MEET DINA OUSLEY,

E mmy award winning makeup artist and cosmetologist,

Dina Ousley, the originator of the airbrush makeup is

revolutionizing the cosmetic industry. Who would have

guessed that a cosmetologist born in Fort Worth, Texas

would try being a stewardess, then move to New York

and do hair on a cruise line to help pay for studying

acting at the Actors Studio. She was having too much

motion sickness and decided to get a day job cutting

hair in New York. She found a job on the beauty floor

at Henri Bendel as Paul Mitchell’s assistant and worked

with him to open Crimpers Salons. A story for another

day. She took a brief vacation to California and discovered

it was in fact both warm and sunny. She then decided it

was time to move to California and try her luck at acting.

Paul gave all the usual cautions and then got her a very

good job with his friends in California.

Soon after she arrived, she got a part on TV series.

Dina never gave up her hair cutting clientele.. Acting

during the day and cutting hair at night. She discovered

that acting involved a lot of waiting around, and if you

know her you know that is not for her. She went on to

be Warren Beatty’s salon assistant in the box office hit

movie “Shampoo”... art imitating life? She was cutting

hair on set in her abundant spare time and became a

Hollywood hair dresser by accident and then a Hollywood

makeup artist! Dina found that she was very impatient

with traditional makeup... fortunately. On set she

felt both the need for beauty and speed. This challenge

would inevitably pave the way for the modern airbrush

makeup era. While working in front of the camera,

Dina realized how precise the camera’s were and how

important speed is.

She began her quest to create a flawless coverage that

would be invisible to the naked eye, camera lenses,

and work in all lighting conditions. Realizing this could

not be done with traditional makeup, she began to

explore airbrush. In 1989 Dina won first place for an

international makeup competition using her airbrush

makeup. Dinair had began its journey in film and TV,

and then salons and spas, and onto homes around the

world. What had started on the big screen secret is now

one of the leading innovative makeup applications in the

world. For over 30 years, Dinair has been the top choice

of leading artists in television, salons, bridal and everyday.

Dina has no plans of slowing down.

In addition to her sparkle and cheer is a kind impatience,

determination and persistence to make life happen.

I t was the breath of fresh air

that created a new cosmetics

category and forever raised the bar

on beauty. When Dinair Airbrush

Makeup debuted in 1981, makeup

artists quickly recognized that

the industry was on the cusp of a

major makeover. Through her work

on film, television and commercial

sets, Dinair co-creator Dina Ousley

had found that traditional makeup

was lacking in many areas. She

longed for more beautiful, refined

and long-lasting results without

the need for constant touch-ups,

more efficient and healthier method

of application. So, with partner

George Lampman, she set out to

develop a unique delivery system

that in tandem with specialty color

formulations would change the

face of makeup. Dinair Airbrush

Makeup became the first HDTV-

ready makeup well ahead of its

time. Dinair thrives as the choice

of professionals. Today, more

than 30 years after pioneering

the category, Dinair remains the

standard bearer. We are the

premier source for the ultimate in

How to achieve this Leopard look*:

Choose an Eyebrow Stencil shape

For a light and diffused look, hold the stencil slightly off the skin or hold the stencil flush with the skin for a more dramatic and defined eyebrow.

Use the Eybrow Hairs Stencil to highlight or fill-in missing brows.

Find a lip stencil closest to your natural shape. Apply stencil for perfect lip lines and enhancement.
