COURSE OUTLINE
This course at Charles Darwin University (CDU) gives students
the opportunity to experience higher education science and
achieve a diploma qualification in just one year. The course
provides a taste of university, and is ideal for anyone unsure
about whether further education is the right pathway for them.
It is very flexible and can be taken internally or completely
externally depending on the units chosen.
Students can also use this diploma for a full year’s credit
towards a bachelor degree at CDU. Study plans are available
leading to various Bachelor of Science streams or the Bachelor
of Environmental Science. Students may also use the Diploma
for entry into specialist degree streams offered at other
universities and a range of options are available on the CDU
Diploma of Science course website.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Diploma of Science consists of 80 credit points of common,
specialist elective and elective units depending on the
specialisation area selected.
Study plans include: general science, geographic information
science, environmental science and medical science. These can
articulate into the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of
Environmental Science or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory
Science at CDU.
Feeder arrangements are offered to courses at Flinders
University, James Cook University and the Australian National
University, with options including animal behaviour,
aquaculture, biotechnology, forensic and analytical chemistry,
nanotechnology, or marine science.
VET FEEDER INFO
Students who have completed a relevant Certificate IV can gain
up to 40 credit points towards this course.
