Insensitivity to light combined with veryshort curing time

Tetric EvoCeram gives you both: the ability tocontour the material for an extended lengthof time and fast curing time. A special additive has been incorporated intothe photo-initiator system causing the mate-rial to be less reactive to ambient light (e.g.operatory light), while being highly reactiveto curing lights (e.g. light in the wavelengthrange of 400 to 500 nm). Ivoclar Vivadenthas cleverly succeeded in overcoming a problem that seemed technically unsolvableinitially.

Coordinated light refraction indices offiller particles, monomer matrix andnano-colour pigments

Translucency

In order to ensure that the composite shadesblend well with the colour of natural denti-tion, particular emphasis is placed on creat-ing a high initial translucency during the pro-duction process, so that eventually compositematerials with three different, lifelike levelsof translucency (T, Enamel, Dentin) are produced.

Filler size

The nano-sized fillers in Tetric EvoCeram (< 550 nm) are smaller than visible light. As a result, light is able to pass through the composite similar to enamel furtherenhancing the true-to-nature characteristicsof Tetric EvoCeram.

Refractive index

The fillers in Tetric EvoCeram (hybrid micro-fillers 700 nm / 400 nm, prepolymers, ytter-bium fluoride, spherical mixed oxide), thenano-colour pigments and the monomerdemonstrate the same light refractionindices. The careful matching of light refraction indices is pivotal to achieving theharmonious integration of the restorationinto the natural dentition.

The excellent radiopacity of a composite enables dentists to easilydistinguish it from the dental hard tissue and the changes affectingthe natural tooth structure (e.g. secondary decay). Tetric EvoCeram offers ideally coordinatedcomposite technology supplied in state-of-the-art, ergonomic syringes. The new syringes andthe Cavifils are colour-coded according to thetried-and-tested colour coding system basedon A–D shades. New special markings on theproducts make it easy for operators to distin-guish between Dentin and Enamel shades.This ensures that the right syringe is pickedevery time, even if it needs to be selected froma wide variety of shades.
