Information about Welingkar Institute

● Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali is one of the oldest educational societyin the state of Maharashtra. It manages 41 educational institutions inMaharashtra.

● Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali manages Sir Parshurambhau College,(popularly known as S. P. College) & Tilak College of Education in Pune.It also manages Nutan Marathi Vidhyalay (popularly known as NMV),Ruia Mook Badhir Vidhyalay & Naralkar Institute of Management inPune. In Solapur, it manages Haribhai Devkaran Prashala, (popularlyknown as H D High School).

● In Mumbai, Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali started the R. A. Podar Collegeof Commerce & Economics, in 1941. This college has earned a reputationas one of the best commerce colleges in this part of the country. RamnarainRuia College of S. P. Mandali has also earned a reputation as one of thebest Arts & Science College in Mumbai.

Admission Procedure forDiploma Courses

Recognized by the Distance Education Council (Govt. of India)

Distance Learning Program (DLP) Type I -Monday to Friday (Evening Batch)

Distance Learning Program (DLP) Type II - Sunday Batch

Distance Learning Program (DLP) Type III - By Schedule

✫ The prospectus & admission forms are available at the Institute on

payment of Rs.100/-, and by post Rs. 150/- through DD in the name of

‘Welingkar Institute of Management’, payable at Mumbai.

✫ The form can be downloaded from our website www.welingkar.org in

which case Rs. 150/- will be added to the course fee.

✫ Admissions will be restricted to a selected number of students for each

program.

✫ Fees are payable in full at the time of admission.

✫ Fees once paid shall not be refunded for any reason under anycircumstances.

✫ Attested photo copy of the marksheet (Graduation / Diploma) and recent

pass port size photograph along with the form should be submitted to the

office.

✫ After verifying the application form in the office, students should register

the form through our online registration system (guided by the office staff).

The student can pay the fee either in cash or by cheque or by a DD in the

name of ‘Welingkar Institute of Management’ at the ICICI Bank which

is located in Welingkar Bldg. Gr. Floor, after collecting the challan from

the office.

✫ After the fee is deposited into the ICICI Bank, collect your IdentityCard & study material from the office.

✫ DIRECT ADMISSION: Send a DD of Rs. 150/- along with the course fee

in favour of ‘Welingkar Institute of Management’, payable at Mumbai.

Eligibility

1 Year Diploma

The following candidates are eligible to pursue the 1 Year Diploma programs:

A. Graduate in any faculty (Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy,Medicine, Architecture, Computer Science, and Business Administration.Students who have appeared for the Final year may also apply. Admissionwill be confirmed only on submission of the attested Xerox copies of theirdegree certificates/final year mark sheets and subject to the studentsuccessfully completing the Degree prior to commencement of the program.

B. Diploma holders in Engineering, Technology, Chemical, Pharmacy, Textile,Printing Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration and otherVocational Diploma courses.

C. Passed Class XII and having two year full-time work experience post classXII may apply. Candidates will need to produce work experience certificate.

Six Months Diploma

The following candidates are eligible to pursue the Six month Diploma programs.

A. Graduate in any faculty (Arts, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy,Medicine, Architecture, Computer Science, and Business Administration.Students who have appeared for the Final year may also apply. The Institute conducts classes from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm Monday toFriday (Evening Batch) for students who enrol for the Diploma courses.Highly qualified faculty with industry experience are invited as visitingprofessors to teach various subjects. They help students develop managerialaptitude. The case studies and practical examples supplement thetheoretical knowledge of students in various subjects in the managementfield. Students who complete the diploma courses in Welingkar Instituteget an opportunity to develop a personality necessary for playing ameaningful role in the management cadre. That is why, there is a gooddemand from the industry for students who have completed their diplomacourses from Welingkar Institute.

We also offer Only Sunday (Type II) Batch. The class timings are 9.00am to 6.00 pm (in addition to this, classes will be held on Saturday / Bankholidays to complete the portion). This facility is available for all diplomacourses.

cannot attend lectures regularly and students in all other cities and towns

can complete diploma courses at Welingkar Institute by Distance Learning

✫ The examination is carried out on a flexible & convenient online system,based on semester pattern (for one year Diploma) at Aptech Centres. Itis held in the month of December & May / June every year. The durationof each exam is 1 hour.

✫ Online exams will be given in English only.

✫ The student who secures 50% marks is declared to be successful in thatsubject. The results are declared within 30 days from the last date of theexamination period.

✫ The study material is in English.

✫ The exam time-table will be put up on the notice board as well as on thewebsite of the institute a month prior to the exam and students arerequested to take note of it. (For Evening Batch / Sunday Batch students& Distance Learning by Schedule)

✫ The detailed schedule of the examination and PCP lectures will beconveyed to the students well in advance (for Distance Learning / Onlinestudents). The same will be uploaded on the website.

✫ The student who does not appear for the examination or who gets lessthan 50 marks in a particular subject, can re-appear for the examinationin the next semester by filling the re-examination form along with thefee of Rs.100/- per subject, a month prior to the examination.

✫ If a student is not able to appear or has failed in the examination of aparticular course within three years, he should re-register his name bypaying Rs. 250/- as re-registration fees along with re-exam fees of Rs.100/- per subject.

✫ Those students who are declared successful in all the papers of a particulardiploma course will be awarded Diploma from Welingkar Institute ofManagement during the convocation held in the month of April everyyear.

✤ From January 2006, examination for the Diplomas of Evening / SundayBatch / Distance Learning / online exam. The checking process isautomatic hence re-evaluation of the papers will not be entertained.

Guidelines for giving exams through Aptech Centres

DLP Type I, II , III

(for Evening Batch / Sunday Batch / DistanceLearning By Schedule)

To give more flexibility and to make the entire exam process more convenientfor our students, we have tied up with Aptech Ltd. for Online exams.

The following are the major features:

1) You can give the exam from any of the Registered Centres of Aptech.( List of Registered Centres are given herewith for your reference.)

2) Aptech Centres are open 7 days a week from morning 9.00 am to evening7.30 pm. There are 8 time slots available each days. You can give theexams in any sequence as per your choice on any day during any of the8 time slots available between morning 9.00 am to evening 7.30 pm.

3) While giving the exams you can go back to any question and review /change your answers any number of times. There will be a facility bywhich you can know which questions have been skipped or which questionyou want to review later on.

4) Prior to giving the exams, you have to book in advance the date, thesubject, the time slot and the Aptech Centre from our websitewww.welingkaronline.org, during the stipulated period.

5) You have to print out the Hall Ticket for each subject. For e.g. if youwish to appear for 5 papers, you have to print out 5 hall tickets.

6) Student must report 15 minutes before the commencement of the examsat the selected Aptech Exam Centre on the date chosen by you. You haveto show the hall ticket printed by you at the Centre along with anotheridentity proof like - Welingkar ID Card / Driving Licence / PAN card /Valid Passport.

6) Dates for Online Booking of exams will be indicated seperately.

7) Guidelines for booking test slots will be available on our above mentionedwebsite at an appropriate time prior to the exams.

Other Information

✫ Please bring your Id-Card & Fee Receipt issued by Welingkar Institute

whenever you visit the Institute as well as at the time of examination.

✫ Library facility is made available to students on payment ofRs. 500/- as library deposit, which is refundable for January batch till

31st of March & for July batch till 15th of October and for Distance by

Schedule Learning students library fee is Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- as librarydeposit which is refundable).

✫ A student who has successfully completed one Diploma course fromWelingkar Institute can register himself for the second Diploma course.

The students are not required to appear for the examination of those

subjects in which they have already secured 50% or more marks in theexam of the first Diploma course. He has to appear for the exam of only

those subjects which are additional in the second Diploma course. Hehas to pay the entire fee for the second Diploma and it will be completed

within 6 months.

✫ A student who has lost his Identity Card / Fee Receipt can apply for aduplicate Id Card / Fee Receipt along with a fee of Rs. 100/-.

✫ Students who have successfully completed their Diploma can apply for a

provisional certificate on payment of Rs.100/-.

✫ Students who have successfully completed their Diploma will be awarded

a certificate by the Welingkar Institute of Management. Everystudent will get a marksheet showing the marks obtained by the

student in the subjects they appeared for.

✫ After successful completion of Welingkar one Diploma Course, a studentcan directly join another Diploma course. Graduate or any Diploma holder

with 3 years of work experence can directly join in the 2nd Semester ofPGDBA (DLP) course of Welingkar Institute. (Conditions Apply)

✤ The student will be graded on the basis of aggregate marks obtained as

under:-

The grade will be mentioned in the Diploma certificate which is awarded

to the students.

65% and above A+

60% to 64.99% A

55% to 59.99% B+

50% to 54.99% B

✤ CONVOCATION

✤ The Annual Convocation of the Institute for awarding Diplomas to the

successful candidates would be held every year in March/April only. The

same will be intimated to the student in February/March. Students can

attend the convocation and receive the Diploma from the hands of the

Chief Guest.

✤ Those students who are unable to attend the convocation can collect their

Diploma a week after the convocation or 15 days after the convocation it

will be despatched to the student’s address.

Monday to Friday 11.00 am to 6.30 pm

Saturday - 11.00 am to 5.30 pm

DISCIPLINE

✫ Conduct of the students in their classes as well as in the premises of the

Institute shall be such as will cause no disturbance to fellow students or

other classes.

✫ Students must not loiter about or congregate in the Institute premises

while the classes are in progress.

✫ Student must take proper care of the institute’s property and help in

keeping the premises neat and clean. Any damage to the property of the

Institute will have to be paid for by the student concerned.

✫ In the name or premises of the Institute, no society, association,

organisation, etc shall be formed, no collection will be made, no tickets

will be sold, no function or social event will be arranged, no person will be

invited to address students, no notice will be printed and / or circulated

without the permission of the Associate Dean. No notice shall be put up

on the notice boards, no announcement will be made without the Associate

Dean’s written permission.

✫ Students should, in their own interest, read the notices daily including

change in class timings, examination time table etc, which are displayed

on the notice board from time to time.

✫ Students joining the Institute are required to abide by all the Rules and

Regulations, that may be issued by the Institute’s authorities from time

to time and to submit to the normal enforcement of the same to the

satisfaction of the Institute’s authorities whose decision in all mattters

shall be final and the same shall not be called in question on any ground

whatsoever.
