The Pulp Word War II SettingThe following adventure is designed to be played with just the Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition rulebook. This adventure is also fully compatible with the Weird War II Savage Worlds Setting, which is also excellent resource for WWII gaming, filled with new character options and equipment and very much recommended. Go buy it. The default setting for this adventure is the World War II of John Wayne and Audie Murphy films, mixed with a bit of the comic book tales of Sgt. Rock and J.A.K.E. the G.I. Robot and a dash of the Pulp genre of Doc Savage and The Phantom thrown in for good measure. In other words, this is not what really happened, but is the mythical World War II chock full of adventure and excitement, with the true horrors of war and the human condition pushed into the background for the sake of entertainment; muted but not forgotten. We celebrate the Greatest Generation and the sacrifices that they made to make the world a better place for us: their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beyond. We honor them by emulating them as imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If you know a World War II Veteran, perhaps a family member or someone who lives on your street, stop and thank them for their service. They have earned it.Now, on to the adventure.Setting TrappingsPulp action heroes are tough, skilled, and seemingly born for rugged adventure. To recreate this feeling in the game, there are a couple of adjustments to the base rules in this adventure. These are totally optional. If you don't like them, you don't have to use them.First, start your character as Seasoned. They are G.I.'s who have seen combat and lived to tell the tale. They are a cut above the average soldier thrown into the theatre of war.Secondly, drop Rank requirements for edges, but retain all other requirements. This will allow your G.I.s to gain more powerful edges more quickly, giving him the Pulp advantage that he, as a Pulp Hero, should have. This dropping of Rank requirement applies to both edges gained at character creation and edges gained through advancement. Finally, before each combat, give each PC one free bennie, but not to exceed his maximum amount of bennies.Thats it. Now youre ready to build a character, or choose a pregenerated character from the Appendix, and head off to the war.The South PacificJune, 1943The PCs are aboard the USN cargo ship Mohican. After heavy combat, they are being sent back for rest and retraining before the next big push. They are assigned to the Mohican for the trip.A large uncharted island discovered.
