NEW VOCATIONS WEBSITE Our new diocesan website dedicated to fostering priestly vocaons, www.dolpriest.ca, was launched on Priesthood Sunday, Sept. 29. The hope of this site is that it will lead young men who are discerning the priesthood to discover the gi of their vocaon, and offer them resources that are relevant to their experience. The site is regularly updated by Fr. Danny Santos, Director of Vocaons and Seminarians. Please share the address of the website, in parcular if you know of someone who might be interested in the priesthood.
QUO VADIS
Quo Vadis is Lan for “where are you going?” Tradion states that St. Peter asked Jesus this queson as Peter was fleeing Rome due to the persecuons. St. Peter was cut to the heart by Christ’s response and returned to Rome to accept martyrdom. Is Jesus calling me to be a Catholic priest? It’s not an easy queson to answer. It takes prayer and study to discover your true vocaon. Quo Vadis is a discernment group of men like you who love Jesus Christ and His Church, and who are willing to talk with other like-minded men about their future. The group meengs aren’t meant to convince you that priesthood is your vocaon. You could very well be called to marriage or to another vocaon. But if you’re a faithful Catholic man between the ages of 18 and 35 – even if you’re currently dang – at some point you have to ask yourself whether God is calling you to be a priest. Contact Fr. Danny Santos for more info at [email protected]

CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD We are nearing the end of the liturgical year. Today’s readings remind us that our own lives will draw to a close one day, and we can be certain that the Lord will encourage, strengthen, and save us—both now and at the last. The astonishing story of the Maccabees invigorates our faith as we behold an entire family willing to die rather than deny the Law of Moses. The psalm response echoes the faithful cries of the Maccabees: “I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God.” That same confidence appears in Saint Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians. “The Lord is faithful,” he testifies; “he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” In the Gospel, Jesus explains just how long God’s protection will endure. The children of God whom God guards, Jesus says,
will live forever like angels.
