“The Broken Chain”
We little knew that day, God was going to call your name.
In life, we loved you dearly, In death, we do the same.
Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 . . . To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven.
A time to be born, and a time to die . . .
On Monday, March 6, 2017 at Loving Care Nursing Home, God sent His angels to touch our love one, Dillard D. Riddick, to beckon him home. Dillard was blessed to be 98 years of age and have now been afforded a home on high to be with his Heavenly Father.
Dillard was born on July 9, 1918 in Hertford County, North Carolina to Henry and Minerva Booth Riddick. Dillard was married to Rosa Lee Manley and the father of two daughters, Carol and Darlene.
After many years of service, he retired from the City of Portsmouth. Dillard was a faithful member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) and attended services regularly until his illness.
Dillard was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Manley; his parents, Henry and Minerva Booth Riddick; and 14 siblings, Mamie Riddick Gaynor, Bessie Garrett, Sarah Parsons, Nevada Anderson, Glennie Dozier, Holbrook Riddick, Oliver Riddick, Bryant Riddick, Clarence Riddick, Johnny Riddick, Lloyd Riddick, Oscar Riddick, Viola Winborn and Rosa Downing.
Dillard is survived by his two daughters, Carol and Darlene and “Uncle Dillard” will truly be missed by a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In Loving Memory of Dillard . . .
We cherish the special place in our hearts
that will always be reserved for Uncle Dillard.
The family would like to thank his nephew, Jesse Demps, for his compassionate care of Dillard during his illness.
