New York Stucco Direct Applied Finishing System — Technical Data (REV B. 040313) — Page 1 Direct Applied Finishing System Description: NEW YORK STUCCO Direct Applied Finishing System (DAFS) is utilized over masonry substrates wherever a highly durable, textured, and uninsulated wall system is required. The DAFS design eliminates the use of EPS or XPS insulation board, and is often used for soffits and areas that do not need an EIFS system. The base coat, mesh and finish are applied directly to the substrate. Advantages: • Lightweight Fade resistant Substantial savings on reduced structural requirements Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be thor- oughly cured, dry and clean before the NEW YORK STUCCO Direct Applied Finishing System is employed. Moisture content of these surfaces shall not exceed 16% except for white coat plaster which may not ex- ceed 6% of moisture. A minimum air and wall surface temperature of 50°F must be maintained during, and for 48 hours following, installation. Masonry Block: Block shall be laid perfectly plumb and true, free of excess mortar and with all joints neatly tooled to a concave joint. All defects, i.e. chipped edges, large voids, etc., shall be carefully pointed and filled with mortar. All projecting mortar shall be ground and large holes shall be filled. Porous block shall be air pressure dusted to remove loose particles. All mortar joints shall be thoroughly cured. Poured or Precast Concrete: No curing com- pounds or form release agents which may affect proper coating adhesion shall be used. Immediately after forms have been stripped, all fins and other projections shall be removed. Voids and other dam- aged areas shall be filled with block fill. Tie rods or other projecting metal must be cut back at least one inch and coated with a cement mortar mixture. All surfaces shall be rubbed with a carborundum brick to produce a smooth, even finish. Do not use a ce- ment wash. NEW YORK STUCCO Direct Applied Finishing Systems do not use EPS or XPS insulation foam in the design configuration. Weather barrier, base coat, mesh and finish are applied directly to the substrate. This application is widely used for soffits and areas that do not require an EIFS system. Direct Applied Finishing System

Description:

NEW YORK STUCCO Direct Applied Finishing System(DAFS) is utilized over masonry substrates wherever ahighly durable, textured, and uninsulated wall system isrequired. Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be thor-oughly cured, dry and clean before the NEW YORKSTUCCO Direct Applied Finishing System is employed.Moisture content of these surfaces shall not exceed16% except for white coat plaster which may not ex-ceed 6% of moisture. NOTE: New York Stucco Additive and Bonding Agentaids in bonding new base coat to existing masonryor concrete substrate. If a potential adhesion prob-lem exists due to old, worn, flakey or contaminatedsurfaces, coat the substrate with New York StuccoAdditive and Bonding Agent before applying NewYork Stucco Base Coat.

Plaster: Surface shall be finished with a Portland ce-ment, steel troweled finish. Vermiculite, Perlite orKeene Cement plaster is not acceptable.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Consult a NEW YORKSTUCCO representative for proper recommendations.

Application: Using a short-nap roller, apply an evencoat of New York Stucco Additive and Bonding Agentover the entire surface. Immediately after the New YorkStucco Additive and Bonding Agent is dry, coat the sur-face with NEW YORK STUCCO Base Coat approxi-mately 1/16” to ¼” thick with a stainless steel trowel.Embed NEW YORK STUCCO Fiberglass Mesh into basecoat. After the NEW YORK STUCCO Base Coat is fullycured apply the NEW YORK STUCCO Finish. Review in-dividual product data sheets and package informationfor full instructions on application and use.

Colors: 48 standard colors from NEW YORK STUCCOFinish color chart.
