We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our VIP members, “ adds Smiley. This past year, Barmuda awarded nearly $60,000 back to our members, simply for using their re- wards card. New YearFerrari’s Ristorante is shifting into high gear in the new year. The menu received a facelift, and there are new items to choose from, along with all of the old favorites. Ferrari’s has had so much suc-cess with their $8 daily lunch special that they are adding a $16 Friday night dinner special.

“It’s exciting for us, things have been going well, and this takes it to a new level,” says Joel Smits, Ferrari’s General Manager. “Our chefs are talent-ed, and this is an opportunity to showcase their abilities. They have put together some outstand-ing dishes.”

Some of the new menu items that are being in-troduced are the veal loin chop and bone-in rib-eye or bleu cheese pasta with flat iron steak. The menu pages also received a style update; they have been brightened up and are more alive. The menu is easy to read and really complements the atmosphere.

Ferrari’s is also going to add a new Friday night special that will be offered every week. The chefs will create a unique dish every Friday that will be priced at $16.

“Our $8 lunch special has had so much success because a guest can come into the restaurant and know the cost of the lunch special,” explains Smits. “We want the same presence with our Fri-day night dinner special. Any Friday night you can enjoy a delicious dinner at Ferrari’s for $16 and our guests love that.”

Many com-panies have made use of Park Place Event Centre’s versatile meeting space, multimedia technology, beautiful surroundings, local hotel accommodations and award-winning menus to keep their business on the road to strong sales and successful outcomes.

To continue their journey together, Park Place introduced their loyalty program incentive last summer and has saved companies the stress and time of meeting and event planning but most importantly, it has saved them money. Bourbon Street Restaurant and Roux [Roo] Orleans Bourbon Street Grille rolled out their bi-annually featured French Quarter Feast menu on January 1st, 2010.

“Our objective is to celebrate New Orlean’s-style flavors mixed with some of our own and serve a large portion while doing it,” explains Bourbon Street Manager, Paige King. “The best part about it is that the price is very affordable.”

The French Quarter Feast is a menu that combines dishes to highlight the unique and bold flavors from the Cajun, Creole and American-fashioned menus. The feast menu consists of four different dinner options featuring items from their menu that are combined and themed according to similar flavors.

The four feasts include the Ragin’ Cajun BBQ Feast highlighting the award winning BBQ ribs accom-panied by BBQ shrimp. The Streetcar Seafood Trio matches shrimp panko, crawfish étouffée, and Cajun Kamikaze Tuna. Mix a blackened chicken breast, jambalaya and gator bites for the Louisi-ana Sampler. And the Surf and Turf de Bourbon features the Sirloin de Bourbon, Ponchartrain crab cakes and shrimp fettuccini. All feasts are served with a choice of Caesar or house salad and corn-bread muffin with Cajun honey butter.

The French Quarter Feasts start at $16.99 and are available for dinner from 4 p.m. to close.

gRaSBarmuda, Cool 105.7, Humble Travel and United Beverage have partnered to give one lucky person a trip to Mardi Gras in New Orleans with a four-week promotion.

Anyone can register at Bourbon Street Restaurant, Voodoo Lounge, Roux [Roo] Orleans and Bourré [Boo-Ray] Lounge for a chance to win the trip to the “Big Easy.”

“We’re excited to be a part of such a fantastic giveaway,” says Scott Hirschman, Direct of Operations for the Cajun, Creole, and American brand. “New Orleans is where we get our influ-ence and we have the opportunity to give our customers a chance to experi-ence the real thing…it’s great!”

The giveaway has been coined the name, “The Miller Lite Mardi Gras Give-away” and customers may sign up just by walking through the door. The odds of winning can be increased by order-ing something off of the Mardi Gras menu. Items included on the menu are traditional New Orleans dishes like Jambalaya and Chicken Creole, some Miller Lite products and the famous French Quarter cocktail, the Hurricane. Each time something is ordered from the Mardi Gras menu, the customer re-ceives another sign up form, increasing their chances.

Qualifiers will be drawn every Saturday at midnight at each venue or people can qualify by listening to Cool 105.7. The final drawing of the qualifiers will be held on January 23rd at Bourré Lounge. The second place winner will receive a Mardi Gras party for eight on Fat Tuesday with some complimentary food and drinks.

To register for the contest you must be at least 21 years old. No purchase necessary and need not be present to win. This offer is in the Cedar Valley market only. Does not include Grinnell.

nt Joker’s Comedy Night Club has scheduled a perfor-

mance by Brad Hargreaves of the band, Third Eye Blind, to perform on January 16th. Hargreaves will be performing a DJ-Drum set on the Joker’s stage.

The band hit it big in 1997 with their self titled al-bum and had a strong follow up album with Blue in 1999. Hargreaves has been the drummer for the band since their inception. “This is going to be a big show for us,” says Director of Nightclub Opera-tions, Scott Davis. “To have the caliber of talent like Brad Hargreaves performing something so unique that hasn’t been done around the Cedar Valley, it’s impossible not to get excited.”

Hargreaves’ DJ-Drum performance is a percussion filled mix of dance music and live drumming. This talented musician spins all of the music as he mixes from one song to the next while playing the drums.

The show begins at 10 p.m. with $2 Corona’s and Miller Chill from 10 p.m. to midnight. Doors open up at 7 p.m. with live comedy at 8:30 p.m. and the “JustBrad” show to begin soon after.

College students like to indulge in the extracurricular activities of going out and being integrated in the party atmosphere. Mojo’s consider themselves “the facilita-tor” of that experience and in do-ing so, added another service bar to the establishment.

“I think it’s the perfect addition, business has been great and this gives us a better opportunity to provide a better quality of custom-er service,” says Jorge Covarrubias. “It is a necessity for us more than anything.”

The new bar is located at the back of the establishment behind the dance floor. There is a drink rail separating the energetic dance floor area and the new bar.

Mojo’s popularity has come from the unique and outrageous events. Events from Jell-o® wrestling to ugly sweater parties have carved a place for Mojo’s in student lore.

Jorge adds, “We made a couple of changes to our set up, but make no mis-take about it, we are going to continue to do what we do best.”

>> Continued from p. 1; OpportunitiesThe options are endless once you have your Barmuda VIP Rewards card. VIP mem-ber Teri Trask said that she loves her VIP card. “When the card first arrived I thought there had to be a “catch” - one of those “too good to be true so probably isn’t deals.” Considering that Trask is a big fan of Beck’s, she took the card there to test it to see how it would work and once the waitress explained how it worked, she felt like it was a win-win all the way around. Trask said, “I can see why they call it a VIP card – I felt like one getting to use it!”

All of the Barmuda restaurants, nightclubs and lounges in the Cedar Valley accept the VIP Rewards card including the Bour-bon Street Restaurant and Voodoo Lounge location in Grinnell, Iowa.

“It’s fun to have a card in my wallet that it is actually a good thing when you put something on it!” adds Trask.

Soon members will have something more to look forward to in 2010 with the Barmu-da VIP Rewards Plus program. Local busi-nesses are partnering with Barmuda to offer discounts to members carrying the Rewards card. Watch for details coming soon through your e-mail, Facebook and the Barmuda.com website.

Questions concerning all VIP Rewards promotions, events and cards can be directed to Barmuda Companies corporate offices at (319) 266-9994.

Michael Oher is a famous football player whose life was changed when a wonderful family adopted him be-cause he had no where else to go. If you have seen the movie The Blindside, you will understand what happens when you help someone whose life could be saved with a little help from a friend.

The passion and commitment displayed in this movie is the same reason why Barmuda Cares is so passionate about the Wildwood Hills Ranch in Winterset, Iowa. This horse ranch helps at-risk children throughout the state who sometimes have no one in their lives to help them. These children could pursue a life of crime, but instead they stay on a path of goodness and doing right by oth-ers. All because someone cared.

Barmuda Cares about the Wildwood Hills Ranch and the children they help. For the past few years, Barmu-da has been helping to send over 80 children from the Cedar Valley to this ranch where their lives have been changed forever. Please join us in helping to raise funds for this project by attending the Wildwood Hills Ranch: A Wine & Chocolate Affair on Friday, February 12th at the Sky Event Centre in the Black’s Building, Waterloo. From 5:30-8:30 p.m. guests will be treated to delicious wines, chocolates and appetizers plus they will enjoy the piano sounds from Mick Staebell.

Tickets are $45 each or two for $80. Call (319) 266-9994 to get your tick-ets today. This is a tax-deductible donation.
