OverviewThe Diploma in Engineering, which hasintakes for international students inFebruary, June and October, is equivalentto the first year of the Bachelor ofEnginering. In this program, studentsstudy six first year faculty core units aswell as two units of Communication whichhave been designed to support their othercore units. Students who successfullycomplete these units earn full academiccredit for eight units towards their degree.Graduates articulate to the second year ofthe Bachelor of Engineering. Smalllectures and tutorials, additionalworkshops and the support of Languageand Welfare Advisers provide anexcellent learning environment.

English LanguageRequirementsQueensland Senior English (LowAchievement) or IELTS 5.5 with no sub-score less than 5.0 or TOEFL iBT Overallscore of 69 (at least 18 in writing andreading and 17 or more in listening andspeaking) or TOEFL 525 (paper) orTOEFL 193 (CBT) or equivalent, orsuccessful completion of the EAP
program. (N.B. Students should alsocheck visa requirements).

The University Diploma in InformationTechnology is equivalent to twosemesters of the Bachelor of InformationTechnology degree with a total of 96credit points (48 standard credit points fora full-time semester).
In the University Diploma program,students study six degree core units aswell as two English language units thathave been designed to support the othercore units.
Progression to the Bachelorof Information TechnologyStudents who successfully completethese eight units with a grade pointaverage of 4 (on a 7-point scale) andobtain a grade of at least 4 inProfessional Communication 2 are giventwo semesters full-time advancedstanding towards their degree and areguaranteed a place in the Bachelor ofInformation Technology.
