EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

The Boston Latino Heritage Project is a tool to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, showing how Latinos have positively impacted the Boston community. Highlighting fifteen Latinos, as well as, seven landmarks, it aims to inspire future generations to view their own possibilities for leadership as limitless.

Co-creator/producer the DVD which was distributed throughout the Boston Public Schools during Hispanic Heritage Month 2014.

Currently, 40% of the Boston Public School System’s student population is Hispanic.  This video has the potential of reaching an audience that will benefit from learning that others with similar backgrounds have positively impacted the Boston community.  Furthermore, it serves as an important resource to assist administrators in leading the conversation about diversity in the city.

Public relations, spearhead marketing initiatives and creation and dissemination of materials, obtained earned media coverage & events participation of candidate. Planning and execution of forum at the 2013 Mass Democratic Convention about utilizing ethnic media.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCEDigna Gerena is a PR/Markeing and Ethnic Media Consultant who has worked at several ethnic media outlets, that included Boston Neighborhood Network, Telemundo Boston and recently MasMedia Group owners of El Planeta Newspaper.   From 2003-2013, Ms. Gerena was the Creator and Executive Producer of Boston Latino TV, an English language independent production that utilized new media to showcase the Latino presence in Boston.  Digna is also the co-creator of the Access Awards, Boston Latino TV’s signature event that served to honor and recognize individuals and organizations that have demonstrated commitment for the advancement of the Latino community.   !She volunteers as an advisor to the Puerto Rican Veterans Monument Square Association, the Puerto Rican Festival and El Jolgorio de Massachusetts, assisting on fundraising campaigns and promoting their events using social media. !She was on the 2013 PowerMeter selection committee, El Planeta newspaper's list of the top 100 influential people in Boston, where she was listed in it every year from 2005 – 2011 and again in 2014 & 2015. In 2009 she received the Boston Neighborhood Networks Community Spirit Award.   !In 2001 she completed a B.S. in Film and Television from the Boston University College of Communication.
