatically extend your cover ifthe public transport in which you are travelling isdelayed through no act or omission of yours, withthe result that your trip is not completed whenyour original period of insurance expires.

    This extension is for a maximum of 14 days orwhen you arrive back in Singapore, whichever isthe earlier.

    Important Note: The benefits described in thissection 3 are subject to the maximum limits ofyour insurance as detailed in these policy details(including the personal liability limits detailedbelow in these policy details) and on yourcertificate of insurance.

    All amounts payable by us under the policy shallnot exceed in aggregate the total policy limits setout in these policy details and/ or on yourcertificate of insurance.

    Your certificate of insurance and these policydetails set out and describe the benefits availableto you and to all insured persons.

    your policy benefits

    The benefits described in this section 3 arepayable only if the insured event affects aninsured person while he is covered under yourpolicy.

    Our maximum liability in respect of one or moreaccidents during a period of insurance will notexceed the limits of the sum insured specified inthese policy details and on your certificate ofinsurance.

    All limits and amounts that may be payable by usto you as shown in these policy details and onyour certificate of insurance are in Singaporedollars and are inclusive of goods and servicestax.

    Your final policy cover depends on the type andlevel of DirectAsia.com travel insurance youchoose and is subject to the things that we do notcover as described in these policy details. Wehave the right to ask you to provide us with acertification of your condition and/or injury by adoctor of our choosing. In this event, our chosendoctors certification shall be final and binding onyou.

    The available DirectAsia.com travel insurancecovers are:

    accidental death and total andpermanent disablement

    If an insured person sustains injury in an accidentthat occurs during a trip within the period ofinsurance, and the injury results in death or totaland permanent disability within 90 days of thataccident, we will pay the sum insured specified onyour certificate of insurance.

    We will pay for the insured person only onceunder this cover up to 100% of the sum insuredas shown in the table below and not for bothdeath and total and permanent disability.

    This benefit does not cover death or total andpermanent disability caused by:

    x food poisoning and/or drinks poisoning;

    x illness, sickness, infirmity, psychiatricdisorder including insanity, bacterial or viralinfections even if contracted by accident,except for any infection that is a direct resultof an accidental cut or wound; and/or

    x any pre-existing medical condition.

    medical expenses

    If an insured person suffers injury or sicknessduring a trip, we will reimburse or pay up to themaximum limit for the following:

    o medical expenses necessarily incurred for

    medical treatment of that injury or sicknessoutside Singapore;

    o medical expenses necessarily incurred for apregnancy related sickness outsideSingapore;

    o medical expenses necessarily incurred formedical treatment or follow-up treatment inSingapore for that injury or sicknesssustained outside Singapore; and

    o expenses of a chinese medical practitionernecessarily incurred for medical treatment orfollow-up treatment of that injury or sicknessby a chinese medical practitioner either

    outside Singapore or upon the insuredpersons return to Singapore to continue withtreatment in Singapore for up to a maximumof 60 days after that persons return toSingapore.

    When medical treatment was sought outsideSingapore, we will cover the insured person formedical expenses in Singapore for a maximum of60 days from his return to Singapore forcontinuation of that treatment in Singapore.

    When medical treatment was not sought outsideSingapore, provided the insured person seekstreatment in Singapore within 48 hours of hisreturn, then the insured person will be coveredfor treatment in Singapore for a maximum of 60days from the date of his return to Singapore.

    Reimbursement of expenses incurred for medicaltreatment or follow-up treatment by a chinesemedical practitioner is limited to one consultationper day and up to a maximum of $300 peraccident and/or event.

    This benefit does not cover any medical or otherexpenses:

    x due to events occurring during the first 12weeks of pregnancy;

    x due to an ectopic pregnancy, childbirth(including premature childbirth or stillbirth);

    x due to or related to abortion or miscarriage,except if caused by an accident and notattributable to any natural causes and/orsickness;

    x for tests or treatment relating to fertility,contraception, sterilization, birth defects orcongenital illness;

    x due to or for any depressive, psychological orpsychiatric illness or sickness including postnatal depression;

    x that are refundable to you by any other

    person or source; and/orx due to or arising from any pre-existing

    medical condition.

    The maximum amount of medical expenses thatwe will reimburse is detailed on your certificate ofinsurance.

    evacuation and repatriation

    The maximum limits payable under youremergency medical evacuation cover will beaggregated with your repatriation of mortalremains or local burial cover.

    We will not pay you or an insured person any

    more than the maximum limit payable for theaggregate of evacuation and repatriation coverthan is detailed on your certificate of insurance.

    emergency medical evacuation

    If an insured person suffers injury or sicknessduring a trip and in our opinion or the opinion ofour appointed assistance company (or theirauthorised representative(s)) it is medicallyappropriate to move that insured person toanother location for medical treatment or returnto Singapore, our appointed assistance companyor their authorised representative(s) will arrangefor the evacuation of that person.

    We or our appointed assistance company willhave the absolute right to decide on:

    o the evacuation location; and

    o how the evacuation will be carried out,

    after considering relevant facts andcircumstances, including the medical severity ofthe insured persons condition, which we or our

    appointed assistance company is aware of at thattime.

    If an emergency medical evacuation is requiredand takes place, our appointed assistancecompany will pay for the insured persons returnif his original ticket is not valid for this purpose.

    The insured person will be flown by scheduledairline on economy class or any other appropriatemeans of transportation (which may include seaor land transportation) as determined by ourappointed assistance company.

    We will at our option pay our appointedassistance company directly for expensesauthorised by us and incurred by our appointedassistance company pursuant to your policy, upto the limit detailed on your certificate ofinsurance.

    repatriation of mortal remains or localburial

    If an insured person dies during a trip resultingfrom an injury or sickness sustained during thattrip, our appointed assistance company will makeall necessary arrangements (including proceduresto meet local requirements) to return the insuredpersons body or ashes to his home in Singaporeor another country of his next of k ins choice.

    As an alternative, and subject to local laws, uponspecific request of the insured persons next ofkin, and where possible, our appointed assistancecompany will organise and pay for the cost oflocal burial in the country in which the insuredperson was visiting at the time of his death.

    Our financial responsibility under this cover islimited to the maximum limit detailed on yourcertificate of insurance.

    If the insured persons body or ashes wererepatriated to a country other than Singapore orwere buried locally in the country in which theinsured person was visiting at the time of hisdeath, we will only pay expenses up to theamount we would have incurred to return thebody or ashes to Singapore.

    general conditionso While our appointed assistance company

    provides services on a worldwide basis, it willnot be required to provide such services toinsured persons who are located in areaswhich represent war risks or politicalconditions such as to make such servicesimpossible or reasonably impractical.

    o Neither we nor our appointed assistancecompany will be responsible for any failure toprovide services or for delays caused bystrikes or conditions beyond our and/or itscontrol (including flight conditions and wherelocal or regulatory agencies prevent ourappointed assistance company fromproviding such services).

    o You and all insured persons acknowledge andaccept that our appointed assistancecompany and the professionals and otherpersons to whom our appointed assistancecompany has referred the insured person areresponsible for their own acts as independentcontractors and are not employees, agents orservants of DirectAsia.com.

    We are not and will not be responsible for any

    act or failure to act by our appointedassistance company or these professionalsand other persons (e.g. doctors, hospitalsetc).

    o If the services and benefits provided by ourappointed assistance company under theserepatriation of mortal remains or local burialcover and emergency medical evacuationcover are covered entirely or partially byanother insurance policy or other health planheld by you or an insured person, we will onlybe responsible for a rateable portion of thecost of such services and benefits.

    o If, when using these services, the insuredperson has any unused portion of a travelticket, that ticket must be transferred andsurrendered to us.

    o We are entitled at any time at our expense,to take over and conduct proceedings in yourname and/or the name(s) of the insuredperson(s) to obtain compensation orpayment from another party for any loss orinjury that gives rise to the rendering of theservices under these benefits.

    o We and our appointed assistance companywill not be liable for:

    x services rendered (including evacuation orrepatriation) without the priorauthorisation or intervention of ourappointed assistance company. Wereserve the right to waive this exclusion ifyou or your travelling companion(s)cannot for reasons beyond your/theircontrol notify our appointed assistancecompany during an emergency situation.In such event, we will reimburse you onlyfor those expenses incurred for serviceswhich our appointed assistance company

    would have provided under the samecircumstances;

    x services provided by any party other thanour appointed assistance company forwhich no charge is usually made;

    x medical treatment administered orprovided by relatives, whether or notqualified;

    x costs which would have been payable if theevent that led to our appointed assistancecompanys intervention had not occurred;

    x minor injury or sickness which, in theopinion of our appointed assistancecompanys doctor, can be adequatelytreated locally and which does not preventthe insured person from continuing the

    travel;x expenses incurred where, in the opinion of

    our appointed assistance co mpanysdoctor, the insured person is physicallyable to return to Singapore as a normalpassenger and without medical escort;

    x any event occurring or treatment receivedwhen you are in Singapore; or

    x the cost of burial in Singapore.

    loss of personal possessions

    Any amounts payable by us under this loss ofpersonal possessions cover for the personalpossessions detailed below (namely, baggage,personal effects, travel documents, personalmoney and credit card cover) will be aggregatedand shall not exceed the maximum limit for thiscover as detailed on your certificate of insurance.

    You must take all reasonable care to safeguardyour personal possessions while travelling.

    If you leave your personal possessionsunsupervised in a public place we will not payyour claim.

    baggage

    We will pay for an insured persons loss of ordamage to those items of luggage, valuables andpersonal effects owned by that insured personand while that insured person is on a trip beinglimited to:

    o luggage bags (including clothing andpersonal effects which are stored in theluggage bags) owned by and either handcarried or checked in by the insured person;

    o valuables (including watches and jewellery)owned by and worn or carried by the insuredperson;

    o clothing and personal effects owned by andthat are on, worn or carried by the insuredperson;

    o one laptop computer and its standardaccessories owned by and carried by theinsured person; and

    o one mobile phone or personal digitalassistant (pda) and its standard accessoriesowned by and carried by the insured person.

    The amount we will pay will be the original pricepaid for the owned item or pair or set of items(less allowance calculated by us for wear, tearand depreciation) or the limits set out below,whichever is lower:

    $500 o with receipt and purchase date is within 1 year: subjectto the limit, we will pay the higher of the purchase priceor the trade-in value

    o with receipt and purchase date is more than 1 year ORwithout receipt: subject to the limit, we will pay thehigher of the published value in the relevant Singaporetelecommunication companys mobile phones trade inlisting or $50

    o with receipt and purchase date is more than 1 year ORwithout receipt: subject to the limit, $50 if the model isnot found in the relevant Singapore telecommunicationcompanys mobile phones trade in listing.

    We retain the right to either make payment or, atour option, reinstate or repair.

    For items (laptop, mobile phone or pda) where thereceipt is unavailable, a proof of purchase (suchas a warranty card, certificate etc) must beprovided to us.

    If any article is proven to be beyond economicrepair, the claim will be dealt with as if that itemhad been lost or stolen.

    In the event of loss or damage to any insuredproperty that forms part of a pair or a set, ourliability shall not exceed a proportionate part ofthe value of that pair or set.

    We shall only be responsible to pay a maximum of$500 for any one item or for any pair or set ofitems for valuables, mobile phone or pda.

    A pair or set of items shall be deemed as onesingle item inclusive of its standard accessories,batteries, lenses and the like (for example and notlimited to a pair of shoes; a bike and any of itsaccompanying accessories; a camera and itsaccompanying lens and any accessories even ifpurchased separately and are of different brands;a set of diving gear and any accessories even ifpurchased separately and are of different brands).

    We require that any loss of baggage, valuablesand personal effects must be reported by theinsured person to the police having jurisdiction atthe place of the incident within 24 hours after theincident.

    travel documents

    We will pay up to the maximum limit for:

    o the cost of replacing passports, travel ticketsand other relevant travel documents of aninsured person that were lost or damagedduring that insured persons trip due torobbery, burglary or theft; and

    o the reasonable and additional travel andaccommodation expenses that arenecessarily incurred to replace traveldocuments that were lost or damaged due torobbery, burglary or theft during a trip by thatinsured person.

    We require that any robbery, burglary or theft thatresults in the loss of or damage to passports,travel tickets and other re levant travel documentsmust be reported by the insured person to thepolice having jurisdiction at the place of theincident within 24 hours after the incident.

    We also require that any claim made by an insuredperson under this cover must be accompanied bywritten documentation confirming the incident,listing each lost item (with serial numbers whereavailable)

    and issued by the police who have jurisdiction atthe place of the incident and to whom the insured

    person reported the incident.

    personal money

    We will pay up to the maximum limit of $500 intotal for the loss of cash, banknotes and travellerscheques due to robbery, burglary or theft duringa trip.

    We require that any loss of credit card(s) must bereported by the insured person:

    o to the credit card issuer(s) within 6 hoursafter becoming aware of the incident; and

    o in the case of robbery, burglary or theft to thepolice having jurisdiction at the place of theincident within 24 hours after the incident.

    We require a report issued by the credit cardcompany or companies to be provided to ussubstantiating the report of the loss and providingdetails of any unauthorised transactions.

    In the case of robbery, burglary or theft, we alsorequire that any claim made by an insured personunder this cover must be accompanied by writtendocumentation confirming the incident and issuedby the police who have jurisdiction at the place ofthe incident and to whom the insured personreported the incident.

    This credit card cover is not available and does notapply to an insured person below the age of 18years.

    what we will not pay

    We will not pay claims for loss of personal

    possessions for:x losses not reported within 24 hours (or in the

    x loss of baggage, money or other insuredproperty left with a concierge or other hotelemployee or any person you have notpreviously met;

    x loss of consumables and perishables includingfruits, food and medication/supplements;

    x loss of valuables, clothing, personal effects(including personal money), laptop, mobilephone or pda not on, worn or carried by theinsured person;

    x business goods or samples, data on tapes,discs or cards, portable computer ortelecommunication equipment, software andaccessories;

    x loss or damage caused by wear and tear,depreciation, deterioration, insects, vermin,mildew, atmospheric conditions, the action oflight, any process of heating, cleaning,repairing, restoring, mechanical or electricalbreakdown, misuse, faulty design orworkmanship;

    x delay, detention, seizure or confiscation bycustoms or other government officials;

    x unexplained disappearance, or shortage dueto error, omission or exchange ratedifferences or depreciation in value;

    x any fine or penalty that the insured personincurs due to non-replacement or latereplacement of the lost personal documents;

    x loss or damage which could have beenavoided by the taking of reasonableprecautions; and/or

    x loss or damage of property where we havereasonable grounds for believing that yourclaim is not made in good faith.

    delayed baggage

    If during a trip an insured persons checked -inbaggage is temporarily lost in transit ormisdirected by the carrier and not restored to himwithin 6 hours after his arrival at the baggagepick- up point of that persons scheduleddestination both outside and back in Singapore,we will pay the insured person an amount of $200for every full 6 hours of delay up to the limit shownon your certificate of insurance.

    If the delay results in loss of personal possessions,we will either pay for delayed baggage or loss ofpersonal possessions, whichever is higher invalue, but not for both.

    what we will not pay

    We will not pay for claims in respect of:

    x delay, detention, seizure or confiscation bycustoms or other government officials;

    x delay which could have been avoided by thetaking of reasonable precautions; and/or

    x delay not reported within 2 hours of discoveryof the delay to the airline, transport companyor other carrier who had custody or control ofthe baggage or property and who may beresponsible for the delay;

    x delay of baggage mailed or transportedseparately from you;

    x delay where we have reasonable grounds forbelieving that your claim is not made in goodfaith.

    travel cancellation, tripdisruption , travel delay andtravel cancellation due toinsolvency

    Any amounts payable under your travelcancellation, trip disruption, travel delay andtravel cancellation due to insolvency covers will beaggregated and shall not exceed the maximumlimit and any applicable sub-limits detailed onyour certificate of insurance.

    travel cancellation

    If an insured persons trip is unavoidably cancelledwithin 30 days before the start of the trip but afterarranging it due to:

    o death of the insured person, any member ofhis family or his travel companion;

    o serious injury of the insured person, anymember of his family or his travel companion;

    o serious sickness of the insured person, anymember of his family or his travel companion;

    o a natural disaster, an Act of God or adverseweather conditions which prevents theinsured person from making that trip;

    o an unexpected outbreak of strike, riot or civilcommotion arising in the planned destination

    and which is beyond the insured personscontrol; or

    o an epidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other such similarhealth hazard in the planned destination,

    we will pay up to the amount stated on yourcertificate of insurance for the unused travel fare,accommodation charges and deposits that theinsured person has paid or is legally obliged to payand which are not recoverable from any othersource.

    To make a claim under this cover:

    o for death, we require the relevant formaldeath certificate;

    o due to serious injury or serious sickness, we

    require you to provide us with writtenconfirmation from a doctor on the nature ofthe serious injury or serious sickness; or

    o due to:

    a natural disaster, an Act of God oradverse weather conditions whichprevents the insured person frommaking that trip;

    an unexpected outbreak of strike,riot or civil commotion arisingbeyond the insured persons controlin the planned destination; or

    an epidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other suchsimilar health hazard in the planneddestination

    a report, notice, warning, advisory or other suchsimilar thing must have been published orproduced before the start date of your trip butafter the date you arranged that trip by agovernment, government authority or otherinternationally recognised entity and whichadvised against:

    travelling to the planned destinationor to any part of the planneddestination because of a strike, riot,bad weather, civil commotion; or

    travelling to the planned destinationor to any part of the planneddestination because of a reportedepidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other suchsimilar health hazard in the planneddestination; or

    travelling to the planned destinationor any parts of that planned

    destination for any other reason orcause.

    what we will not pay

    We will not pay for claims where you are:

    x travelling against the advice of the massmedia and/or any government or official bodyto any particular country or parts of acountry;

    x travelling against the advice of the massmedia and/or any government or official bodyin respect of a strike, riot, bad weather, civilcommotion, epidemic, pandemic, contagiousdisease or other similar health hazard; or

    x travelling to a country which has beenreported to be suffering from an epidemic,pandemic, outbreak of contagious disease orother such similar health hazard in theplanned destination prior to thecommencement of the trip.

    trip disruption

    If an insured persons trip is disrupted due to:

    o the unexpected death of that insured personor of any member of his immediate family orof his travel companion;

    o the serious injury of a member of that insuredperson or of any member of his immediatefamily or of his travel companion;

    o the serious sickness of that insured person orof any member of his immediate family or ofhis travel companion;

    o hijacking of the aircraft in which the insuredperson is on board as a passenger;

    o a natural disaster, an Act of God or adverseweather conditions which prevents theinsured person from continuing with that trip;

    o an unexpected outbreak of strike, riot or civilcommotion arising from circumstances in theplanned destination which is beyond theinsured persons control; or

    o

    an epidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other such similarhealth hazard in the planned destination,

    we will

    o reimburse the insured person for theproportional return of that part of the prepaidcost of that insured persons trip which is notrecoverable from any other person or source;

    o pay for any additional economy classtransport expenses (air, sea or land travel)and reasonable hotel costs that arenecessarily incurred by reason of any of theevents mentioned above for this tripdisruption cover.

    Our calculation will be prorated for each full day ofthe trip that is lost. Our payment shall includereasonable additional hotel costs that arenecessarily and unavoidably incurred due to thenecessary and unavoidable curtailment ordisruption of the insured persons trip.

    travel delay

    If during a trip an insured person is booked totravel on a public transport and the scheduleddeparture of that public transport or scheduledarrival at the planned destination is delayed fromthe time specified by the carrier for a minimum of6 hours and:

    o the delay is due to strike or other industrialaction, riot, civil commotion, a naturaldisaster, an Act of God, adverse weatherconditions or the mechanical breakdown orderangement of that public transport;

    o an epidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other such similarhealth hazard in the planned destination;

    o the insured person has checked-in inaccordance with his original itinerary; and

    o the carrier or their handling agent provides uswith a written confirmation of the delay, thereason for the delay and length of the delay,

    we will pay the insured person $100 for every full6 consecutive hours of delay up to the maximumlimit detailed on your certificate of insurance.

    We will either pay for delayed departure ORdelayed arrival, whichever is the lower in value,but not for both.

    For this cover, travel delay includes diversion ofyour public transport, an overbooked publictransport where the carrier did not permit you totravel or a missed travel connection due to a delaycaused by the public transport on which you weretravelling.

    We will not pay for any resultant delay costs orexpenses due to the delay of the public transportnor will we pay for any additional expensesincurred in connection with such delay.

    If during a trip the insured person is booked totravel on a public transport and the scheduled

    departure of that public transport is cancelled bythe carrier and:

    o the cancellation is due to strike or otherindustrial action, riot, civil commotion, anatural disaster, an Act of God, adverseweather conditions in that planneddestination or the mechanical breakdown orderangement of that public transport;

    o an epidemic, pandemic, outbreak ofcontagious disease or other such similarhealth hazard in the planned destination;

    o the insured person has checked in, inaccordance with his original itinerary; and

    o the relevant carrier or its handling agentprovides us with written confirmation of thatcancellation, the reasons for that cancellation

    and details of the amount of refund due to theinsured person,

    we will reimburse the insured person for thedifference between the refund receivable from thecarrier and the cost of the next availableequivalent ticket to facilitate continuation of thetrip, up to a maximum of $500.

    We will not pay for any delay due to thecancellation of the public transport by the carrierand/or any additional expenses incurred inconnection with this cancellation including missedflights.

    travel cancellation due to insolvency

    If an insured persons trip is unavoidably cancelleddue to insolvency of:

    o a Singapore-licensed travel agency which is amember of the National Association of TravelAgents Singapore from which the insuredperson purchased the trip; or

    o an airline that flies in or out of SingaporeChangi international airport,

    we will reimburse the insured person for the lossof irrecoverable travel deposits or travel fares paidin advance, up to the amount detailed on yourcertificate of insurance.

    We will not pay for any loss under this travelcancellation due to insolvency cover:

    x where your policy was purchased 7 days orless before the date of departure;

    x caused directly or indirectly by governmentregulations or control;

    x caused by cancellation by other provider(s) ofthe travel and/or accommodation;

    x that is covered by any other existinginsurance scheme or governmentprogramme;

    x which will be paid or refunded by a hotel,airline, travel agency or other provider(s) ofthe travel and/or accommodation; or

    x insolvency that happened, or for which awinding up application or petition forbankruptcy or company winding up (or suchother like matter) was filed or made beforethe start date.

    what we will not pay

    For each of the travel cancellation, trip disruption,travel delay and travel cancellation due toinsolvency covers, we will not pay:

    x if any strike, industrial action, riot, civilcommotion, Act of God, natural disaster oradverse weather conditions started, has beenannounced or has occurred on or before thedate of purchase of your policy for single tripDirectAsia.com travel policies and before thedate of booking or reservation of your trip inthe case of an annual DirectAsia.com travelpolicy;

    x where the planned destination has beenreported (prior to the commencement of thetrip) by the World Health Organisation or anygovernment or government authority, to besuffering from an epidemic, pandemic,outbreak of a contagious disease or any other

    such health hazard;x if your policy was purchased after you

    became aware of any circumstances whichcould lead to the disruption of the trip;

    x if the reason or cause of the delay was madeknown or was informed publicly prior to thepurchase of your policy for single tripDirectAsia.com travel policies and before thedate of booking or reservation of your trip inthe case of an annual DirectAsia.com travelpolicy; and/or

    x for any failure on you or an insured personspart to:

    check for the departure time specified bythe carrier or any changes prior todeparture; and/or

    notify the travel agent, tour operator,carrier or other provider of any serviceforming part of the booked itinerary ofthe need to cancel or abandon the travelarrangement immediately if it is foundnecessary to do so;

    x for any loss arising from or relating to:

    your business, financial or contractual

    obligations or those of your travellingcompanion;

    unlawful acts of or criminal proceedingsagainst any person on whom the bookedtrip depends;

    curtailment of your trip due to yourfinancial circumstances;

    curtailment of your trip due togovernment regulations, acts or decrees;

    curtailment of your trip due toamendment of that trip (whether througherror, omission or default) by theprovider of any service forming part of

    that trip (including the agent or touroperator through whom the trip wasbooked); and/or

    cancellation, curtailment or delay due toyou, an insured persons and/or yourtravel companions disinclination totravel.

    rental car excess benefit

    This rental car excess benefit is not available anddoes not apply to an insured person under the ageof 18 years.

    If, during a trip, an insured person rents or hiresa motor car:

    o from a licensed rental agency; and

    o that rental or hire agreement requires theinsured person to pay an excess or deductiblein respect of loss or damage to the rentalmotor car caused by an accident,

    we will reimburse that insured person for theexcess or deductible up to the amount detailed onyour certificate of insurance.

    We will only be obliged to pay a claim under thiscover if:

    o the in sured persons legal responsibility topay the excess or deductible is as a result of

    loss or damage to the motor car caused bycollision or theft while it is in the control ofthat insured person;

    o the insured person complies with allobligations at law in the country where themotor car is being driven or used;

    o as part of the rental or hiring arrangements,you have taken up a comprehensive motor

    insurance policy against loss or damage of therental motor car;

    o the insured person complies with allrequirements of the rental agreement;

    o the insured person is duly licensed to drivethe motor car at the time of the accident ordamage;

    o the insured person does not drive the motorcar off a public road or take part in speed ortime trials of any kind; and

    o the loss or damage does not arise from wearand tear, gradual deterioration, damage frominsects or vermin, inherent blemish, latentdefect or damage.

    All other types of motor vehicles including motor

    cycles, trucks and vans will not be covered by thisbenefit.

    personal liability

    If, during a trip, an insured person becomeslegally liable to pay compensation for an accidentthat results in:

    o the death or injury of another person; and/or

    o the loss of or damage to property belongingto another person,

    we will indemnify that insured person up to theamount detailed on your certificate of insurance.We will also pay for legal costs and expenses

    incurred by the insured person provided that theseare only incurred with our prior written consent.

    The maximum amount we will pay under thispersonal liability cover in any one period ofinsurance is limited to and shall not exceed theamount detailed on your certificate of insurance,regardless of the number of insured personsinvolved or the number of occurrences, whetheror not arising from the same source or originalcause.

    what we will not pay

    Under this personal liability cover, we are notresponsible for and will not pay for:

    x any liability arising from an insured personswilful, malicious, unlawful or dishonest act;

    x any liability arising from personal injury orbodily injury or loss of, damage to, or loss ofuse of property, directly or indirectly causedby seepage, pollution or contamination;

    x any liability arising from personal injury orbodily injury or loss of, damage to, or loss ofuse of property, directly or indirectly caused

    by or out of a traffic or motor accident whilethe insured person was driving a motorvehicle;

    x any liability arising before thecommencement of the trip;

    x any liability arising after the end of the trip;

    x any liability arising from:

    death or bodily injury of the insuredpersons employee or any member of theinsured persons family;

    loss of or damage to property thatbelongs to or is in the custody or controlof the insured person or the insuredpersons employee or any member of theinsured persons family;

    the insured persons employment, trade,business or profession;

    the ownership or occupation of any landor buildings other than temporaryholiday accommodation; or

    the ownership, possession or use ofanimals, firearms, mechanicallypropelled vehicles, vessels or aircraft ofany description;

    x any claim or loss arising out of any activity orbusiness conducted or transacted via theinternet, intranet, extranet or via the insuredpersons own website, internet site, webaddress or via the transmission of electronicmail or documents or electronic means;

    x any liability which is created by an agreementbut which would not have existed in theabsence of such agreement;

    x judgments which are not in the first instancedelivered by or obtained from a court ofcompetent jurisdiction within Singapore, ororders obtained in such a court for theenforcement of judgments made outsideSingapore, whether or not by any reciprocalagreement to which Singapore is a partyunless such judgments and/or orders are firstaccepted by us in writing;

    x any claim, loss, injury or damage arisingdirectly or indirectly from, or in any wayinvolving asbestos, or the use, presence,detection, elimination or avoidance ofasbestos or its potential exposure;

    x the cost of removing or cleaning up seeping,polluting or contaminating substances; or

    x fines, penalties, punitive, exemplary oraggravated damages.

    optional benefit cover

    pet hotel

    The benefit under this cover applies only if youhave paid the required additional premium andthe pet hotel benefit has been specifically statedon your certificate of insurance as beingapplicable. This benefit is subject to the terms andconditions of your policy.

    If you place your cat or dog in a kennel/cattery orpet hotel for the duration of your trip and you aredelayed and unable to collect that pet on the dayagreed with the kennel/cattery or pet hotel due tothe delay of your final inbound public transport toSingapore or if you were hospitalised and/orquarantined outside Singapore as directed by adoctor during your trip, we will pay $50 for every

    full 6 consecutive hours of delay, up to the limitdetailed on your certificate of insurance.

    This benefit is limited to one pet only.

    For us to pay your claim, you must provide us withwritten confirmation from:

    o the carrier stating the reason for the delayand your scheduled date and time ofdeparture and actual date and time ofdeparture of the carrier; or

    o a doctor confirming your injury or sickness;and

    o the kennel/cattery or pet hotel stating theoriginal and actual pet collection dates.

    We will not pay for a claim under this pet hotelcover if the reason for the delay was made knownor was informed publicly prior to the purchase ofthis policy.

    our total liability

    x radioactive toxic explosive or other hazardousproperties of any explosive nuclear assembly,or of its nuclear component;

    x regardless of any contributory cause, any actof terrorism involving the use or release orthreat of any nuclear weapon or device orchemical or biological agent, regardless ofany other cause or event contributingconcurrently or in any other sequence to theaccident or loss;

    x any action taken in controlling, preventing,

    suppressing or in any way relating to an actof terrorism;

    x any illegal activities or any loss resultingdirectly or indirectly from action taken by agovernment authority including confiscation,seizure, destruction and restriction;

    x confiscation, nationalisation, requisition ordestruction of or damage to property underthe order of any government of public or localauthority;

    x the insured person not making all reasonableefforts to safeguard his property or to avoidinjury or minimise any claim under yourpolicy;

    x damage to any computer or other equipmentor component or system or item whichprocesses, stores, transmits, or retrieves dataor any part thereof, including loss orcorruption of data whether tangible orintangible (including but without limitationany information or programs or software) andwhether the property of the insured person ornot, where such damage is caused byprogramming or operator error, virus orsimilar mechanism or hacking;

    x consequential loss directly or indirectlycaused by or arising from programming oroperator error, virus or similar mechanism or

    hacking; and/orx any consequential loss or damage arising

    from or in connection with an insured event.

    We shall also not be deemed to provide cover orbe liable to pay any claim or provide any benefitunder this policy to the extent that the provisionof such cover, payment of such claim or provisionof such benefit would expose us to any sanction,prohibition or restriction under United Nations

    resolutions or the trade or economic sanctions,laws or regulations of the European Union, UnitedKingdom or United States of America.

    For the purposes of these exclusions, an act ofterrorism means an act including but not limitedto the use of force or violence and/or the threatthereof, of any person or group(s) of persons,whether acting alone or on behalf of or inconnection with any organisation(s) orgovernment(s), committed for political, religious,ideological or ethnic purposes or reasons includingthe intention to influence any government and/orto put the public, or any section of the public, infear.

    If we deny a claim by reason of any of theexclusions described in this section 4, the burdenof proving that the claim is covered is upon you.

    Please note that we will not be liable forany claim made under yourDirectAsia.com travel insurance policyif we are not notified as soon as possibleof the event and your claim is notsubmitted within 30 days of thehappening of the event that gives riseto such claim.

    If you give us information about another person,in doing so you confirm that other person hasgiven you permission to provide the informationto us to be able to process that information andalso that you have told that other person who weare and that we will use that information.

    When an event under personal liability cover givesrise to a claim or series of claims, once we havepaid you and/or the insured person the fullamount of our liability or any smaller amountwhich can settle the claim, we are not obliged tocontinue to conduct the defence or settlement ofa claim against you and/or the insured person byanother person.

    If we decide not to continue with the conduct ofthe defence or settlement of claim made againstyou and/or an insured person, we will not beresponsible for any costs or expenses incurred byyou or by any other person as a result of ourdecision.

    what you have to do

    If you are making a claim, you must write toinform us of that claim as soon as possible and inany event within 30 days of the event.

    If an event occurs that might lead to a claim beingmade under your DirectAsia.com travel insurancepolicy, you have to do all of the following:

    o do everything you can reasonably do toprevent and minimise any accident, injury or

    sickness;o do everything you can to prevent and limit the

    loss, damage or injury and to prevent furtherloss, damage or injury; and

    o report the event to us as soon as possibleafter its occurrence.

    your responsibilities when youmake a claim

    If you or any insured person or any of yourpersonal representative(s) is claiming under yourpolicy, the following must be complied with:

    o you or they must contact us, with full detailsof any accident, injury, sickness, death orevent that may give rise to a claim under yourpolicy as soon as possible but in any casewithin 30 days of the happening of such aninjury, sickness, death or other insuredevent; and

    o you or they must provide us with anyinformation, evidence or supportingdocuments and help that we may need,including the following:

    producing, at your or their expense,receipts, medical certificates and medicalreports in the form prescribed by us;

    the insured persons medical history andrecords and/or the insured persons orhis legal personal representativeswritten consent to allow us to receive theresults of any medical examinations andtests, medical history and records;

    letter of authority, power of attorney,grant of probate or letters of

    administration, statutory declarations etcrequired by us;

    if requested by us, to undergo a medicalexamination at our expense; and/or

    if the claim relates to the death of aninsured person and if requested by usand not forbidden by law, a post-mortemexamination to be done at our expense.

    who we can pay

    If a claim is made under your policy, we may settlethe claim with the insured person or his legalpersonal representative. The insured persons orhis legal personal representatives receipt of thepayment shall absolve us of all further liability.

    If upon your instruction, benefits are to be paid toany other person and noted in an amendment toyour policy, we shall be permitted to pay thebenefits to such person. Any such paymentabsolves us of all further liability to you and/or toany other person.

    if there is other insurance - general

    An insured person may only be covered under oneDirectAsia.com travel insurance policy.

    If an insured person is covered under more thanone DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy (whichwe will call an additional DirectAsia.com travelpolicy), we will treat that insured person as being

    covered under the policy with the highest benefitlevel only and that insured person will not becovered under the other additional DirectAsia.comtravel policy or additional DirectAsia.com travelpolicies.

    Where the benefits of the additional policy orpolicies are identical to each other, we willconsider the insured person as only being insuredunder the policy that was first issued by us. Theinsured person will not be covered under theadditional DirectAsia.com travel policy or policies.

    Where the benefits of an additional DirectAsia.comtravel policy or policies differ by virtue of thedifferent optional covers that you have selectedfor the insured person, we will allow you to choosewhich policy you wish to continue coverage under,and the insured person will not be covered underany other additional DirectAsia.com travel policieswith us.

    We will refund, without interest, any duplicatedpremiums.

    if there is other insurance -personal liability

    An insured person may only be covered forpersonal liability under one DirectAsia.cominsurance policy.

    If an insured person is covered for personalliability under more than one DirectAsia.cominsurance policy (which we will call an additionalDirectAsia.com policy), we will treat that insuredperson as being covered for personal liabilityunder the policy with the highest benefit level onlyand that insured person will not be covered forpersonal liability under the other additionalDirectAsia.com policy or additional DirectAsia.compolicies.

    Where the personal liability benefits of the

    additional policy or policies are identical to eachother, we will consider the insured person as onlybeing insured under the policy that was firstissued by us. The insured person will not becovered under the additional DirectAsia.compolicy or policies.

    Where the personal liability benefits of anadditional DirectAsia.com policy or policies differby virtue of the different optional covers that youhave selected for the insured person, we will allowyou to choose which policy you wish to continuecoverage under, and the insured person will notbe covered under any other additionalDirectAsia.com policies with us.

    We will refund, without interest, any duplicatedpremiums.

    instalment payments

    When the damage or loss is such that we decideto pay the amount covered and you are payingyour premium in instalment we are entitled todeduct the total unpaid balance of your annualpremium from the payment we make.

    benefits from other sources

    This condition applies to the payment of benefit ona reimbursement or indemnity basis.

    If, at the time of a claim by you or by an insuredperson, you or that insured person has otherinsurance against the events covered or is entitledto a reimbursement of all or part of the claimedexpenses from any other source, we will only beliable to pay for the difference between theamount recoverable from such other source andthe amount that would otherwise have beenrecoverable under your policy.

    6 > what you need to do

    taking precautions You and all insured persons must at all times takereasonable precautions to prevent accidents orother similar events.

    You must take all reasonable care to safeguardyour personal possessions while travelling.

    If you leave your personal possessionsunsupervised in a public place we will not pay yourclaim.

    At the time of your trip, you and each insuredperson must be medically fit to travel and not beaware of any circumstances which could lead tocancellation or disruption of the trip, otherwise

    any claim is not payable.your duty to tell us

    You must fully and truthfully disclose to us thefacts as you know or ought to know, otherwise youmay receive no benefit from your policy.

    When you answer our questions, it is importantthat you answer fully and truthfully as you areobliged under the law to tell us anything you knowor should know that is necessary for us in makingour decision to insure you or anyone else underyour DirectAsia.com travel insurance policy andthe terms on which we will insure you.

    This includes answers to questions we ask when

    you apply for a policy, renew, or alter your policy,and any other matters which might affect whetherwe insure you and on what terms.We use the information you give us to decidewhether to insure you, or anyone else, so it isimportant you understand this when you areanswering our questions for yourself and foranyone else who you want us to cover.

    If you do not answer our questions fully andtruthfully and do not disclose all relevantinformation to us, then your claim could bereduced or refused (either totally or in part). Wemay even cancel your policy and treat your policyas never having existed.

    You must inform us immediately of any changesin the information you have given us previously.If you do not, you may not receive any benefitsunder your policy on any claim and/or we maycancel your policy. In addition, we may also seekto recover any costs we have incurred.

    misstatement of age

    If at any time we discover that any insured personhas misstated their age with the result that they

    would not meet our age eligibility requirementsand as a consequence would not have beeneligible for cover under your policy, then yourpolicy will be automatically void and no benefitshall be payable. Our liability shall be limited to arefund of the premium paid without interest.

    misstatement of health

    If at any time we discover that any insured personhas not fully disclosed, has misrepresented to usor has concealed any circumstances or issuesmaterially relevant to his health including whetherthat insured person is suffering from a disease,disability, sickness or handicap, then this policy isvoidable at our sole option.

    payment of your premium

    Your insurance premium will be shown on yourcertificate of insurance and you must pay yourpremium directly to us by the due date specifiedin the relevant confirmation sent by us to you.

    Where you are paying your premium in full, thenif the total premium is not paid and received in fullby us on or before the start date, the policy will bedeemed to be immediately and automaticallycancelled and no benefits will be payable by us.

    Any premium payment received after the startdate shall have no effect on the cancellation ofyour policy.

    Where you are permitted to pay your premium byinstalment payments, then if the requiredinstalment payments are not paid and received infull by us on or before the specified due date, thepolicy may be cancelled and no benefits will bepayable by us.

    Any premium payment received after the specifieddue date shall have no effect on the cancellationof your policy.

    All payments for any insurance products,renewals, or other services purchased via ourwebsite must be paid in full by the due datespecified in the relevant confirmation.

    Unless otherwise provided for, all payments arerequired to be made by you using a type of creditcard accepted by us at the time of purchase orrenewal of the applicable insurance policy. Youmust therefore provide to us through our website,details of your current and valid credit card,including:

    o credit card type;

    o name on credit card;

    o credit card number; and

    o expiry date.

    You should not send us sensitive financial

    information like your credit card number by email.Unless you ask us to change your payment details,we will debit the credit card we have on file tocollect any money due on your policy.

    reimbursements

    You must pay or reimburse us any amount forwhich we would not otherwise be liable under yourpolicy.

    You must also inform us if you recover any lost orstolen item after making a claim on your policy.In this event, we may require you to immediatelydeliver and transfer the recovered item to us.

    7 > keeping yourDirectAsia.com travelinsurance up to dateIf there is a material change in your circumstancesthen you must tell us immediately. We maycalculate any difference in premium from the dateyour circumstances changed even if this happenedin a previous period of insurance.

    If you do not tell us about changes in yourcircumstances, then this could result in anadditional premium being payable by you, affect

    the amount you are able to claim or may evenmean that you are unable to make a claim.

    If your changed circumstances differ materiallyfrom what you have previously told us, then afailure to tell us of these changes could also resultin your policy being declared void and as havingnever existed.

    making changes to your policy byyou

    You may contact us to request a change to bemade to your policy. We do not have to accept anychanges but if we do accept a change, we willconfirm it in writing to you or amend it on yourcertificate of insurance.

    If the accepted change reduces your premium, wewill refund the difference owing to you, providedthat such difference exceeds $10.

    If the accepted change increases your premium,you will need to pay us the additional premium,provided that such additional premium exceeds$10.

    The changes you request will only take place whenwe have confirmed them in writing to you and youpay any additional premium that may be required.

    You can contact us to make changes to your policyonline, by email or phone.

    making changes to your policy byus

    We may change the terms and conditions of yourpolicy, including the premium payable. We willgive you at least 30 days notice before suchchange is effected.

    We may also change any terms and provisions ofyour policy at the end of your policy such that thechange will be applicable from the next period ofinsurance. Your continued payment of thepremium after we give you notice of any changeto your policy will mean that you accept suchchange.

    cancelling your policy

    single trip

    If you purchase a single trip DirectAsia.com travelinsurance policy, both you and we may at any timeprior to commencement of the period of insurancecancel your policy by giving notice of cancellationto the other party. In the event that you cancelyour policy, we will be entitled to charge acancellation fee of $10 to cover the cost of setting

    up the policy but you will not be entitled to anyrefund of premium if:

    o the period of insurance has commenced;

    o the refund amount is less than $10; or

    o any claim is made under your policy.

    annual plan

    If you purchase an annual plan DirectAsia.comtravel insurance policy, both you and we maycancel that policy at any time by giving 7 daysnotice.

    The effective date of cancellation will be based onthe date the other party is informed in writing of

    the cancellation.If you cancel your annual plan DirectAsia.comtravel insurance policy you must pay to us all ofthe outstanding or due premium if:

    o you have reported or notified us of a claim;

    o we have paid a claim; and/or

    o you owe us any money

    Delayed payments will be subject to interest andadded charges.

    We will not refund any premium and if you arepaying in instalments, you must pay us thebalance premium if on or before cancellation ofyour policy any one or more of the following hasoccurred:

    o you have reported or notified us of a claim;

    o we have paid a claim; and/or

    o you owe us any money.

    You will not be entitled to any refund of premiumif the refund amount is less than $10.

    If your policy is cancelled and:

    o you have not reported or notified us of a

    claim;o we have not paid a claim; and

    o you do not owe us any money,

    then we will return any proportionate part of thepremium for the unexpired period of insurancesubject to deduction of a cancellation fee of $10.We will work out any refund of premium asfollows:

    immediate terminationUnless we agree otherwise in writing, cover underthis policy for any particular insured person shallimmediately terminate on the earliest happeningof the following events:

    o on the expiry of the period of insurance;

    o failure to pay the lump sum premium or anyinstalment payment on full by the due date;

    o on the occurrence of an event or events forwhich the maximum sum insured is payableor has been paid;

    o on the death of such insured person; or

    o upon such insured person ceasing to satisfyany of the eligibility requirements set out inyour policy.

    post cancellation and termination

    The terms, conditions and provisions of yourpolicy which are capable of having effect after thecancellation or termination of your policy shall

    interest of other persons

    You are not allowed to transfer or assign yourinterest in this DirectAsia.com travel insurancepolicy to any other person without first obtainingour written approval.

    We shall not be affected by notice of any trust,charge, lien, assignment or other dealing withyour policy.

    8 > customer care We are committed to providing you with quality

    insurance products and services but if any disputearises out of your DirectAsia.com travel insurancepolicy that we cannot resolve between us, thenthat dispute may be submitted to the SingaporeMediation Centre for settlement by mediation inaccordance with the mediation procedure in force.

    You and we agree to take part in the mediation ingood faith and undertake to honour the terms ofany settlement reached.

    If any dispute is not referred to mediation or ifmediation fails, the dispute can be referred toarbitration by a single arbitrator to be appointedby each of us in writing.

    If we and you cannot agree on an arbitrator within

    one calendar month of a request for arbitration byeither party, the arbitrator shall be appointed bythe Singapore International Arbitration Centre(SIAC) and the arbitration will be conducted inaccordance with the arbitration rules of the SIAC.

    You should not start legal proceedings against usunless 60 days have elapsed after proof of loss hasbeen provided to us in writing in accordance withthe requirements of your policy.

    Our liability under your policy is limited solely tothe payment of the amounts you are entitled toreceive. We assume no liability for the availability,quality or results of any medical treatment orother service or for your failure to obtain anytreatment or service covered by the terms of yourpolicy.

    On our website, you can make certain transactionsonline. This may be purchasing your policy,administering your policy, making a renewalpayment or other transactions. These

    transactions will not be final until we receive andprocess your confirmation.

    Your confirmation means any communicationissued or transmitted by you to us via our websiteor other electronic means (including your offer topurchase or your confirmation of payment).

    It is your responsibility to inform us of any changeto your email address. It is also your responsibilityto keep your email account active and capable ofreceiving new emails.     We will not be bound by any judgments which arenot in the first instance delivered by or obtainedfrom a court of competent jurisdiction withinSingapore.

    certificate ofinsurance

    child means your biological, step orlegally adopted child who isunmarried, unemployed andwhose age is between 15 daysand less than 18 years of age.If unmarried and in full-timetertiary education, the childmay be aged up to 24 years.

    chinese medicalpractitioner

    means a person qualified as atraditional chinese medicinepractitioner (other than you,an insured person, your or aninsured persons relative,business partner, employer,employee or agent) whoengages in the practice oftraditional chinese medicine

    dentist means a person (other thanyou, an insured person, your oran insured persons relative,business partner, employer,employee or agent) who isqualified as a dentalpractitioner with a degree indentistry and duly licensedand/or registered with therelevant statutory dental boardor council to provide dentaltreatment and who, inrendering dental treatment, ispractising within the scope ofboth his licensing and trainingin the geographical area ofpractice.

    means Direct Asia Insurance(Singapore) Pte. Ltd.

    disability ordisablement

    means injury or itscomplications arising from thesame cause.

    disruption ordisrupted

    means having to abandon orcurtail the trip, or having itlengthened, and returning toSingapore on a date other thanthe planned date of return.

    doctor means a person (other thanyou, an insured person, your or

    an insured persons relative,business partner, employer,employee or agent) who isqualified with a medical degreeto practise western medicineand is licensed by or registeredwith the competent andrelevant country medicalauthorities to provide medicaland/or surgical treatment andwho, in rendering treatment, ispractising within the scope ofhis licensing and training in thegeographical area of practice.

    excludedcountries

    means Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq,Sudan, Syria, DemocraticRepublic of Congo andSomalia.

    extreme orhazardous area

    means a place or locationwhere we in our sole opinionwould expect you to use alicensed and qualified guide.

    extreme sportsor activities

    means an extreme sport, anaction sport and/or anadventure sport which in oursole opinion has a high level ofinherent danger and whichinvolves the use of one or moreof the following elements:speed, height, a high level ofphysical exertion and/or the

    use of highly specialisedequipment.

    hospital means an institution which islegally licensed as a medical orsurgical hospital in thegeographical area in which it islocated. It must be establishedfor the care and treatment ofsick and injured persons asbed-paying patients, andwhich:

    - is under the constantsupervision of a doctor;

    - provides facilities fordiagnosis, treatment andsurgery;

    - provides 24-hour dailynursing services byregistered graduatenurses; and

    - is not primarily a clinic,mental hospital or
